You can figure out your individual raid den rng seed by doing the den reset date change exploit and noting the pokemon given, raid difficulty and the IVs it has on capture like 5 or 6 times. The program will then dig through the predictions of the RNG once it finds the seed and spit out how many den resets you will need to do to get the desired value
As a late FYI, you can't *manipulate* SwSh RNG AFAIK, but you can use it to your advantage. Here's how. 1. Find a raid den with your desired 'mon in it. It can be any raid den, just make sure you know which one it is. 2. Set the text speed to slow. 3. If the den already has a beam, do the raid battle then save. Once you have, throw in a Wishing Piece and check if the beam is purple - if it isn't, immediately exit the game, reopen it and repeat until the beam is purple. 3. Save the game again once you've got your purple beam. 4. Get programs like Raid Finder and Seed Searcher, then input which den you're at and which game you're playing into both (make sure you've set the beam to Rare). 5. Use the date skip glitch to advance to frame 4, and catch a 'mon from the den with 2 or 3 perfect IVs. Seed Searcher will tell you which have 2-3IV. If you don't find one, reset and skip back to frame 4 - the 'mons are randomised so you'll find one eventually. 6. Once you've caught your 2-3IV 'mon, use RaidFinder's IV calculator to calculate its IVs, and then put in its IVs, nature, ability and characteristic to Seed Searcher. 7. Seed Searcher will then tell you to find a 'mon with 2 or 3 IVs on frame 4 again - repeat 5 and 6 for this. 8. Once 5-7 is complete, do the same process as 5-6, but on frame 5 and 6 with any 'mon. 9. Hit "Search" in Seed Searcher. It should then give you the seed of the den. 10. Put the seed into RaidFinder, then apply the filters you want (IVs, nature, ability, star/square shiny). 11. Give RaidFinder an appropriate range of frames to search (I pick 0-10,000 usually), then hit "Search". 12. RaidFinder will tell you which (if any) frames in that range have the parameters you gave it - you can now skip to that frame and catch it I don't count this as RNG manipulation because you can't control which frames the mons you want appear on, but its still a really cool technique for RNG abuse that has netted me some nice shiny Gmaxes.
This video gave me flashbacks to setting up my Platinum Cute Charm game, that took days. Totally worth it though! I might have to give this a try, it looks painful but rewarding. Awesome video, you have a really good voice for this sort of thing.
There is a program for SwSh that you report your catches on raids and can get your seed for shiny raids with no modification (you do have to use the time skip glitch to go ahead some days in game).
brings back memories when i used to RNG abuse Gen IV and Gen V it feels so nice to get it right, like your effort has paid off of learning how the RNG works in the game using EonTimer on the continue menu and Chatot Chatters to advance the frames back then
Whoah, this stuff really interests me. I never knew the way shinies are calculated would be done like that, I figured it was just a whole bunch of random numbers and then also heard it involves the trainer ID. It's also interesting how the resulting bits just have to be less than 16, because that still just gives you a single value that you can change to alter the odds as you see fit, without changing the algorithm that's finding the value to be compared with it.
Hey, so you're style really came out in this video. Definitely one of your best I reckon, and your cadence felt perfect. Sounds like the nonfic style class helped. Great video!
I've been RNG manipulating White version and have my dream team all shinied out with perfect stats. It's definitely worth looking into, especially if you're someone who's short on time and can't reset many times for Pokemon. The processes involved in RNG manipulation are tedious and frustrating at times, but it's worth it.
Tech Rules, a more technical version of Summoning Salt. Long disappearances for quality over quantity and all. And I won't have it any other way! EDIT: Wow! My most thumbs-upped comment ever and my first ever top! Thanks for the support you absolute legends!
I was once messing around grabbing dittos to breed shit with and found a rando shiny cleffa. I fucking RAN from it before my brain had processed any facts other than "not a ditto". Long story short I SoS chained cleffas out of internalized anger for... like an hour and a half or so until a shiny happiny popped, I called it a win, and left. Honestly, shiny hunting in newer Pokemon isn't THAT time consuming. (My fave shiny hunting came out of ORAS tho. Easy. ORAS was also better for egg hatching. I mean really it was just overall a better game too, so there's that.)
