I’ve had my elite series 2 controller for 18 days. It feels absolutely incredible. The weight feels like you’re actually holding a well built controller. All buttons worked even after I spammed every button 50 times so quickly and full force after a week. Paddles feel the perfect size. Grips feel amazing but little gaps inbetween them have accumulated some dust and well I hate that but oh well. At first you’re worried if you’re actually pressing down on it but play a bit with it on single player. You’ll get it instantly Edit: I bought my controller in the uk, I have warranty until 14th of August 2021. For free. Which is a good bonus

It's by far the best controller I've ever owned. I really loved my original Xbox Elite controller, even though I did have to reglue the grips back on. Took me a little bit of time to get used to the added heft of the Series 2, but the phenomenal battery life, the wrap around grips, the added tension to the thumbstick all make it just superb. Really hard to go back to using any other controller.
@@AWS__ I still love it. I’ve had no issues with mine. I use it every day for every kind of game, Sports, Action RPG’s, Fighting, FPS… I haven’t touched my Series X controller yet.
Top notch controller, ive owned mines since christmas day last year and have had zero issues with it. I use it everytime i play warzone, and even went back and played MW2 with it , best controller ive ever owned.
Keep your controller in the case or in a drawer to help prevent it from accumulating dust. If That dust gets inside it will cause all sorts of problems.
Had mine for 6 months, paired with my One X, it's still rocking, sticks are good and stiff, no stick drif issue at all. The Series 1 controllers were pretty bad and first batch of series 2 were pretty bad, but like the uploader said, if you haven't had any issues in the first couple of months, you got a good controller that'll last.
Yeah I got a white series 1 thinking it be shit nope best contoller I've ever used in my life ahahah I baby it tho so its looks new still because of that even after a year
The best thing you can do for the controller is put it away in the case every time you're done with it. Don't even need to zip it up. Just to stop crap getting under the sticks. If you're worried about stick drift or diminishing stick quality, then just remap the bottom left and right back paddles to left and right stick click.
its been 10 months and I am on my 3rd replacement, bumper keeps failing they send to refurbished replacements my most replacement had slight scuff marks don't wast your money! if you do get it to get it with an extended warranty. The majority of people who bought this controller having a bunch of issues.
I know I’m late tot he party lol. I’ve used a Scuff ever since I started taking WZ seriously and have loved it. With the prices coming down to $150 now for Elite 2, the Suffs have gone WAY up to around $250 now so I’m giving it a try. Today actually! Great vid, answered exactly what I came hear to research. Stay frosty 🥶
I just got one for xmas, hope it holds up! I've only spent a few hours with it playing Cyberpunk but, I can already tell the difference in the feel of it. This is now my favorite controller!
Got my series 2 in February. Absolutely love it worth every penny imo. My only complaint about it is out of Microsofts control when it comes to Bluetooth latency on pc. I would definitely recommend buying the dongle or plugging in for best experience on pc.
4 months with mine no problems at the moment ❤️ if you guy's wants to buy one, buy it directly from Microsoft store, don't buy it from amazon or another store, a lot of this controllers that got issues are from people that bought them from stores; sometimes on stores they mismanage items and drop the boxes or something...
I have a question so when the controller is not working & you have a warranty how to you report to Microsoft for a new one? Do you return the broken one?
I used to go through a controller every 6 months... I haven't had to since the V2 came out. A warranty will get a second controller/ replacement for only $20 via Microsoft if ever needed. For me, it's well worth it & feels great. For once in a generation I didn't care what the next controller looked like because it's so great.
I bought one since it came out, and here's my impression: The battery lasts for a long time, the grip, the weight, the customization, of all that is great, but if you are like me, you probably hoped this one would last more than a year before experiencing defects. THREE MONTHS after buying it the bumpers have started to malfunction and I found no way to fix them, I had to program 2 padels in the back to work like them but DAMN, it just seems so shitty that the warranty lasted for only 90 fucking days. I loved the controller for the first 3 months but I cannot recommend it from MY experience since you are paying for probably one of the most expensive controllers out there and it won't last half a year.
