- Reupload to fix an audio issue. Sorry bout that!
The first ever total conversion mod for Doom, from way back in 1994. It's a little primitive and a little rough around the edges, but it's damn impressive for something that released only months after the game itself first came out! You can see how a licensed Aliens game from Id might have turned out in an alternate universe where they made that instead of Doom.

Ah, no more audio issues, neat!
I genuinely wonder how Doom would have been if it had been an Aliens tie-in. I'm sure it'd have still been a great game, probably an even scarier one (as shown here), but I think id needed more freedom to make a truly great game. Just look at any of Sandy's maps. Love em or hate em, they're unique and give Doom its own identity. Generic space bases with a few alien-infested hallways here and there can't carry an entire game.
Also, funny how the maps kind of look like Tom Hall creations! :D They all fit neatly into a little square and are very lifelike. Just like he wanted.
I didnt fix bumping into the wall though!
As much as I love Aliens, it's kind of a very restrictive setting to stick to for a video game, especially back when there were only two movies out. It was either dark spaceship hallways or dark industrial colony hallways. Aliens TC is probably right around the right length, any longer and it would really start to get frustrating or boring.
I'd definitely did the right thing in going their own way

Also ShallowVA: "Imma just add my own graphical mods to this thing because consistency is for jerks"
That rad suit overlay is awesome! You made it yourself?
The graphics are a combination of the cut space suit and the scuba gear from Duke 3D, and the rebreather from Dark Forces, but the SBARINFO code that actually handles it was done by me. I actually have it set up to color itself to match the players sprite, which is why it looks so green here. If the player chooses a different armor color in GZDoom, the suit overlay will match! Still needs some work though, the space suit overlay doesn't scale to the screen correctly. And I'm not sure I like having so much of my screen covered up at all.
I think you spent so much time worrying about the rendering on those crates because you've developed too many crate expectations.