In Moon I got shiny Eevee and Charjabug before my brother lost my cartridge. In Alpha Sapphire I got Destiny the Feebas in chain fishing, Vortex the Ralts and Ignite the Vulpix via DexNav chains, and Lor the Duskull who was the first in his chain, so he was nearly random. I also got Bella the Oddish and Bubbles the Azumarill via Horde encounters. 3DS games just had really good Shiny methods tbh (except for XY’s version of the PokeRadar, I hated trying to use that nightmare)
I'm more of a shiny breeder myself, I managed to get 2 shinies through eggs this week but now I have a cramp at my thumb from turning the joystick for too long. And I still don't want to try this because numbers scare me. So I'm off to hatch another 200 Goomies, if you don't mind...
this is really cool. i never thought i would be able to understand like anything at all when it came to this sorta stuff bc i thought it would be hard to understand but this video was surprisingly easy to follow
ive done rng abuse in hgss and i gotta say, its much faster to determine your seed: you can use prof. elm or juggler irwin phone calls and the roamers' locations. in dppt you can use the coin flip app. i think its fun that they seem to always add a feature that works as a seed checker
I taught myself all this back when you mentioned it in the last video, but sadly had no luck. Reading the clock hands gave me an error half the time, and the eontimer just seemed to do whatever it wanted; setting itself for a time completely off from what I was putting in, which in turn would increase every time I tried redoing it. Doesn't help that the beeping completely threw my timing off. Trying to adjust didn't help at all, as the calculator would claim I was anywhere from a few frame to an entire minute off the target. Ended up just giving up and going about it the old-fashioned way :/ Oh, and let me explain the shiny charm real quick: the game generates a new PID for your pokemon every frame. If you have the shiny charm, those PIDs are held for three frames instead of one. You'll notice in the calculator that there's always a cluster of three frames with identical values, no matter what you look at.
I feel like I’m listening to someone describe what they do for a living and I stopped understanding a few minutes ago but they keep talking and I keep smiling like an idiot.
This sort of thing that happened to you kinda happened to me TODAY. I was looking for Razor Fangs on wild Bruxish in my Ultra Moon game, and fished in the same spot over and over again. Wishiwashi, no...Wishiwashi, no...Wishiwashi, no...Magikarp, no..., Wishiwash- *ding* O_O *Level Ball*
Took me 6.5 hours of manual hunting to get a shiny alolan Vulpix and probably 10-12 hours to breed a shiny noibat (I didn't have a shiny charm which might have helped). It's a lot of work but 2.5 hours to get any shiny you want is a huge time save!
This is a nice, simplified, and enjoyable video showing RNG manipulation :D the beeping reminded me of the many nights I stayed up RNGing shinies in Emerald lol
I had to listen to it back but yeah I can hear it. I think it's less the voice and more the enuciation? They have very similar ways of speaking even if Drew's voice is higher in pitch.
The shiny value egg thing is apparently changed in SwSh; the shiny value is changed when it's traded, so if it was shiny, it will be after it's traded, and vice versa.
When researching this myself, as a shiny hunter and not a mathematician, reading the algorithm in isolation didn’t help me but in the end I was just happy to know exactly which values I was re-rolling for.
I swear, am i the only one who played pokemon games for like thousands of times, yet never encountered even a single shiny pokemon? anyone?, no? just me? :(
I remember going through my second playthrough of leafgreen back in around 2016. I found a blue ditto on victory road and was like "haha why is this blue maybe it's a boy" and caught it. I didn't even know what shiny was at that time. I've never had any shiny interactions since then
Ayyy I caught a shiny Golbat in Crystal a few months ago, just level grinding in Victory Road. Very interesting and informative video. Thanks for bringing us on this journey with you! One tiny little thing I'd like to be pedantic about though, is you say something like, "Maybe the Shiny Charm just makes clusters of Shiny Frames, and that's how it increases your odds..." I don't think that's how probability works. I am pretty sure there is some law that states that "clustering" things together doesn't make them more or less likely to occur. You see this fallacy a lot in, say, Monopoly, where people think if they buy a whole bunch of properties that are right next to each other, their opponents will be more likely to land on them. In actuality, your friend who has the same amount of properties scattered all over the board is just as likely to have you land on his property. In the case of Shiny Frames, I think clustering them together would only increase your odds if you are specifically aiming for them--because it gives you a wider margin of error. If, like most players, you are just randomly encountering Pokemon and hoping for a shiny, then the only way the Shiny Charm could help is by increasing the number of Shiny Frames--clustering them together wouldn't make a difference.
In regards to 8th gen / SWSH RNG abuse, you can very much manipulate the RNG without using cfw or with the assistance of a cfw user. The only RNG abuse possible in SWSH is raid RNG, as Eggs, all wild Pokémon and fossil Pokémon use cryptographically secure RNG which cannot be predicted or manipulated. Manipulating raid RNG using cfw or with cfw user assistance is certainly a lot faster than non-cfw, but you will end up with the exact same end results with either method. I'd recommend looking into it if you are interested, as it's really quite simple once you get the hang of it although the process for advancing frames in gen 8 is really tedious, so there's a bit of "luck" involved in finding a good initial seed.
I've never done any of this RNG stuff but lately I've been playing a lot of Pokemon Crystal (Japanese) and I forgot how much fun it is, I'm gonna have to keep on grinding though to beat Red xD
As someone who has done a lot of Gen VII RNG manipulation, I can confirm shiny charm increases the cluster of shiny Pokémon frames by a lot, sometimes you may find clusters that exceed 60 frames, it gets quite crazy. Said clusters can also happen without charm, but are much less common.

