Thank you for the detailed info and suppliers you used from start to finish with your project. I will
built my remote control mower unit from your design you made it very simple to fallow your instruction. Thanks once again.
Thank you, I am glad it helped you!
where did you purchase the motors and wheels from GREAT VIDEO thank you

@@AdamSmasher thanks for the detailed setup, which seller did you purchase them from and how much?
@@bobx3646 The seller was teamxi, it was 150 for motors with wheels & tires.
I built one just like yours and it works amazing. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you for your contribution Adam.
Thanks men ur design was super simple yet effective I love it
That’s amazing! Love shots like this!!!
I did the field testing for that controller for RC lawnmower use.
Love it, nice work, i am in a Wheelchair and could definitely use a rig like that!!
Remarkable job !! Thank you
Thank You
loved the vid at the .30 sec mark just because it was a father, son project.
Oh super Good afternnon , Have a nice day ahead

In similar projects what do you suggest the type of circuit breaker or fuse?
fabulous
That is a dope setup love it! How long does the battery typically last before during?
Thanks! I have used a single battery to cut 3 small yards before it got sluggish. You could always add quick connects for fast swapping of batteries.
@@AdamSmasher Your welcome. Ok true.
Nice build! Have you covered your motor driver? Aren't you worried about grass or water getting on there and shorting out something?
Thanks! Yea, It has crossed my mind a few times. I will be making a cover I can slip over the top at some point.
im building mine this summer
The box opening is so loud it hurts the ears yet I can still just barely hear the voice. In the intro, the kid's voice was perfect.
Yeah, and the title music was clipping in my sound system.
Well done sir 👍🏻
Thanks
Thanks for the great video. Very informative.
I am building an RC lawnmower and was wondering what size of battery you would recommend?
Have you found the 22 amp hour batteries to have enough capacity?
(My lot size is about 60 ft by 100 ft minus the house).
Also, have you been happy with the Cytron motor driver?
Thanks for your help.
Take care,
Jeff
Yea, those batteries have been plenty. One will actually get me through my yard. I've had no issues with the cytron, just ran my first mow this year. It survived the Indiana winter out in the cold too.
@@AdamSmasher I see you said you from Indiana What part? I'm from Indiana also. I live in Marion.

