This piece was inspired by "One Hundred Aspects Of The Moon", a series of woodblock prints by the last master of Japanese Ukiyoe, Yoshitoshi. Fifteen of his one hundred scenes were excerpted in various ways to bring out different aspects of the images. Although each piece has its own musical style, they are all connected to create a world whose energy is released by the same kind of culture clash that made Yoshitoshi's work so distinctive.