12. RaidFinder will tell you which (if any) frames in that range have the parameters you gave it - you can now skip to that frame and catch it
I don't count this as RNG manipulation because you can't control which frames the mons you want appear on, but its still a really cool technique for RNG abuse that has netted me some nice shiny Gmaxes.
He named the thing he tried catching for 2 hours iron will..
"Beep!? Why beep!?" - Tech Rules
"greatball then, break out of this!"
Dugtrio: breaks out
:O
“Let’s Abuse RNG to get a Shiny”
Yes, that’s how it works
Can you do an RNG video on Halo 2’s gravemind? Cause I swear, the only way to beat that level on legendary is to pray to RNGesus
"legendary gravemind"
*sounds of infinite screaming*
That level and Cairo Station literally made me want to pull my hair out.
The Doctor told me today, 50% of the arteries in my heart are shiny! 😊
This video gave me flashbacks to setting up my Platinum Cute Charm game, that took days. Totally worth it though! I might have to give this a try, it looks painful but rewarding. Awesome video, you have a really good voice for this sort of thing.
That Master Ball _sent_ me. I'm crying, the panic in his voice when the great ball failed LOL
I started chuckling when he caught the shiny golbat
There is a program for SwSh that you report your catches on raids and can get your seed for shiny raids with no modification (you do have to use the time skip glitch to go ahead some days in game).
Even though it isn't a guide, I feel like this video is basically "How to catch a shiny if you aren't a masochist"
“The game is still receiving updates.”
Me: Oh how I wish that were true.
Gen 7 footage always brings me back to the good times.
I really love Alola and especially Nihilego.
And Team Skull, yo.
brings back memories when i used to RNG abuse Gen IV and Gen V
it feels so nice to get it right, like your effort has paid off of learning how the RNG works in the game
using EonTimer on the continue menu and Chatot Chatters to advance the frames back then
Whoah, this stuff really interests me.
OFF shiny hunter? hello new friend
Your fear of the mushroom copyright kingdom and your personality earned a sub
This is the kind of logic that'll lead to dimensions and timeline hopping some day
Hey, so you're style really came out in this video. Definitely one of your best I reckon, and your cadence felt perfect. Sounds like the nonfic style class helped. Great video!
Shiny hunters on suicide watch now that you've invalidated their serotonin machine
I love how casual this is, it's so much fun to watch!! You keep making these videos, and I'll keep sharing it around!
I like how there "Tech Rules Bits" videos are very long
Still far shorter than researching the info ourselves. There’s no way I’d understand half the stuff he talks about without these
I've been RNG manipulating White version and have my dream team all shinied out with perfect stats.
What? Summoning Salt is about speedrunning. Tech Rules is more broad.
MachoManAlex YT what he means is the videos don't come out very often but are very good
I felt so bad laughing at the Golbat, but I'm glad you got what you wanted. I love the tech info!
Shiny hunting is so easy in S/M even without rng manipulation. I do think it's cool though.
@@valkyrie-randgris Me and a friend on amino were hunting eevees. I didn't even have a shiny charm, and I got the shiny first.
Wait, you guys are getting shiny’s?
In Moon I got shiny Eevee and Charjabug before my brother lost my cartridge.
In Alpha Sapphire I got Destiny the Feebas in chain fishing, Vortex the Ralts and Ignite the Vulpix via DexNav chains, and Lor the Duskull who was the first in his chain, so he was nearly random. I also got Bella the Oddish and Bubbles the Azumarill via Horde encounters.
3DS games just had really good Shiny methods tbh (except for XY’s version of the PokeRadar, I hated trying to use that nightmare)
You encountering that shiny Golbat by accident while aiming for a shiny Dugtrio was probably the best part of this video.
I'm more of a shiny breeder myself, I managed to get 2 shinies through eggs this week but now I have a cramp at my thumb from turning the joystick for too long. And I still don't want to try this because numbers scare me. So I'm off to hatch another 200 Goomies, if you don't mind...
I struggle with maths a lot, so the amount of numbers and technical stuff in this video gives me so much retroactive stress haha.
They brought the Alolan Diglett family back in IoA. I have never been so happy.
this is really cool. i never thought i would be able to understand like anything at all when it came to this sorta stuff bc i thought it would be hard to understand but this video was surprisingly easy to follow
"u should watch anyways because ... I DUNNO PLS"
ive done rng abuse in hgss and i gotta say, its much faster to determine your seed: you can use prof. elm or juggler irwin phone calls and the roamers' locations. in dppt you can use the coin flip app. i think its fun that they seem to always add a feature that works as a seed checker
Ended up just giving up and going about it the old-fashioned way :/
Oh, and let me explain the shiny charm real quick: the game generates a new PID for your pokemon every frame. If you have the shiny charm, those PIDs are held for three frames instead of one. You'll notice in the calculator that there's always a cluster of three frames with identical values, no matter what you look at.