Saved 25$ on one that had been returned, had a little scuff on the side, otherwise, everything works and was included. And so far, initial impressions are: I love it. The stick tension instantly took me back to 360 days, even if I had to up my sensitivity, the trigger locks work beautifully for shooters. The paddles I'm still trying to get adjusted/used to/figuring out what to map to them. But. I play A LOT, not necessarily an achievement hunter, but, I put serious hours in a lot of games, and, I've been thoroughly impressed.
For me first controller I bought, the top paddle on the left side got sticky but I had no issue with joysticks. The second one i got drifty joysticks both on the right and left joystick. So at this point, I just didn't want to buy another one. But your long term review gave me hope that maybe there is still good controller that has everything work correctly. So I might give it another try. Edit: I used mine like 8 to 10 hour a day
you saved me some $$$ I live in a place where I simply can't return it if I had problems Is there anything out there like the DualShock 4 back attachment?
FYI - while Microsoft acknowledged the issues with these, they certainly didn't fix them and the warranty is all but useless. I'm on my third controller, the latest one which was a Microsoft warranty replacement also has stick drift and now a broken LB button. Great feeling controllers but utterly trash internal components that are BOUND to break within a year. Best decision I ever made was sending this away to a small business to have the sticks and internal bumper buttons replaced with high grade third party parts - would recommend this to anyone who wants the controller without the problems down the line.
@@willswain7144 Yup, the quality control on these is unbelievably bad. After my latest one was fixed and showed no issues going forward I decided to get the same treatment for the other two and sold them on as "actually fixed" so someone else could experience how this controller was supposed to be built
@@ItIsStep Yup, Uber Micro Repairs here in the UK did a great job. Replacement bumpers and new joysticks (with no wobble or drift) all for £40. Don't know if they do international delivery but it's well worth asking them!
I had an issue with the first run (initial preorder) and replaced it with one from a different lot number. I love it and have had no issues with the new one. Can’t beat what you get for the price.
Hi Brad. I enjoy your reviews. I’ve had my Elite 2 for 7 months no issues. One item I would like to see is adjustable tension settings on the analog stick click. I find in FPS games it’s to easy to click down on the analog left and right sticks that I have mapped to switch weapons and Reload. Trying to control recoil I accidentally push down on the sticks during gun play. Workaround in Destiny 2 I setup sticks to be double clicked. This has helped. As for the paddles, I use 4 of my Elite version 1 small paddles. This has worked great!
I have the Series 1 and Series 2 and just absolutely love them. I prefer the Series 2 for its feel. My Series 1 did, after almost 2 years I believe, have a shoulder button issue where it would no longer depress so I’m not sure I can get that fixed. Its expensive yes but if you use Xbox and PC all the time, it may be worth it for some. I also have my X1X controller and had zero issues despite NHL 20 abuse of the forward flicking. I also feel Xbox controllers in general have got much more higher quality vs at launch, least ever since my X1X, i have yet to replace any.
I bought the og elite controller and loved it, the only issues I had with it were the rubber grips warping and falling apart after about a year of use and I would go thru batteries hand over fist especially when plugging in a headset to the controller.
Jesus you’re lucky, I’m a month outside my warranty and I’ve just started getting stick drift, just ordered the series 2 tho as I’ve heard great things about it unlike the first one
I used mine every and it love it, to avoid the explosion when it falls just make sure is changing in the case it has a little hole in the back and it comes with a very long changing cable.
Got my elite 2 at launch, and as we speak its in transit for replacement under warranty... I also had the elite 1...that was a 3 time return nightmare... 😡
Cant decide between buying one now, or waiting for them to make a series 3 thats shaped more like my series x controller. I didn’t think there was that big of a difference between the xbox one and the series x controller, but after using the series x one for the last month straight the shape of the grips really does feel way better on the new one.
Right when my year warranty went out, my left stick isn't clicking in anymore. Tried to hit up microsoft for a fix and they told me to kick rocks and buy a new one. Trying to find videos right now about opening up/looking into it. Shame to have happen on a expensive controller when my regular gears of war 4 controller is still kicking along fine. If it didn't have this issue it'd be great choice for sure.
