Martina...you are living within your means, that's completely honorable & ethical! You don't need to feel guilty about anything. Hey enjoy that beautiful Drops yarn, and I'm looking forward to seeing all those beautiful socks you're going to make. Blessings ~ Sue
To fly with knitting needles, detach the needles from the cord and store the needle with some pens or pencils… they’ll blend right in if scanned.
Perfect👌🤍
Do you pop them out if you want to knit on the way or do you just transfer them on the flight like that? :) I want to knit all the way so I haven't had the courage to try to take my undetachable chiaogoos with me to the cabin.
Your colorwork is beautiful 😍. And no one is yarn shaming, use whatever you want, its your art and your rules. You don't need expensive yarns to make beautiful things. You are an inspiration ✨ ❤
Love your comment, Stina🤍Thank you for being here!
Happy birthday! Wooden needles have always been fine for me on the plane ….. I have watched fifty fabulous podcast for quite a while … how very kind to donate some patterns to give away! Have a wonderful trip to Dublin and make many happy memories with your sister! Thank you for taking the time to podcast …. Your episodes make my day xxxx
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊 ENJOY YOUR DAY, WEEK,MONTH, YEAR & YEARS AHEAD!!
Wonderful podcast as always!!
From my knowledge you can take wooden needles on the planes. I always have them on cables and bring stoppers in case for whatever reason they ask me to remove them I don’t have to rip my knitting off the cables.
Also.. happy birthday! Hope you have a wonderful time away with your sister!xxx
I love what you're wearing. I've been hearing good things about that designers patterns.
I also love your give away pattern ...looks like little leaves. How kind of you and Pia to gift them. ❤️❤️
Thanks for your wonderful podcasts and to Pia for her generosity in this giveaway. Happy making to you 🥰
Hi Martina, I appreciate your attitude to protect the nature and avoid the harm to the animals. I hope you feel well being less harsh to yourself since you are doing already a great job! We play our roles well and let the others be what they want to be, and try to ease ourselves from taking responsibility of the others. I like working with natural yarns as well as making garments for my family and friends. But some of them don't get used to taking care of natural pieces which even makes them be stressful, I felt so sorry to give a gift that is no suitable for my friends, that's why I started to accept synthetic yarns to be worked with.
Spring has sprung and I’m knitting summer yarn garments with linen mixed with light merino, with viscose and cotton. It gives somuch enjoyment and peace. Somehow I want to bloom myself by putting on my new handmade clothes. I love your excitement for your own creativity!
Holding the yarn double for heels is a great idea, I'll have to try it next time I make socks!
Just love love your podcasts i am amazed how quickly you knit up your garments they are amazing and your English is very good thanks so much take care x
Loved your podcast and also the red top that you are wearing. Happy birthday to you and have a great holiday. Pia has beautiful designs and I love them too.
Thanks for your giveaway.
Martina ways look forward to your joyful podcasts. Your red top is so beautiful ....have a safe and fun trip
Happy birthday! I’m so glad your not a yarn snob! Pia’s patterns are beautiful!
I love that you took the time and energy to discuss the complexities of ethical purchases in such a vulnerable and honest way
Thank you!
Thanks Martina for the new episode! I’m enjoying it sitting on the couch while it’s raining outside ☺️ Your knits are amazing and that red color is just stunning on you!
Martina, I've recently done a 5 hour flight from UK to Jordan and I knitted all the way. I asked the security at the airport before I went, they said any knitting needles were okay, however I chose to knit on wooden ones to be 'safe'
I'm always glad to see you've posted a new video, Martina. :-) Happy birthday! Auguri! I love Pia's designs but didn't realize she had a podcast on UA-cam. Of course, I subscribed. Have a wonderful time in Dublin. Call the airline, but also be ready to give up your needles. Switch to a cheap set you won't be sad to lose just in case of trouble at the airport.
What a fantastic way to start my Saturday!! Thank you, thank, you, thank you!!!!! Blessings to you and yours….
Happy birthday. My three kids all have birthdays the first week of May. I love that too too and the colour suits you. So beautiful. 🥳🍷
You bring me calmness. Thank you very much for your insight with your fiber. Journey. I love learning.
The extra color you chose on the bottom ruffle actually looks really good because the shadows of the ruffle are darker so they match the shirt it just looks fabulous good job beautiful work
Love your podcast, Martina. As for knitting needles for traveling, I watched Jonathan’s Day podcast and what he did was only to bring wooden or bamboo interchangeable needles, take out those needles from the cable, put needles stoppers on them and put them inside a pencil case (together with few other stationary). That way they will show or look like “pens or pencils” on the scanner. He travelled around Europe not long ago. Good luck, safe journey and happy birthday🎉🎉🎉.
Another lovely episode! I get so excited when I see the notification of a new one coming up😊! Safe travels to Dublin! I would love to see footage if possible! Your projects are a true inspiration! I really like your idea of placing a button on the cardigan to make it a cross over; that would look so cute! 🥰❤️
Hi Martina, I am excited to check out the Spanish designer, I like your design from her. I hope you have a very happy birthday 🥳,and don’t have to cook, and get to do something that makes you happy! all the best, Melissa.
You’re so inspiring to me! Thank you for your podcast and sharing your life with us! Happy Birthday 🥰
Also, walking and knitting 🤯🤯🤯 I can't knit without looking at my needles/stitches, so I'd be bumping into everything and/or very slow 🤣🤣🤣 Amazing party trick lol
Hello Martina, i like you're podcasts so much. Thank you for this. And you're knitting projects are so beauty. Have a nice time with you're Sister. I see you, Christel 🌈🐝🌻
Think you sooo much for your beautiful podcasts! You are such a beautiful person and I look forward to your time with all of us! I send you hugs from Northern Virginia in the USA! 🥰
Happy Birthday, I really liked your projects. Thank you for your generosity.