>insists on five reasons instead of four
>Gives four reasons and a reason to not use five reasons
"Wait a second, this entire operation was your idea"
I feel like I’m listening to someone describe what they do for a living and I stopped understanding a few minutes ago but they keep talking and I keep smiling like an idiot.
9:08 "simple right?
No no it. i mean if you're a programmer"
me: 👀 _a actuel programmer_
This sort of thing that happened to you kinda happened to me TODAY. I was looking for Razor Fangs on wild Bruxish in my Ultra Moon game, and fished in the same spot over and over again. Wishiwashi, no...Wishiwashi, no...Wishiwashi, no...Magikarp, no..., Wishiwash-
*ding*
O_O
*Level Ball*
Congrats!
It took me 437 encounters in my chain to get a Shiny Wishiwashi, they look great!
What did you name yours?
Took me 6.5 hours of manual hunting to get a shiny alolan Vulpix and probably 10-12 hours to breed a shiny noibat (I didn't have a shiny charm which might have helped). It's a lot of work but 2.5 hours to get any shiny you want is a huge time save!
6:46 actually in a datamine in SwSh, this was proven false. The egg is determined to be shiny or not as soon as it's made.
I think this is an 8th gen change to specifically address egg trading.
This is a nice, simplified, and enjoyable video showing RNG manipulation :D the beeping reminded me of the many nights I stayed up RNGing shinies in Emerald lol
His voice sounds a lot like Drew Gooden
holy shit you're right
I had to listen to it back but yeah I can hear it. I think it's less the voice and more the enuciation? They have very similar ways of speaking even if Drew's voice is higher in pitch.
During the time this video was in process of being made, PKHeX was calling from the other room like “Come to bed honey, you’re working too much”
"error of margin". ^_^ you're wonderful.
The shiny value egg thing is apparently changed in SwSh; the shiny value is changed when it's traded, so if it was shiny, it will be after it's traded, and vice versa.
"A quick video, you say..." Says me as I stare at the almost 28 minutes.
Hey, that's 15 minutes shorter than morst videos!
Someone that actually likes Alola dugtrio as well? It's a miracle
Will you do another video about the process of consoles being hacked, like the xbox 360 or any other console?
Modern Vintage Gamer has very good coverage on how people break the security of consoles
This video took so much work! I’m proud of you!
Gen3 would be easiest Emereld is busted. I think there is a person here on UA-cam who focus on this aspect named I'm a Blissy.
All the gen 3 and 4 games are easy to RNG in, it's just that emerald's rng seed is set to 0 so it will always do the same frame order from startup
When researching this myself, as a shiny hunter and not a mathematician, reading the algorithm in isolation didn’t help me but in the end I was just happy to know exactly which values I was re-rolling for.
I swear, am i the only one who played pokemon games for like thousands of times, yet never encountered even a single shiny pokemon?
anyone?, no? just me? :(
Me. I've seen one, and that was before I had pokeballs.
I caught a shiny sandile once but i traded it away to my mate
I found a shiny kingler once in Sun
I remember going through my second playthrough of leafgreen back in around 2016. I found a blue ditto on victory road and was like "haha why is this blue maybe it's a boy" and caught it. I didn't even know what shiny was at that time. I've never had any shiny interactions since then
Ayyy I caught a shiny Golbat in Crystal a few months ago, just level grinding in Victory Road.
Very interesting and informative video. Thanks for bringing us on this journey with you!
One tiny little thing I'd like to be pedantic about though, is you say something like, "Maybe the Shiny Charm just makes clusters of Shiny Frames, and that's how it increases your odds..."
I don't think that's how probability works.
He was saying that's probably how that game processes it, not how probability in general works.
"A Trainy Shiner" haha
Nice stuff man! You def have more patience than I do in my playthroughs 😂👌🏼
👀
Very interesting! Didnt know this, as shiny hunter
really love the content my dude, ill guarantee that if you keep this quality up you will be huge sooner than later
Video starts @5:40
"this is gonna be a quick video"
*sees 30 minute video* well, not really
Well yes, but actually no
Glad to have a new video. Great work on this one and hope quarantine is treating you well.
Next video: How to hack youtube!
Release date: never
I hope not though...
im so happy youre getting good sponsors your videos are so good and you deserve all the money in the world lmao
08:38 you missed my trainer ID on platinum by 4 digits
Just saying: doing this on gen III is aaaalmost the same idea, but way easier.
Such a great video. Really love the way you explain it all without going crazy intense. Really looking forward to watching more content from you. But for now looks like I will just watch your previous videos, join the contest to maybe get that shiny, and check out the twitters!!