Always get the warranty for the extra $30 - $40. Before the original 1 year warranty is up, send the controller back for repair. Then your controller should be good to go for a good while until you decide to fulfill the 2-3 year physical damage warranty you bought for it, for a full new controller replacement, and you will have essentially gotten a refreshed controller for free, and then a full brand new second controller for what, $40? It's basically 2 brand new Elite controllers for $210-$220 initially and a free refurbishment lol.
Yeah it is. I hout the 40 dollar 2 year warranty with best buy for it. I already had to use the free Microsoft warranty out the box with it cause my home button didn't work. Luckily best buy still honors their warranty even after that.
@@Mark_Aaron same here. I got the best buy warranty. I'm having slight A button issues and minor stick drift. They aren't major problems so far but for almost 200? I don't want minor problems. As soon as my best buy gets restocked, I'm getting a replacement
I bought mine off eBay in November from someone who won the Taco Bell giveaway so I’ve had mine for 11 months now and about 5 months ago my right RT started sticking when I initially squeeze it in but when I’m so focused in a game it’s not a huge deal. At the same time my RB starting registering a double click when scrolling through menus so that can be annoying but it’s not worth having to pay for it being fixed since I’m out of warranty. But even with those issues it’s still the best controller I’ve ever used.
I game 2 hrs every other day, lol, most of my friends I know personally and they always have things to do so when I hop on it’s because all of them are on, we have a blast, two of us ordered this controller so hopefully it’s good with warzone
After owning my elite series 1 for about 4 years, the rubber on one side has only now started to peel. Crazy how inconsistent the construction is. Some people seem to get peeling rubber after a matter of months.
I’ve had mine for about 10 months and this controller is amazing, I play a ton and if you take care of this controller you can definitely get your money’s worth. It does not wear out easily and if you have been thinking about buying one I highly recommend it.
$229.99 here in Canada. Just bought for next gen hope i don't get the bad stick drift. Coming from playstation and having every controller I had got bad stick drift fingers crossed my experience with this one is good.
I have an Xbox Elite Series 2 and the RB stopped working after about 2 weeks I did not beat on it at all and my regular controller that I beat is holding up way better
They could of make the triggers and bumpers metal. That's a big complaint of mine. Also wish you could change the color of the xbox logo without modding it yourself.
I've never seen such polarizing comments/reviews on a controller, or pretty much any piece of hardware for that matter (except maybe Nintendo Joycons). Maybe it's the price point that rallies the vocal minority? Bought one yesterday and will have it next week. Can't wait! They're still on sale for $20 off/$159 USD through Costco, even better if you have the Costco Citi card to extend the warranty for 2 additional years.
Had mine for 6 months before it stoped charging and couldn’t use the left thumb stick. Thank god j had the warranty sent me a new one. Definitely the best controller I’ve used tho can say that for sure
There's an issue that some have right out of the box, and sometimes a few months later, depending on play. It involves drift. Anyone living in a different country than the U.S.A. can not utilize the warrenty. So it's no good.
That's about it for me. I have a series one that works perfectly fine, but I'm sick of the sleight jerks disconnecting the controller while the cord has no chance of falling out or being loose.
I noticed my buttons did stick a little for the first couple months I had it but it seem like I just had to break it in and clean it with alcohol now everything works flawlessly
The best part is it’s backwards compatible, it might be better that the stock controller the SeriesX will get shipped with. God bless you Microsoft for being customer friendly this gen.
I really agree idk why people dislike replaceable batteries it’s literally an advantage in every way but I would not mind if it had a 30+ hour battery life
I don't think it's quite worth the price of $180 before tax, but I was able to snag one up for $145 after tax brand new and I think that's a more appropriate price for this controller, because at msrp it's 3x more expensive than a regular controller, but to me it's worth about 2x a regular controller price.
Mines still going strong. Thought I was getting very slight stick drift at one point but that soon passed and the controller worked normally. Buttons sticking is no longer an issue, I guess they've worn in enough to not do that anymore. Bumpers are still solid too and the sticks haven't broken the underside bearing like the Elite v1 did.
