Dropped my controller to the point where I hear something loose inside of the controller. I did have a bumper issue but fixed it by gently smashing it.
It's crazy to see how many people(included me) have issues with the RB not working or eventually stop registering and even the rattling sound in the control as well. Luckily for me that's all my issues in the first one my second one has right stick drift very minor, pretty easy to control but both of them have the same small top of the rubber next the RB sticking out and not gonna lie it has me super paranoid
Open the controller up, there is a plastic white piece between the switch en de RB button, get it out. put a tiny tiny piece of ducktape on it to make it a bit thicker so it registers the click better, put it back and it works all fine again. did it yesterday, fixed al my problems
Honestly surprised to read so many people have had so many issues with it. I bought mine second hand over a year ago and have had no problems with it at all, admittedly it's not been getting massively heavy use, but at the same time I haven't always treated it exactly...gently.
If you're talking about the first one I felt the same exact way. Had mine for over a year. Buuuut just two days ago the grips started coming off. No reason what so ever I picked it up off my desk and then felt something weird on the back and woopty due grips are coming off.
I had mine for about 1.5 years so far and I still love it. I did have an issue with left bumper either double actuating or not at all. In addition the right trigger became sticky since the foam pad inside came loose creating an adhesive spot for the trigger. I exchanged through Microsoft directly and the controller has worked so far ever since. I still use the controller for many games on Steam and the back paddles works wonders for shifting gears in Forza Horizon 4!
Microsoft should just make a variant of their standard wireless controller with the back paddle built. Seriously, that should become the standard for all controllers. I bought a Power A wired controller just so I could get those paddles to supplement the thumbstick buttons, since they are so awkward to use. Unfortunately, that controller broke after just 3 weeks of active use and I had to return it for a refund.
i feel like they should make a back button attachment like sony did and the can use that port on the bottom next to the Auxiliary. So people can use the custom limited controllers they make or ones that people custom make in design labs. Also if the controller is having issues they can just buy a new controller or use a spare one they have and continue to use the back button attachment. Sadly they’re probably never gonna do that cause they want to focus sells on their elite and 3rd party controllers.
Yup go look at the Xbox documentary that’s new they make everything in a rush and always have to back peddle on products same thing with windows Microsoft needs new leaders and strict ones
@joey You can't. There's no compartment for the battery. The only way to access it is by literally ripping the entire controller apart and with how many rubber pieces covering seams and screws there are, it's a complicated and risky process.
@@jidenshaotoko Yeah that's what i meant bro, but i get what you're saying. You're going to have to spend an awful long time carefully taking parts out but being a mechanic i find it fun, but for many people it will be a tedious barrier for repair
i just found out people have been having issues with xbox controllers, i have had a normal xbox one controller and it’s been working perfectly for more than 5 years
I once bought the Pubg controller and it lasted like 6 months and the bumpers broke But still my controller from my xbox one s still works perfectly fine
I have the version that was wireless, about 10 years or more! Working fine with just a small crack from falling, and he did it a lot! I only want to upgrade to a new one due to it being so old and I want something good and comfy :)
The controller durability lottery is annoying. I've been blessed and cursed. Project Scorpio controller still going strong, outlasting multiple "normal" ones.
I’ve had mine for a year now and everything was fine until yesterday when my rb just started with the double press/ doesn’t register issue. I guess on the bright side my A button never got stuck lol
Had my series 2 for over a year and it still works just like i got it the first time.. It literally my favorite controller and I play competitive games..
Sorry, you must not really play that often or that competitively. We have three Elite S2's (nephew, wife, and myself). After all three were replaced once, we made a 100% conscious effort to baby the crap out of these "premium" controllers, which is an absurd necessity with this price tag. The right bumper on all three started double clicking frequently, the A buttons were barely receptive because they wobble too much, and the sticky pad behind the trigger moved and caused sticky trigger on two - all this after 6 months. They're engineered to fail under normal circumstances. Light gamers just don't count.
Yeah these controllers will last as long as you treat it right, no button spamming or mashing no slamming or throwing etc, had mine over a year nothing is wrong with it
It'll be REAL funny when the controller of those who don't believe the material choice issues are real start to wear down. It might take 1 or 2 years - there's no set time for it to happen - but it will.
I have two series 1 elites. I’ve had the first one for about six years and the only issue I’ve had with it was after about three years the right bumper broke to where if I hold the controller with the bumpers facing down the outer end can pop out of the casing. That said it still works so I turned it into my PC controller since I play at a desk and can’t really hold the controller in a way that it will pop out. No other issues after six years, still works perfect. I’ve had the second one for three years and have had zero issues with it. Still looks brand new.
Lucky I was so careful with my Elite 1s, but the grips came off, the bearing in the sticks collapsed and the RB buttons snapped leaving it loose on the switch. Happened to both, with me not overworking either. Terrible build quality. My Elite 2, same deal, been so careful with it but now the RB has lost its responsiveness. Needs to be pressed so hard to register. The class action lawsuit against Microsoft for this is no joke.
