  • Im a student at Bluefield State College (WV). I Built this lawn mower for people with disabilities could mow their own grass. Been to a few shows where it has been displayed with some other excellent projects built by Bluefield State College Robotics Team.
    This is a Radio Controlled Zero Turn Lawnmower with a 50" cut.
    High Definition Video is transmitted with near zero latency onto the users TV using the Amimon Connex HD Transmitter/Receiver set and GoPro 3+ Black Edition camera. Receiver connects directly to TV using a high speed HDMI cable. No need to even come outside. The radio controller operates, on/off, start, blade engage, deck raise/lower, lights, winch, choke, throttle, and steering . This lawnmower is gas powered (3.5 gallon Tank) and battery never needs charged. I will be building and selling very soon.

    Very well built, the engines' alternator will easily power all of the electronics. Adding a wifi link and a highspeed internet connection and you could even operate the unit from a remote location many miles away.

    Really high quality build I noticed everything you use was top of the line parts. I'm adding the lights is a great idea and why not. Like the dumb comment the guy made. I'm sure your neighbors appreciate you mowing at night. That guy's just jealous of course you don't know at night time. But you could use the power of the machine to do something else at night time so you don't have to run the mower deck. This video was released 8 years ago. Imagine making upgrades in 2024 because we came a long way with electronics and camera systems in 8 years. Great work like to see more of the upgrades that you made if any . Keep up the nice work.

    With that r/c transmitter you would be able to program the stick channel mixing so that you would obtain a more conventional control layout? I.e. the left stick controlling the power and and fwd/rev direction of both motors, whereas the right stick controlling the steering by offsetting the power of one motor relative to another? With an OpenTX based radio that can be easily done. Not sure about the Graupners.

      Autonomous is in the worx. My partner was lead programmer on Apollo which won 2nd place in the WORLD at the IGVC competition in Michigan this year. Our autonomous will not require burying wires and no border markers needed on what we are developing.

    Nice... I live in a urban area and I'm disabled, this idea would be great for urban areas if it was smaller, and all battery powered...
    A 28" deck or smaller, would get through most gates, and batteries would give enough power to cut most lawns...
    You're on the right track with this idea... At least until the robotic ones come out which will eliminate having to drive it...

      We will be releasing a smaller version soon. The video system will be an add-on item though because it costs around $3,500 for HD transmission

    I am disabled and looking for a kit to go on a brand new small push mower. I need to install a larger gas tank on the mower to cut my 1.2 acres. I heard windshield wiper motors lift 400lbsand are good motors to turn wheels on lawn mowers.
    I would need better grip rear push tires as it cuts a smooth rounded ditch at front of property.
    That camera is nice and needed.
    I saw a led bar 10” to mount on top with a battery for bright wide view.
    Can you help me with RC parts?

      I build a couple of these in my back yard. You don't need newest stuff to throw together. eBay for 2wheelchair motors 100$, 120watt welder 100$ or cut yourself some angle iron from Home Depot, the brain to drive it is also 100$ and a used toro mower on CL is 100$ . Plus the dolly wheels from harbor freight is about 50$ together. Plus u going to build it yourself, so there's no right way, because you're going to adjust it to your need and money. Lmk if u need helps, or watch some of my mower videos. U can see I started with aluminum frame to steel tubing. And this design is similar to many others, u don't need a robotic team or university to learn this

    • @traviskimbrell1209
      @traviskimbrell1209 7 років тому

      I've built plenty, but I use quality components and my education so they cost a little more than a couple hundred dollars. To build the mower in this video you'll need a lot more than junk off eBay, casters from harbor freight, and a Google education lol

    • @derpherpp
      @derpherpp 7 років тому

      Because the ones I built were very inexpensive compared to this one. The mower in this video costs much more to build than using small mowers. If I had the money to spend on a project like this it would be a lot more sophisticated and capable.

      I never said it was the first radio controlled lawn mower. It is the first fully controlled RC mower. From deck adjustment to HD video transmission in 1080p. With goggles it would be a little hard to see controller for all the different options mine offers. This lawn mower is also patent pending for operations by video transmission.