@@spazzlol5699 nah, had to retire it in the end. Both bumpers began to fail. RB lost all functionality eventually, then when the LB started to become really unresponsive I had to call it a day and get another one. Fortunately the newer one is good and no issues out the box at all. I think it might be a newer revision with some upgraded parts. Still I'm gonna baby the bumper buttons and map to the back paddles where I need for games like Gears of War that use the bumper a ton.
@@obsidianzarok2361 both bumpers are almost non functional. Have to really press them hard to get them to register. The RT for me sticks slightly. I now use a normal controller for all games other than fps games when I go back to the elite. I just refuse to buy another one because they're so badly made. I'm waiting to see if the eventual Series 3 will finally bring updates to the weak bumper mechanism. The only plus is that the controller for me never got drift in the years I've had it and still doesn't. But I attribute that to me mapping the stick click buttons to the back paddles.
@@LouSassol69er That's terrible to hear thanks for letting me know. I have one on the way after two Normal series x controllers have broken rb bumper's two dead in under 6 months! The plan is to remap the rb button to a paddle once it breaks on the elite. Hopefully one day Microsoft will make a controller that works but I do think they designed them this way so that they do break and you have to go out and but another.
Expect problems with this thing. I'm on my third controller. First one, ABXY all unresponsive about 50% of the time. I used it for like one week, then A apart from that also started getting stuck. Second one, after six months RB just got worse and worse and finally stopped working completely. Got controller #3 today and so far it has disconnected once during gameplay. I hope it was just some random error.. But really, the quality control is just abysmal. It's 250 dollars here by the way :) Not really what you expect at that price point. And the major issue with all this is, of course, that when you've gotten used to it, all other controllers feel like shit. If this third one breaks as well I will just never touch MS stuff again and get a Dual Sense.
I want one of the Elite Controllers, but I’m perfectly fine with the Xbox One Bluetooth controller I have, Which cost $100, has rubberized grips, and my Gamertag engraved on it. I got it from Xbox Design Lab using one of my Xbox One Wireless Controllers.
It looks like Microsoft took your advice because they coming out with the elite two core controller for 130 bucks comes out this month but it doesn’t come with any extra attachments it’s just a controller and a cable no back Paddles you have to buy separately
the controller is not worth it at the moment. The Elite S2 has bluetooth issues when playing certain games (Destiny 2), so you have to run it wired. At that point, might was well just use a regular controller with a paddle attachment. I recommend people learn to solder and just mod their regular xbox one controller with a mod kit, you'll save alot of money and you'll have a better product at the end. Also, the sticks wobble if you don't use the maximum tension on the thumbsticks. And, last but not least, there some controller that have buttons that don't register or miss presses. The first one I bought had a defective A button that didn't register unless you pressed it hard, and now on my second one the A button still doesn't register light presses like my flawless Xbox One controller, but it's not as bad as the first Elite I bought. If for some reason you do have to get this controller, make sure you get the insurance on it, as there's probably a 50% chance you'll get an issue with you controller. Maybe, get an Evil or Battle Beaver controller.
I just got in the wireless adapter for the Xbox One controllers. So now the disconnecting issues are gone, be it that I'm no longer using my computer's built in Bluetooth 5.0. The only problem that still persists is the A button is still not as sensitive as the original Xbox One controller. At least it no longer disconnects, though I had to spent an extra 30 bucks for the dongle. Only reason I haven't RMA is that the human virus is making repairs take longer, and I don't want to deal with the chance of delays and such.
I got the Phantom White pretty much exactly a year ago and it's been flawless until this week. Right stick is starting to drift up. It happens randomly like most of the time it doesn't move but out of nowhere my camera in game just looks up really fast, faster than any drift I've seen.
I heard that’s just a sync problem and you should hold Xbox power button for 10 seconds, and then unplug it, then rep lug and turn on and sync your controller again. That’s what I heard
@@sijenkai3928 nah it was proper drift. Analogue stick completely went. I plugged it into my computer and used a testing tool and it was pushing up by 64% without even touching it. Thing was in perfect condition, never dropped it or anything. I've got a Series X now anyway and a new controller.