@@LouSassol69er my elite 1 still works but my elite 2, after 7 months all buttons except triggers, bumpers and analog sticks became unresponsive and the analogs are weirdly going up and down by itself. Which is why I switched to Razer Wolverine. Way better build quality.
The one thing they don't focus on is the most used double movement, Left analog stick forward, L3. Every game is based on the L3 forward "running" mechanic. There's where most controllers break.
I put it to the bottom left paddle and it works great. Simpler. It's dumb to make you press same button and then shift forward to move. I know y'all are used to it but my carpal tunnel never acts up anymore when I play a lot so it's a win for me. Try it.
Getting my third Elite 2 under warranty. The first had severe stick drift, the second P1 didn't click like the other paddles. The Elite 1 just fell apart after 2 years. Still, a high quality controller is now an essential product for me, and I still like Microsoft's offering and am willing to endure this. I hope the huge losses they must be making won't deter them from making other hardware in the future.
Both my back buttons p1 and p3 have just stopped working for no reason and the paddles rattle about build quality of this controller is absolute garbage
I had an elite 2 for something like 2 days, the A button didnt register half the time. I returned it to best buy because of that. Just bought myself a PowerA Fusion pro 2, its far better out of the box and I feel like its gonna last longer. Even the analogs on the elite 2 didnt feel right out of the box. I think Microsoft needs to focus on durability if they're going to charge 180 bucks. As it is, its definitely not worth it when you can get the PowerA fusion pro/pro2 for less than half the money that thing costs. Edit** The powera controller is trash dont buy it. I Had 1 elite 2 i bought, the first one. The analog was broken out of the box, not even connected and forced to the side and just broke. Traded it in and got the one i mentioned before with the crap a button and returned it. Fast forward a year. I bought another from best buy, and bought the 60 dollar 2 year warranty for it. I used it for about 6 months for about 4-6 hour or so daily usually. And it was great. Put it in its case zipped up for 6 months, cause I started playing on pc. Pulled it out not long ago. The LB button double clicks, i tried the paper trick and everything, and nothing works. So im going to have to use the 60 dollar warranty for 6 months use on a 180 dollar controller. I will NOT be buying another 60 dollar 2 year warranty with the one I get. Simply for the following reason. Since feb 28th, I have put about 1700 hours in Lost Ark on an Xbox one controller that cost me like 50 bucks. Thats double or more the hours I put on the elite 2. So yeah, its great, when it works. But so far im 3 down, and none of them have been good. I would say stay far the f away from the elite 2. If you have to have paddles. Go with a razer, i hear they are far far more durable than scuf or elite controllers.
Рік тому
i bought 3 different elite series 2 controllers all with different batch numbers, ALL of them had the A button not register half of the time, returned all of them. bought a SCUF controller instead and it has been working flawlessly for about a year so far.
Ive bought 2 of these and returned both of them. Within the first 30 days both of them were missing A button presses. I waited nearly a year between buying #1 and #2 to see if they would fix the issues but they didnt. I use a Razer Wolverine Tournament now and love its clicky mouse style buttons.
After 2 years with an elite 2 i can say that stick drift is minimal and the battery is good as new even after thousands of hours of runtime, which is great, however, the paddle buttons and bumper buttons have extreme wear, i have to press hard down on the bottons to get them to activate, even when they click, nothing happens unless i forcefully press them down, this is disappointing since i had an elite 1 before this for over 4 years and never had this happen, i shouldnt have to buy a controller and worry about how many times i can press a button. Note: if you remap the stick buttons to the paddles, this can reduce wear on the sticks and significantly reduce stick drift. :)
I use the controller for Battle front 2, in a period of 8 months i replaced it 3 times, I use a lot RT and LT and LB and RB, and those buttons can’t handle much clicks, that’s is unfortunate.
I decided to treat myself to something fancy after my XBOne controller developed a stick drift after ~1.5-2 years of ~1-2h use a day. Bought the Elite v2 and it got in today - lo and behold, both the A and the Y button often don't register and on top of that it doesn't charge via the dock. Absolutely unacceptable for such an expensive piece of hardware. I'm sending it back and giving it one more chance, if the next one I receive has issues aswell, I'll refund it and buy another controller. Apart from those glaring issues I was also very negatively surprised to find out that the paddles can only be mapped to buttons that already exist on the controller officially which makes them useless imo. Thankfully I've found a 3rd party tool that lets you map them to keyboard keys aswell. Could still be an issue with games that don't support using gamepad + keyboard at the same time, but for Rocket League it works.
Been watching a few videos on this controller because I wanted to try a nice Xbox controller.. but after hearing how many issues it had I'm just going to replace my DualShock 4 with PS5 controller. My PS4 controller is only starting to show issues after 8 years of use and I've put maybe 2-3k gaming hours on it.
To be honest I still use the basic controller that was in the package with the One x 3 years ago and it still work.Sometimes the A button needs double press, but that is the only problem. To be honest I wouldn't buy a controller for 150 dollar.
I know it seems pricey but it really is a game changer. Pun intended lol having the ability to use the back paddles makes gameplay so much smoother. If you game for even 15 to 20 hours a week then you definitely should get it.