I have looked at this again and really enjoyed your project
Hello
I just saw your video and was wondering how the mower worked for the last year. Good video thanks
Works well, I've had minor issues.
good job, bro
Nothing like metal chips in the living room carpet!
Thank you very much
It's been a few years since you posted. How was the functionality? Battery duration, terrain capability, any upgrades or changes since you've built it
So i've used these front wheels and they bend super easy if you hit a sidewalk or something did you ever figure out better front wheels?
Simple and nice build! Where to buy motors and what motor ratings did you used? Did you try how it performs on a slope?
Wheelchair motors, amzn.to/3HJoybc. Works great on a slope.
Please look at my motors(different gear box) will that work?
Thank you
Good video, and good RC mower, BUT there is one, but significant, difference between ROBOTIC and Radio-Controlled ;) Robotic means it controls itself autonomously, without ANY manual control at all ;) Like robotic vacuum cleaner for example ;)
the information for the motors?
where do you get the motors. I know they are from wheel chairs but where . and you have 2 wheel motor drivers listed. use either one? also I already have a new rear drive self propelled toro. could that be used as wheel motors?
Ed, I get them used from ebay. You can use either controller, but the Cytron is more user friendly. If you use the Sabertooth you will have a few adjustments to make. Also, the sabertooth does not come with 3 pin hobby wires that you will need for the project. The Cytron does. Happy building!
Hey Adam! ive found your video after many hours of research to be my inspiration for my own RC mower build personally i hope to have a mini fleet to care for the entirety of my RV park as of now out the gate im trying to keep cost down givin what you know now im curious if theres anything youd change or couldve done diferently to cut cost further take the threaded bar for example im finding them for like 80$ online after the 150$ for the motor and wheel combo found via ebay which i hope is the right one. and the cytron board sitting at $80 via amazon it does add up a bit either way thank you so much for this quality vid! also wanna ask the easy mow front end there price jumped up to with mixed reviews now any other suggestions perhaps? thanks for your binding vid and servo one you need to get back to pumping vids out bro! im 28 and just discovered this passion of mine your a teacher man id follow you in a heartbeat! i have a couple projects in development but am needing to sharpen my robotics knowledge any help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you! No, sorry, I haven't built any since that video.
If you desire more fine control of the mower look at your transmitters setup and find the Exponential (Expo) setting adjustment for the stick you use to control the movement. By increasing the value you will dumb down the response of the stick around its center point. You will still get full speed, just not so soon, not at the moment you touch the stick. So slow fine control is gained by adjust the expo value. My mower also has FPV features so I can cut the grass while sitting in my living room chair and view everything as I drive. Doing this also improves the experience because by now you have noticed that its hard to know how close you are when you are standing across the yard and more importantly, you dont have to think backwards when the mower is coming toward you, ever. Its like you are inside the mower driving it.
I would not be surprised if they come out with a zero turn like this
Amazing bro... I'm building mines soon
could it work on saplings about the size of a big toe ???
A great project. Adam, after using this for awhile do you have a list/video of changes/improvements that you would do it you did it again? It clearly works as is but I know as an inventor you are constantly thinking of a "better way". Again, thank you for sharing.
Thank you. I will try to get a follow-up video out soon. Tires are an issue in dew or damp grass, and they slip under high torque (24v) on dry grass. Also, it needs additional height adjustment in the rear.
@@AdamSmasher thanks Adam. Sounds great. I forward to it. And thank you again for putting everything out there for us. I see your design around the internet a lot with great success stories.
@@AdamSmasherdid you consider tyre tacks? They might provide a bit of extra grip
Should make an Electrik Version of it. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Very nice dad bro!
Thanks bro!
Hey nice build ! Can you explain a little how your controls are set up ? When you turn left or right the motors go in opposite directions. I’m a noob lol I have the same controller . I’m guessing it’s in (mixes). Just can’t get it to mimic that
Thanks! Which motor controller are you using?

Are those jazzy pride mobility motors?
Absolutely awesome mate! I noticed you have listed the sabertooth 32 and the citron drive duo, which one did you use?

Hello what drive model are you using?
nice video i was looking for a link to the motors kit you used , the 2 motor kit
Search ebay for used wheelchair motors.
Is there a link to the rear wheels used? Thanks.
Do you have the reference for off-road wheels adapted to the engine axle?
Wheels adapted to an engine axle? Elaborate please.
Sir, in what terminal do I connect RC connector from the motor driver to the transmitter. Planning to buy the same motor driver and rc receiver. Thank you.

What size of tires are you using? I have 10.75x3.25 and would like larger diameter size. On my build I used two eye bolts with washers and lock washer. Then treaded a metal hose clamp thru. Motors are very secure. And you can use the bottom part of the handle as a roll bar or light/equipment mounting
Just drill the holes out and mount.
I'm using the stock tires too, I have been eyeballing some 10x5's though.
I'm almost ready to button mine up and take it for a spin. Have same controller and Tx. I would like to use a step down transformer for the RX and servo separate from the controller. I'm setting up a remote kill for the power/controller as well as the engine. In no shape to go chasing after it😮. Also been testing "relays" to control the power feed. I think its been solved. Started out with a for SW-3 solinoid. Big problem is heat build up from the internal coil. It draws 5amps to keep the circuit closed that's why it's getting hot. Tried on the negative side and still gets hot. So starter solinoids are out. Back to the controller power issues. Think running just the signal wire might work. Waiting for reply back from Cytron.
@@TheWaterman1000 I have a video on here where I used a servo and step down for my kill switch. Please let me know if you come up with a good dependable relay.
Update: just took the mower out today for a test. Looks like I found a relay for power is working for now. Used a 30amp fuse for testing and everything stayed pretty cool didn't get hot. I'll edit a video and upload for some feed back.
@@TheWaterman1000 I like how you used the handle for your frame, cool build. Let me know if that 30 amp holds up.
Son should be proud!