Are any of the replaceable sticks shorter than the original controllers sticks? I find them too long on original controller, which makes it harder to track aiming etc. Adjusting the tension would improve things though I guess. As well as the gripped convex (dome shaped) thumb sticks.
Sadly my LB is not working all the time on my any more (I use it to sprint so more use than usual, heard similar issues with bumper jumper). started acting up after 4months, so not on warranty anymore. I'm stuck with a 230 CAD$ controller not working properly. Sad because I LOVE the feel of it and I love my Gen1 before stick drift and Rubbers detaching. What sucks is that I never dropped it ever! Bought a Razer Wolverine to replace it, cheaper, sadly wired but it feels almost just as great, it has 1 year warranty and it has not broken on me so far.
I bought mine on day 2 of release (11-5-19). I have a slight problem of playing the game after work and passing out behind the wheel/remote, well my game room is hard wood floors. So with that being sad I've dropped my elite 2 remote 30+ times 2-2.5' off the hardwood floors and being woke up to the remote being dropped on to the floor "boom" and waking up and seeing it on the floor with the chat pad disconnected the thumbstick shot way over there and the other thumbstick shot way over there to the other direction and then the D-Pad under the couch 30+ times, Now over the time I've tested lol this remote THE ONLY THING EVER 2TO GO WRONG is the stick drift that happened like 6 months into buying the remote. I contacted mircosoft thay sent out a label, which I had to go to wal-mart and buy a small box and package stuffing/bubble wrap ship it out and 3-4 weeks bam go a new one, since then NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AT ALL. Yup I still drop it every now and then. THAT REMOTE IS BUILD LIKE A TANK!!! WELL WORTH THE MONEY HANDS DOWN!!!
How about some truth?? The warranty is for 90 days.......after that good luck and would you like fries with that?? I made the mistake of purchasing this controller and in the first week I became afflicted with left stick drift. Off it went to be repaired and it returned in three weeks. Two days later the left stick drift was back. Off it went again. This time it lasted just over two months and the B button got stuck and the left stick drift was back. By this time the warranty was gone so it now resides in the closet as a reminder of how stupid I was to buy this controller. I have returned to the standard ole Xbox One controller . This is a fantastic controller especially for FPS games, when it works, but that is the deal, it does not work for long. If yours is still working perhaps you should go buy a lottery ticket as your luck seems to be in that realm. Cheers Kit
I'm 5 weeks in on my second elite 2 controller now. My first one lasted 10 months and I game a lot more than 10 hours a week. My RB button stopped being responsive. I tried fixing it myself but I wasn't successful. Other than that it's a great controller.
Best controller I have ever owned up to about a month or two ago... then it started disconnecting every 30 minutes, then every 10 minutes. Now I have to keep it plugged in. I can unplug it and it will stay connected for about two hours and then right back to disconnecting every ten minutes. Unfortunately there is no real support from Xbox on this either. Forums are filled with the same problem and all you end up having is a Xbox Ambassador that has no idea what they are talking about answer you. Last one told me up remove the battery and try a new one.
Best controller I have used. This is after 4 returns Return 1 A button 100% did not work Return 2 Lb would x2 X3 press when only pressed once and Y button was 80% working Return 3 When controller wanted to vibrate the full thing would randomly think I'm pressing buttons and turn off. Return 4 Rubber stopper on RT was not present therefore when fully pressed it would go inside controller and also make loud tap sound (impact)

Mine is fine but it does have stick drift. It's not that much of a problem though because I can just increase the dead zone of the sticks
Still working?
Is it still working fine ?
4 months with mine no problems at the moment ❤️
if you guy's wants to buy one, buy it directly from Microsoft store, don't buy it from amazon or another store, a lot of this controllers that got issues are from people that bought them from stores; sometimes on stores they mismanage items
and drop the boxes or something...
Maybe they even sell refurbished /returned as new. I've had some bad experiences on Amazon and don't trust it anymore
po1980 yeah, you got a point there!
I have a question so when the controller is not working & you have a warranty how to you report to Microsoft for a new one? Do you return the broken one?