I own both. I bought the original controller day one. My controller still fully works and is clean. Although I completely changed the housing on the whole controller. It made it feel brand new and much better. The original handles came off and the front became sticky as well. My series 2 controller is very solid and the analog stick tension is highly appreciated.
Where did you buy the housing from? I need to do that with mine but could not find one on amazon etc. I have taken it apart a few times due to bumper buttons not working and now it does not close properly.
After a year, going through warranty, then having it break again, I have decided to do a home repair on the bumpers. I tried using the paddles as bumpers but it just doesn’t fit my play style. Hope this works!
I have had both and I've only minor things happen. When I had the scuff vantage it sat for almost a year before I figure out how to fix the drift on my own. Alot of parts come off assembly lines. Sometimes workers may forget to oil parts. So you end up with stick drift. Take the controller apart and oil the housing to the sticks. Problem solved. You're welcome.
I got my second series 2 controller now and got the same issue like I got on the first one. The right bumper RB isn’t recognizing anymore or just on a hard push.
My first one did that a year after use, and my second seems to be heading that direction too. While it still works the pressure I have to put on the left one is noticeably less when I test the buttons in the Xbox accessories
My only problem along with many others are unresponsive AXYB buttons. You either have to hit it harder than usual or hit directly in the middle every time. I usually hits my buttons softer than what is required now. I wouldnt recommended this controller until that problem is fixed
I had to disassemble and fix my Halo Infinite Elite controller due to this problem. It bugged me a lot and depending on how I pressed A I would miss around 80% of button presses. It is much better now that I fixed it. I also had to exchange a white Series controller as both A and Y had this issue brand new out of the box.
Hmm, you mentioned that the "plug&play" batteries suck but I've been using that kind of battery for a few years now. Lasts for I dunno.. at least 10-20 hours minimum. It's difficult to tell since PC doesn't tell how much charge there is exactly. Maybe I have just been lucky. My current controller works well and has for many years but I've just been researching whether it's worth buying the elite controller since the paddles would be nice for many games. The same two things came up everywhere: sticky A button and RB inconsistency. That's really bad since RB is used for attacking in dark souls and it's the game I play most on controller. I don't think I'm willing to gamble on the elite controller unless I find it heavily discounted somewhere. Thanks for the video
No competitive gamer would use a wireless controller. I use a wire and have my USB poll rate on 1000khz/1ms. Wireless is fine for single player games though.
@@EmergencyChannel actually won't make any differences between a wireless and wired only like 1-2 milli second difference a human brain wouldn't notice that at all
As an owner of the xbox elite controller 1 I was quite surprised to hear about durability issues with it. I’ve had no issues with anything wearing out but Im prob not a heavy user like you. If anything what I really like about the controller is the truly premium feel it has of something that is well made, it sure doesnt feel like something thats gonna wear out and ive used it quite a bit but I dont know how you play games and what constitues ’heavy use’ but I would bet for any normal use of tve controller it will be perfectlt fine. For normal users, casusl play, and for peiple who just want a premium feel device, they will be more than happy with it. My only gripe with it was the lack of bluetooth which I stupidly took for granted and after having shelled out quite a high sum for it Ms shortly after released the xCloud beta which I got accepted to after having waited forever, only to then be informed that it would only work with the new type of gaming controllers that had bluetooth. Oh silly me for getting that. They have had wireless controllers forever and made a killing on the elite controller and just now realised they actually wanted to use bluetooth and it would be required for the new service. I was slightly bummed out about that. I still think though that ghe elite controller 1 is one of the finest most premium controllers one can own and will not wear out if youre a normal user. Ive tried both v1 and v2 and IMO the v2 is not a step up in terms of premium finnish and overall quality feel.
I don't see myself buying a series 2 controller anytime soon, I purchased the series 1 at launch and thoroughly enjoyed it for the first year or so but not long after I started having the grip pad problems that so many have had, I then started having problems with stick drift on both sticks and now the left stick sometimes doesn't respond to input until it's slammed hard to the up position, as you said for a "premium product" the durability leaves much to be desired and really put a bad taste in my mouth and makes me doubt the quality of their premium products.
What I think might also be happening with this one is there's just a lot of components, a lot pf electronics that might break, or might be faulty, so the chances that something on your controller is going to fail is much higher. However, one thing that's inexcusable is the fact that Gulikit's electromagnetic sticks exist, and they're not using them yet. Everyone is still using these terrible analog sticks with potentiometers that mess up so easily...
The original xbox battery packs were amazing. For the 360 and the one. I’ve used the same pack from xbox one release till elite controller 2 came out. And it still worked perfect.
I bought mine pretty much right when it came out. It's help up really well for the most part, however recently I've had issues out of my left bumper, and both of my rubber trigger lock pieces fell off a long time ago, definitely something microsoft needs to fix. Battery is still excellent.