Just need a charging coil to keep the battery toped off. It would be perfect.
Where did you get Theron swivel wheel setup from ?
There is a link in my video description.
where did he get the motors from
Spectacular work! The two motors for the wheels are not available on amazon, could you tell me another type of motor that is fine? thank you
Thank you! Search ebay for used wheelchair motors.
@@AdamSmasher Thanks! Ps: how many Rpm and NewtonMeter has the 2 motors?or watt?
@@MattiaRaggiDrum 75 RPM at 12v or 150 RPM 24v if I remember correctly.
@@AdamSmasher Thanks

I got them used off ebay.
@@AdamSmasher Thanks!
Having a problem finding the rear wheels could you help me out
Did you check ebay?
Thanks Adam. Can you provide the part lists and let me know where I could purchase these? Thanks
Parts linked in video description.
What if someone made a universal kit for major brand model mowers?
What size sabertooth do I need to run 44 inch zero turn and what motor weels I need
This setup can support over 500lbs, just run the motors at 24v for max power.
In your item list it has 2 batteries it that correct? Also how do you charge them?
You can run with one or two, 12v or 24v. If you run at 12v just use a simple float charger overnight after each use.
How did you come up with 3/8 rod when the motor hole are 3/4 inch.
I actually used 5/8. I just used what I had.
Ok. I used 1/2 bolts with a spacer made out of a 1/2 nut. I will use a rod later. I also use eye bolts and hose clamps. Solid as a rock. Ran into a big problem. I have 10.75x3.25 wheels and the deck is too low. Aarrgg thinking is I can find larger diameter wheels around 14 inch will work. Also been trying to find alternatives. Go cart, universal etc.,. I don't want to drag the motors in the grass or near the ground. One more thing, I used the bottom part of the handle as a equipment and roll bar. Just drill out the holes.
Problems solved... Modified the design to even allow high adjustment if needed.
Awesome build video mate ! I was wondering if you can help me finding a wheels like yours for I am using the same motors like yours. I will greatly appreciate it if you can give me a link where to buy them. Thank you and have a safe weekend !

They are pride mobility motors. I've used jazzy chair motors too.
@@AdamSmasher thanks
Can you replace a basic RC receiver with an Arduino to make it autonomous?
Basically then use gps/waypoints with it.
I want to use a cordless electric mower and remove the blade and motor to reduce weight. Then use Arduino.
I believe so. I have seen some other projects where they have been somewhat successful.
Bro I really interested with your techno.🙏
This project can added solar panel for the battery?
I saw a build like that on here. It can be done.
can find the Sabertooth motor driver:
on amazon any idea?
Use cytron smartdrive duo 30.
hey man what was your run time on those batteries? i have 2 7ah 12v batteries.
Are you not able to adjust the height of the rear wheels then?
Yes, using the zip ties on the rear. It's not ideal though. I just adjusted my rear height once and have left it alone.
Is this one the build that cut the grass better? I've read somewhere that you did 2 builds. Thanks for this video!
It is. They both cut well but one was too fast at 24 volts. This is a better build for sure though.
@@AdamSmasher thanks again
My motors have a yellow and white wire coming out of them what do you run those to?
Do you mean additional wires? If so that is for the brakes that were previously wired... You can just cut them off.
@@AdamSmasher Yeah I have the red and black coming out of the motor but also a yellow and white
@@themuffinman815 Yea, those are just the factory brake wires.
Can i use an " Ego electric push lawn mower" instead of a gas lawn mower?
I don't see why not. Go for it!
How big is motor in power/size?
Cute kid, so..... I subscribed! 😁
Awkward...

This build is also on Instructables. There you will find a very clear wiring diagram. If you still are not sure after seeing that, this project may not be for you.
@@AdamSmasher No I think I got it down. I saw another video that used that smart board chip. He put all four wheels. It gives it more of a beef look. Then I watched another video that has a wiring diagram it's easy to understand. But I like the idea.