Jason Hernandez you have to call Microsoft and they will ask for the serial # of the controller and then they will tell you what to do
I used to go through a controller every 6 months... I haven't had to since the V2 came out. A warranty will get a second controller/ replacement for only $20 via Microsoft if ever needed. For me, it's well worth it & feels great. For once in a generation I didn't care what the next controller looked like because it's so great.
Really appreciate the Long Term review! Gonna pick one up this Christmas
I bought one since it came out, and here's my impression:
The battery lasts for a long time, the grip, the weight, the customization, of all that is great, but if you are like me, you probably hoped this one would last more than a year before experiencing defects.
What? Warranty only 90 days? Wtf? In Europe everything that is sold has 2 years warranty guaranteed. Would not want to live without that.
Some folks including myself are waiting for the next version since Elite Series 2 does not have a Share button. Still on my Elite Series 1.
@@TurboExpress007 No you cant
The share button is kinda overrated.
Edit: I used mine like 8 to 10 hour a day
Easily the best controller I've ever owned, however, the stick drift is real and there is no fix for it.

This is your 3rd Elite controller?
@@willswain7144 Yup, the quality control on these is unbelievably bad.

Noticed people saying the buttons stick, and the bumpers etc. Just wash your hands and clean the controller, god.
Still working?
I have the Series 1 and Series 2 and just absolutely love them. I prefer the Series 2 for its feel. My Series 1 did, after almost 2 years I believe, have a shoulder button issue where it would no longer depress so I’m not sure I can get that fixed. Its expensive yes but if you use Xbox and PC all the time, it may be worth it for some. I also have my X1X controller and had zero issues despite NHL 20 abuse of the forward flicking. I also feel Xbox controllers in general have got much more higher quality vs at launch, least ever since my X1X, i have yet to replace any.
@Mr Glass wait what? On all 4?
I bought the og elite controller and loved it, the only issues I had with it were the rubber grips warping and falling apart after about a year of use and I would go thru batteries hand over fist especially when plugging in a headset to the controller.

If your buying this controller, the $170 price isn't important...it's the $40 warranty. Lol
Yeah it is. I hout the 40 dollar 2 year warranty with best buy for it. I already had to use the free Microsoft warranty out the box with it cause my home button didn't work. Luckily best buy still honors their warranty even after that.

Carson Davis it’s only an firmware update that we will all get at the launch of the series X

I've never seen such polarizing comments/reviews on a controller, or pretty much any piece of hardware for that matter (except maybe Nintendo Joycons). Maybe it's the price point that rallies the vocal minority? Bought one yesterday and will have it next week. Can't wait!
Still working?
@@spazzlol5699 nah, had to retire it in the end. Both bumpers began to fail. RB lost all functionality eventually, then when the LB started to become really unresponsive I had to call it a day and get another one.
Fortunately the newer one is good and no issues out the box at all. I think it might be a newer revision with some upgraded parts. Still I'm gonna baby the bumper buttons and map to the back paddles where I need for games like Gears of War that use the bumper a ton.

One of my trigger travel switches rubber has started to fall off and one of my paddles has lost its clicking sound
It's the nicest controller made but made of rice paper quality.
I don't like the paddles but I love the weight and feel of that controller
the controller is not worth it at the moment.
Yea it disconnects on any game bro myself and all my buddies have the same issue the controller is ass 200 plus dollars with hella issues

My left bumper went after ten months, it was changed under warranty. My series one white pad is so much stronger and slightly better.
i have this controller, it’s great, but i feel like it needs a software update to stop the bumper from double reading when you click it
How about some truth??

You can get replacement grips for the elite controller like I did. Basically good as new :) but now I just got the new one
Rb went on mine and my right toggle is slowly going but it’s not to bad, had mine for 6 months now. Ngl im still happy with it (:
My elite controller 2 was taken back 3 time’s and the problems were, drifting, broken R2 triggers and rumble issues. I love the controller battery, it’s brilliant but controller needs to be recalled. It’s a disaster
And dropping Bluetooth connection
I wish they would come with themed versions at a lower price. They would win.