I sent mine to the extended warranty at 8 months, now 6 months later the “new one” is defective again, called to see what they could help me with and want me to pay $100 for a replacement, omg
My first one had issues after a few months. Trigger stop broke after 8-9 months of use. Buttons double press all the time, had crazy stick drift after a few months, and the bumpers don’t always work. This all before a year. So I bought a new one, and the RB bumper stopped working within 3 weeks. I am now waiting for my Scuff Instinct Pro to arrive because I am fed up with Microsoft. This experience has shown me that’s it’s way better to just learn to play claw, then use paddles when competitive gaming.
I had mine for three days and the A button registered 3 out of 10 times at most. I really liked it when I opened the box and started using it but then my dreams got crushed.
I love how this controller feels in my hands. Amazing stuff. But the quality control...Jesus...you can see straight away that this is the same company that made Windows Vista. I bought this controller 3 weeks ago. A button is not registering light presses. or sometimes registers 2 at the price of singe press. Went back to the shop, got replacement. Same issue. I will be going back to the shop tomorrow. At this stage...I am thorn if I should try 3rd replacement or get something else...
The exterior is an enormous improvement on the first generation Elite but this week I have become one of many suffering a failing RB switch. I wonder how many of us play Gears, hammering that RB for the active reloads?
I have never had an issue other than the average disconnect scramble crap that happens once ever blue moon. Since having the series x I haven't had an issue at all.
Yep. I can attest that the disconnect issue is the Xbox receiver, not the controller. I've had a Series X with an Arctic 9x headset and elite S2 function perfect 24/7. The wife was using an older Xbox with the same - constant headset disconnects. Since she got her Series X, both of our controller and headsets never disconnect.
Microsoft needs to learn how to make this controller durable as powerA fusion controller 😔 I’ve had a elite series last a month and the powerA has been having no drift no bumper issues for almost a year 😂
had it for a few days and noticed the A button wouldn't work unless you hardpressed on it. Returned it right away and went back to the normal controllers :/
I’m very surprised y’all are having so many issues, I’ve had my elite controller for about 3 years, I put some controller freaks on the analog sticks, and I have the cheaper one, it’s done me well so far
I was about to buy one of these, until I bought an 8BitDo Pro 2 for my switch, so I'd have analog triggers. I now have one for my Switch and laptop and one at my desktop in my office. I am so lucky I found it, cuz its the perfect controller for me. Its only $50 and it doesn't constantly disconnect from the Bluetooth on my Pcs. Unlike my Series X controllers...... I love the triggers on the Pro 2.
the analog stick drift I only ever notice it on PC and I finally got a controller that actually doesn't drift even 360 controllers I had issues with stick drift from day one.
my left stick started to not work, i would push it forward to walk and it wouldnt work until 5 seconds after, my rb doesnt register unless i press it hard, and my Y button also would not register sometimes, i just ordered another one since i have a best buy warranty but is a geek squad refurbished one, hopefully it lasts
I have to smack the shit out of my RB button to get it working normally for a while. Usually gets it working for about half an hour until it goes to crap again. Hate this controller. I'm a few months away from just launching into the wall.
Honestly the Series two will probably outlast its durability and effectiveness more that 6x longer than a Scuf controller. I’ve been looking for a wireless paddled controller that lasts longer than my current one (Fusion Powera $80). Mines still going strong after almost a whole year owning it. But i want a WIRELESS controller I can connect to my gaming PC since I am not eye-hand coordinated for Mouse and Keyboard. I believe this controller may last me longer than fusion, Scuf and add on paddles.
You would be wrong. I've had two series 2 elite controllers and both had ridiculous stick drift after a couple of months of light use and on one I didn't even notice that the top paddles on the back didn't even work because they where two short to trigger the internal switch , hard to explain but when you squeeze them you don't get that click no matter how soft or hard you pull, odd issue as my series 1 elite paddles work on the series 2 elite. Long story short: the best feeling controller I have ever had. Seriously instant gratification upon picking it up. Battery actually does last an extremely long time, I Seriously believe you could run it for 24hour straight. Great charging pad/Case. BUT you are statistically very very likely to have to replace it within the year so even with Microsoft (after much customer demand) increased the warranty to a full year from 30 days you still have to ship it to them just to get a different refurbished replacement a week later. If you buy it goto bestbuy and for once buy their custom extended warranty which will give you a new replacement right at the store off the shelf.
@@ancorey25 You're right on all counts. The Elite 2 simply has the best features of every single controller on the market. I am not going to compromise after owning it. I can't give up triple trigger stops, charging case is perfect, stick tension adjustment, and amazing paddles. Scuf's newest (Instinct Pro) costs more, doesn't have any of these features, and feels like trash. Scuf's paddles have always been shaped retarded and are just plain difficult to use compared to Elite. Your only option is to use an Elite 2 for these awesome features, and learn to pull it apart to upgrade the failure points yourself. I've now replaced the tiny foam trigger stops with permanent glue (perfect now); improved the face button drift/contact with teflon material (still need some adjustment, but better); and replaced the failing bumper tactile switches following a great YT guide (perfect bumpers again). Honestly, the controller is now perfect. I'm tempted to buy a Razer Wolverine to see if the mechanical face buttons can be retrofitted into the Elite!
My Elite 1 is still going solid, my E2 had to go in twice but has been great since, battery life is a huge accomplishment, wish everybody else better luck.
