I am just coming across this and want to say this is beautiful. I lost both my grandmothers to the illness. One had a fast form it happened so fast. The other a slow form called vascular dementia. Over time this kind and beautiful lady, my grandmother who used to live in Knightswood, Glasgow bit by bit forgot the people she loved and cared about. It was so heartbreaking to see my grandmother go through such an awful illness. I will never forget her before the illness struck and hold on to the precious memories of those times when I was a little girl. Sending my love and empathy to you and your family Amy.