I had an Xbox One controller which developed a double tapping dpad after 1 year, I bought an Elite 1 and the X button literally completely died after 6 months of light use - so much for premium quality. These things are really fiddly to repair too. I was tempted by a Series X Carbon after that but I just don't trust MS controller reliability anymore. Instead I'm getting an 8BitDo Pro 2 since it has good reviews and programming software, plus it's cheaper than MS offerings.
Bought a usb c play and charge kit for my series x controller in January, it already doesn’t charge and doesn’t work (September 2021) won’t be making that mistake again.
@Sean My experience exactly. It's funny cause the comments can go either way. If I say "The controller works great, no issues", I'll get 100 comments calling me out " Wow, you're so stupid! I've had all of these issues so your review is a lie!". If I say "This thing here doesn't work", I'll get another 100 comments like "Don't know what the hell you're talking about. Mine works flawlessly, so you probably just don't take good care of it".
April 2022, just bought an elite series 2, manufactured in 2021 week 49 so quite recently... and it had button 'A' issues not registering all inputs right out of the box
Mine went for 2 years. After December 2020 it started having issues. My bumpers stoppped working, my left joystick stopped working and now it won’t turn on
I finally splashed out and got one 3 days ago, brand new, and was faulty out of the box. Vibration was just manually going off like crazy even with no game loaded, just moving the controller/my hands and pressing nothing LOL. It was the right trigger vibration, was totally broken, and didn't respond with the software tool at all like the left trigger did, yet was going off on its own particularly when the trigger locks were closed.. I sent back to Amazon and so far the replacement seems OK. Still, for 250 Australian Dollars, you have to wonder about Microsoft quality control. That said, it's the most comfortable controller I have ever used in my life. I have large hands, not huge but large, and I have arthritis and RSI at age 50, and I can play for hours with this controller.. It's heavy yes but it's comfortable and your hands don't slip. I played for about 3 hours last night and really enjoyed it. If only it had a turbo button, as I still love my retro emulation and for the very old games my hands just aren't healthy enough to manually hit a fire button over and over for an hour anymore. If it had a turbo button I'd never need any other controller, but I got an SN30 Pro 2 for that exact purpose. Sadly, I find the Pro 2 quite uncomfortable to hold and use, especially the d-pad which causes my left hand a lot of pain. If anyone knows of a quality PC controller in the xbox style layout, with turbo, do let me know so I can try it out.
Gone through multiple replacements, it has some issues. Rb button is dead now. A button fails to register if u press it at a certain angle, this happens on every single elite 2 ive had. top back buttons fail to press in correctly, not making enough contact. Elite 2 is an amazing controller but it just cant hold up under normal use.
I have a pre-release one that I won in the Taco Bell giveaway in 2019. It's had some issues, but not with the rubber grips. The rubber nubbins on the trigger stop switches have come off, and I have a stiff paddle button, (good thing I don't use them), I had a bumper and a trigger break, and the rubber grips on the sticks are severely worn down. I made all of the repairs myself with parts from eXtremerate, and it cost me about $30. I even customized it with a new faceplate.
Had mine for over a year and it still works like new. I want to get another one but I’m waiting for a series 3. I don’t understand how people have problems with theirs. I wonder if they aren’t cleaning their hands after they eat, or being a little too aggressive with them.
2024 here. Bought one 2 months ago. Instantly had xonnection loss issues. Thought it was my 10 year old Xbox that the sync button didn't even work on anymore. Upgraded to a series x still had the issue & the other night it just completely stopped working. Could manually turn off the Xbox & turn on the console with tye controller. But none of the other buttons would get any response on the console and it acted like it wasn't actually connected. Went and replaced it and got another one which so far works flawlessly. But I'm nervous bout the way it'll work long term so I bought a gmsir g7 se for back up
I had a Gen 1 that lasted about 8 months. Grips fell off and right bumper stopped working. Nice controller while it worked. I’m to scared to buy a Gen 2. Glad to see I’m not the only one.
played 200h with it my left stick button started to give up and after 400h of game time my left bumper gave up. i have not droped it or damage it in any way.
I noticed these are back 'in stock' on Amazon again. They were gone for a few months. Does anyone know if these new stock are revised versions or just the same ones?
I’m wondering the same thing i was finally able to get one at my local GameStop. Now I’m seeing everyone is stocked up on controllers. I hope this is a revised controller
@@jidenshaotoko after a couple googles and Reddit’s i found that this latest batch can very much be the revised series 2. nothing different yet but it most likely is. We just gotta wait and see.
@@gustavoalonsorg1479 My dualsense has horrible stick drift on the right stick and the only game I play with it is Rocket League... Which means I VERY rarely use the right stick at all. The stick drift seemed to have just developed on it's own.
I’ve had a elite one for 4 years and I’ve had no problems but I’m considering upgrading. But I feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth. I don’t know if I should just wait until it stops working or what.
Sorry to see that the issues I had with the original Elite (rubber grips peeling off, stick drift, etc) haven't really been addressed in the Series 2. Hard pass.
I am looking for a new xbox controller for my pc. Not that my old xbox 360 controller of 10 years or more is failing, but I want a wireless one. Looking at this video just makes me sad. The quality is just bad 😅 guess I will stick to my 360 a while longer.
My biggest issue was the rubber near the paddles. Also the back left paddles had a piece of plastic reinforcement break off so my top right paddle doesn’t work without pressing directly where the button is located. I still bought one of the custom ones to replace it simply because it’s the best controller you can get for the money.
Had mine for 4 months all works fine except you cannot play games over the usb connection. Its fine on bluetooth but on usb the triggers dont work and the right stick bugs out massively have tried differant firmware , leads etc but its still the same on both my pc and samsung s22 ultra . Thinking about warranty now ....
I have bought three so far. Each one has issues. The back paddles barely work and now my number button is broken. I’ve always taken such good care of it I don’t understand how my 2013 Xbox controller has less issues.
I've had mine a few months now and I've gotten stick drift on the right thumbstick, it's small but noticeable to effect me during games which bugs me a lot. A few buttons sometimes don't register or
They need to fix all of these durability issues somehow I mean it’s just not fair that it breaks so quickly when it’s such a costly controller it should last like at least 2 or 3 years surely a multi billion dollar company can do that.
I've gone through several elite v2 over a two year period that I honestly cannot say how many because I lost track. Ballpark figure would probably be about 15 and considering that I buy a warranty for everything they were an easy replace, that's of course if the store where they were purchased from has them in stock. I did just buy a razer wolverine v2 chroma and I am impressed at the responsiveness as well as the durability feeling. It just feels good and responds well. I did a comparison in elden ring's melee swing responsiveness and it felt at times using the elite 2 gamepad that the swing was delayed or felt like I had to button smash the lb/rb for it to work. The razer gamepad did not have this issue.
i had at least 3 elite controllers and all had problems even had 1 where the trigger stop adjust knop broke off it is only plastic unlike the elite 1 that had metal adjusters. some other problems i had with them is stick drift, RB button registering 2 times when pressing 1 time, thumbstick grinding that created dust and thumbstick click left side not working anymore. i really want the new controller but i am scared it will brake again after just a few weeks. my elite 1 still works and have it from 2015, only a few things like the rubber coming lose on the grips and minor stick drift witch can be fixed on steam or threw ingame deadzone adjustments. i am looking at the SCUF instinct pro atm might going try that one but i hope the rubber on there grips last. i just would like to see an elite 3 that last long like the 1
After 1 year and 1 month, after warranty expired of course Mt RB Button ist not responding properly anymore. Opened the Controller and tried to fix it but had no luck.
My elite v1 was going strong for almost 5 years, but the stick drift, the rubber on the sticks having come off and some button presses not registering it has finally made it unusable. Really want to replace it but the mixed reviews of the v2 have me hesitant
What's the difference in the elite 1 or two? I just bought a refurbished elite controller. It has the paddles on back. But it's only got two different settings on the back instead of the three on both sides it's got two on both sides so I'm assuming it's the first generation elite? It looks just like the newest one though. I kind of feel like they built me a hybrid of the two
I still have the first Elite (1) for about 2 and a half years know. I use it a lot and it fell more then I like too (even a few times on the triggers) but it still works great. I will get a version 2 eventually but for now I am still happy using version 1.
Just got mine haven't tried it yet but for those having issues does MS replace fix or refund if the controller has issues? Hope I made a good choice buying this.
I Called MS, They said they would try to fix mine, but if they couldn't they would replace it. My concern is the replacement may have the same issues as my original

Same here
Lol I’m to the point with the RB that I’m about to solder a new switch in
Open the controller up, there is a plastic white piece between the switch en de RB button, get it out. put a tiny tiny piece of ducktape on it to make it a bit thicker so it registers the click better, put it back and it works all fine again. did it yesterday, fixed al my problems

its annoying especially when they don't give you a replacement thats why i didnt bought the halo one
Honestly surprised to read so many people have had so many issues with it. I bought mine second hand over a year ago and have had no problems with it at all, admittedly it's not been getting massively heavy use, but at the same time I haven't always treated it exactly...gently.
The first or second one?
If you're talking about the first one I felt the same exact way. Had mine for over a year. Buuuut just two days ago the grips started coming off. No reason what so ever I picked it up off my desk and then felt something weird on the back and woopty due grips are coming off.
"admittedly it's not been getting massively heavy use" - Well, there you have it.
@@Druskqq he doesn’t treat it gently either soooo
Just sent mines back in I barely used it it would let me connect it to my pc kept on disconnecting and only charges inside the case lol
They make more selling the licenses to 3rd party developers
i feel like they should make a back button attachment like sony did and the can use that port on the bottom next to the Auxiliary.
$$$$$
i agree they shouold at least have 2 paddle or something built in from now on.
Yup go look at the Xbox documentary that’s new they make everything in a rush and always have to back peddle on products same thing with windows Microsoft needs new leaders and strict ones
My thing is the integrated battery, I wish I could have the option to switch batteries if they start to degrade
well you can...
im sure you could replace the battery with ease, it's not like defusing a bomb

@@gela77 yep, been almost 10 years for mine.. I want something that just isn't as old. this controller has served 🤣
Exact same issue for me. RB became unresponsive.
Had my series 2 for over a year and it still works just like i got it the first time.. It literally my favorite controller and I play competitive games..
Hi Bill
Sorry, you must not really play that often or that competitively. We have three Elite S2's (nephew, wife, and myself). After all three were replaced once, we made a 100% conscious effort to baby the crap out of these "premium" controllers, which is an absurd necessity with this price tag. The right bumper on all three started double clicking frequently, the A buttons were barely receptive because they wobble too much, and the sticky pad behind the trigger moved and caused sticky trigger on two - all this after 6 months. They're engineered to fail under normal circumstances. Light gamers just don't count.
Yeah these controllers will last as long as you treat it right, no button spamming or mashing no slamming or throwing etc, had mine over a year nothing is wrong with it
This. Everyone else, user error.
You're just lucky or very careful with your controllers
My right bumper broke as well. The replacement was a total piece of cake though.
The one thing they don't focus on is the most used double movement, Left analog stick forward, L3. Every game is based on the L3 forward "running" mechanic. There's where most controllers break.
bind L3 to a paddle
@@Eddie2P F that, for a almost $200 controller, it should just work.
I put it to the bottom left paddle and it works great. Simpler. It's dumb to make you press same button and then shift forward to move. I know y'all are used to it but my carpal tunnel never acts up anymore when I play a lot so it's a win for me. Try it.
@ISitOn MyArm apparently they do
Getting my third Elite 2 under warranty.
The ones under warranty are all garbage. The only fix is buying a new one till it breaks again.
Go with a razer, i hear they are far far more durable than scuf or elite controllers.
i bought 3 different elite series 2 controllers all with different batch numbers, ALL of them had the A button not register half of the time, returned all of them. bought a SCUF controller instead and it has been working flawlessly for about a year so far.
Ive bought 2 of these and returned both of them. Within the first 30 days both of them were missing A button presses. I waited nearly a year between buying #1 and #2 to see if they would fix the issues but they didnt. I use a Razer Wolverine Tournament now and love its clicky mouse style buttons.
does the razer tourney edition have a deadzone on the sticks as badly as the stock xbox controllers have
I absolutely loved the clicky mouse buttons on the razer wolverine. Should make that standard for all controllers! Feels so much smoother en faster.
Any update?
So, how’d the new controller go
complaining about the paddles not being able to be bound to keyboard keys is such a pc thing to bitch about
Been watching a few videos on this controller because I wanted to try a nice Xbox controller.. but after hearing how many issues it had I'm just going to replace my DualShock 4 with PS5 controller.
You don't have paddles on those, And you kind of need em to go against PC players
If you're not a sweat on Warzone you don't have to worry about all that
I know it seems pricey but it really is a game changer. Pun intended lol having the ability to use the back paddles makes gameplay so much smoother. If you game for even 15 to 20 hours a week then you definitely should get it.
We definitely wanted them to have a battery but it should be a swappable type.
I have bought a protective case for it and suprisingly it has improved the durability although you wont be able to feel the natural
"oil the housing of the stick" i have no idea what that means
I got my second series 2 controller now and got the same issue like I got on the first one. The right bumper RB isn’t recognizing anymore or just on a hard push.
Same my is under warranty so im gonna do a claim
How long u using it?
My first one did that a year after use, and my second seems to be heading that direction too. While it still works the pressure I have to put on the left one is noticeably less when I test the buttons in the Xbox accessories
At that point fix it yourself or take it to a repair shop if you fix it yourself it would be like 20$ because you need gear
But if you take it to repair it can go from 100-200 aud so still cheaper
My only problem along with many others are unresponsive AXYB buttons. You either have to hit it harder than usual or hit directly in the middle every time. I usually hits my buttons softer than what is required now. I wouldnt recommended this controller until that problem is fixed
I had to disassemble and fix my Halo Infinite Elite controller due to this problem. It bugged me a lot and depending on how I pressed A I would miss around 80% of button presses. It is much better now that I fixed it.
I also had to exchange a white Series controller as both A and Y had this issue brand new out of the box.
Just had this issue with my second replacement .kept missing my shots on fifa . On to my third bad .....
I can wait to receive my Halo edition :) first ever elite controller. Hopefully they’ve fixed the problems.
I got my play and charge at launch for Xbox One. I'm still using it now and have zero issues
Ahhh have you tried pressing win g when u have the controller plugger in its shows the battery charge
I just want a controller for pc, let me know if you find a better controller.
This is what I'm afraid of too
It's such a bad controller. It's unbelievable. Should be half price for the poor build quality.
Same thing happened with mine. Sad.
It's even worse with Sekiro. Or any game with a Souls controller layout, but especially Sekiro haha
Gears, for honor light spam, dying light jump button. Rb is abused
I have had the EXACT same bumper issue on 2 controllers now, playing games that utilize clicking the bumpers drives me crazy.
I have never had an issue other than the average disconnect scramble crap that happens once ever blue moon. Since having the series x I haven't had an issue at all.
Yea that's the only issue I have too. Otherwise it works amazing.

Stick drift is a real problem. Went through 3 before I gave up. Severe drift right outta the box.
Did u try tighting the sticks?
I’m very surprised y’all are having so many issues, I’ve had my elite controller for about 3 years, I put some controller freaks on the analog sticks, and I have the cheaper one, it’s done me well so far

How did it go?
I have to smack the shit out of my RB button to get it working normally for a while. Usually gets it working for about half an hour until it goes to crap again. Hate this controller. I'm a few months away from just launching into the wall.
yea I've gone through many so I've bought a mouse and keyboard in done with expensive controllers plus my aim with the mouse is impeccable

I must be really lucky since my play and charge kits are still going strong for over 6 years now.
Nope.
I've used enough of these since the 360 era to know the quality on these is spotty.
Mine still works since day 1 2013. Haven't had any problems with it
April 2022, just bought an elite series 2, manufactured in 2021 week 49 so quite recently... and it had button 'A' issues not registering all inputs right out of the box
Mine went for 2 years. After December 2020 it started having issues. My bumpers stoppped working, my left joystick stopped working and now it won’t turn on
Don't waste your money. I sent three back for repairs to Microsoft in under a year.
Ive ordered one should be here next week. Hope i touch lucky with a good one 🤞🏻
Mine is starting to have issues now at year 2. Rubber starting to peel and the top bumper switches aren't always registering a click
I’ve had 3 of them AND EVERY TIME GOT STICK DRIFT AND THEN IT SLOWLY BRAKES!!!! And honestly don’t know why
Cara, matei no primeiro minuto de video que você era brasileiro pelo sotaque kkk.
Parabéns pelo vídeo! Muito bom! E excelente inglês!
Oshi, n reparei nd kkkkkkkkk
My 2nd replacement already failed with constant disconnection and broken LB button. I only ever use it for console port games... This is sad!
No revisions as far as I know.
@@jidenshaotoko after a couple googles and Reddit’s i found that this latest batch can very much be the revised series 2. nothing different yet but it most likely is. We just gotta wait and see.
Same here bro, I don't know if I should buy it now or buy a dualsense and wait to see if it gets improved
I had my elite series 1 for a long time with no issues, and I've had nothing but problems with my series 2
the bunch of little things the new one has adds up
Sorry to see that the issues I had with the original Elite (rubber grips peeling off, stick drift, etc) haven't really been addressed in the Series 2. Hard pass.
ummm i've had my plug and play battery kit since 2019 on my xbox one controller i use on pc and it still charges and holds charge for a long time.
The A button seems to have the same issue for everyone, love the controller I just wish it didn’t have any issues
Bro the dpad is amazing I abuse it to spam what a save in rocket league
My controller keeps randomly disconnecting from my Xbox series s.....I've got a replacement too I don't understand why it keeps doing that...
I had gotten the elite 2 in Dec'21 with my new series x. it is Feb'22 now and it has a left analog stick drift problem.
To be honest... they probably do it on purpose in the hopes you keep rebuying.
The crap warranty seems to tell you how long they expect them to last
I've gone through several elite v2 over a two year period that I honestly cannot say how many because I lost track.
You didn't talk about the MAJOR ISSUE AFTER 3 MONTHS: STICK DRIFTING. Does it happens again?
Yes yes it does I’ve had one since December 2019 and about a year in my left stick started to drift constantly
@@Dawson0905 look up the helder mod for this controller which is a permanent drift fix
i had at least 3 elite controllers and all had problems even had 1 where the trigger stop adjust knop broke off it is only plastic unlike the elite 1 that had metal adjusters. some other problems i had with them is stick drift, RB button registering 2 times when pressing 1 time, thumbstick grinding that created dust and thumbstick click left side not working anymore. i really want the new controller but i am scared it will brake again after just a few weeks. my elite 1 still works and have it from 2015, only a few things like the rubber coming lose on the grips and minor stick drift witch can be fixed on steam or threw ingame deadzone adjustments. i am looking at the SCUF instinct pro atm might going try that one but i hope the rubber on there grips last. i just would like to see an elite 3 that last long like the 1
ive had 6 elite 2s and the LB always stops working and the RB always double inputs after only 6 months
How's your controller now? Does it still work or has it broken somehow?
3 days after warranty is up, Right Bumper starts acting funny.
Microsoft killswitched your controller lol
I will get a version 2 eventually but for now I am still happy using version 1.
i got mine straight from the store but the LB & RB triggers don’t work unless I press it super hard or multiple times smh:(
Had mine a year and the y button is gone and the thumbstick in switch is gone.
Just got mine haven't tried it yet but for those having issues does MS replace fix or refund if the controller has issues? Hope I made a good choice buying this.
I Called MS, They said they would try to fix mine, but if they couldn't they would replace it. My concern is the replacement may have the same issues as my original
My oem controller lasted 3 yr without problems? No drift & still going
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the bumpers. I had to replace the bumpers almost ten times before I quit using it.
I actually did :)