You are such a joy to watch, thank you so much for your inspiration for my own knitting projects. It is a conundrum with price/ethically sourced and produced yarn but it does allow more participation and inclusion for knitters with not so much money to enjoy this lovely craft.
I love love love how the cloud berry tee turned out and the colours you chose! I want to make one for myself, it is so beautiful! I also want to make the tank top with the leaves! I love the patterns from Pia Trans as well! I really like your aesthetic and colour choices with all of your knits.
Have a good trip!
Happy birthday Martina and best wishes. This colour is so lovely on you. How lovely of Pia to gift you her two patterns. I love both. Love your podcast and look forward to see you every time. I can’t believe when you said before that you are a fairly “new” knitter. Your work is wonderful.
Really enjoying your videos. Thank you for sharing all your makes. They are beautiful. I wanted to say that when I traveled from USA to Poland I had no issues with my knitting needles. I brought my Hiya Hiya exchangeable set on the plane without any problems. They are metal tips that are 4 inches long. I just put them in my carry on back pack and not a person bothered me about them. I did get stopped on the way back to USA and my needles where in my carry on back pack, but it was a jar of honey that they wanted to investigate. Hope this helps.
I love your UA-cam videos and the fun summer tops you’ve made. I keep missing out on button but I’ll get some I know one day. Keep on living your ethical and outdoors life. Italy is so beautiful. Love both of the tops designed by Pia. Thank you for the recommendation. Have a fun trip.
What! Fabulous to see a podcast of fabulousness! 🎶🌷🎶🌷🎶🌷🎶😉🎶
So much joy 🤎💐💐💐🤍Thank you💐🥰🤎🤎
Happy Birthday, Martina! I love all your projects. Thanks for introducing us to Pia Trans. She has so many lovely designs! Safe travels!
I recently found your podcast and I’ve been obsessed ever since! Went back and watched them all from the beginning. Your style and calm atmosphere is very inspiring ♥️
Really enjoy your podcasts. May 3rd birthday is mine. Taurus love to create , be home, and enjoy simple things. I love your buttons and when I’ve complete my sweater I know they are a worthy investment for all my time spent making and will deserve a special set of buttons. Have a wonderful birthday month!
I really would LOVE to make a “sort of”Ranuculus like your Drops Bumull-Lin one. I love the yoke design but also want it more fitted. I love that you are giving us more affordable ideas (especially for summer yarns as our summers are so short in Canada)!
I’ve been watching Fifty Fabulous for awhile and enjoy Pia’s podcast as well as yours. Thanks to both of you for sharing her patterns.
Want to wish a wonderful birthday! As usual a fabulous episode! I enjoyed the episode where you showed yourself knitting a garment.
You are always cheerful and your podcast brings joy in my face whenever I watch. So natural and genuine and wild like you. Thankyou for sharing the patterns of pia. It is your generosity. Always loved your podcast. Keep coming them.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy them🤍🤎
So cozy to spend a rainy afternoon with you! I just also got some drops muskat in almost the same color as you to knit an ankers tee :)
Taking wooden needles with me on the plane has never been a problem for me (I've been flying with different european airlines lately). Just leave the project in the bag during security check and you should be fine! Have a happy birthday and a wonderful holiday!
Dear Martina, happy late birthday 🎁 🎉 I am happy to know it’s around now so my gift is on the way to you 🥰 Hope you will receive it when you are back from Dublin. Enjoy the time with your sister, I am missing mine who lives far away from me too. I like Pia’s designs but didn’t have a chance to knit them... yet! Hugs from Switzerland ❤
How lovely the patterns from Pia Trans ❤️❤️❤️ and how sweet of her to gift the patterns 😊 thanks so much for sharing such great content in your podcast 🥰
Hi Martina, drinking my coffee and enjoying your wonderfull podcast with all those beautiful knitting garments and wips.
You really inspire me with your pattern and yarn choices, the end result is always so beautiful.
Thank you for the giveaway, that pattern is a must have for the summertime.
Have a nice sunday,
Greetings from Belgium
Pia's designs are so pretty. I've never knit one of them but have always wanted to. I also really enjoy your podcast and hers. xoxo
Happy birthday Martina. Thank you for speaking about affordability versus sustainability. At the end of the day it's still far more sustainable to buy an 'unethical' yarn and make the garment yourself than buy a premade fast fashion item . Small steps and changes add up. You've inspired me to try plant based yarns. Enjoy Ireland.
I am always inspired by all your knits. I have had the Brise sweater in my Ravelry Queue and want to knit it. Happy Birthday and i hope you have a wonderful time in Dublin with your sister. I can’t wait to see video footage of your trip. 😊
Beautiful presentation, as always!
I love your needleless work in progress ❤️. Another great podcast.
Just bought yarn to make the flutter top in a bamboo blend... I'm excited 😁 ❤️ Your pod brings me joy 🥰 Happy Birthday to a beautiful soul 🎈! Wooden needles have not been an issue flying, although I mostly go inside the US. I agree, I would not take my favorite ones which have metal connections... Have a lovely visit with your sister and please share scenery from Ireland, I nearly went once and would love to see it. Thank you for the giveaway too, you are so generous. 💜
Thank you Martina for another wonderful episode. Your projects are all beautiful as usual and so many! You’ve been very productive. I think your cardigan would look amazing as a crossover. Happy birthday for May 4th. Have a wonderful trip.
I wish you a wonderful birthday. Thank you for putting kindness out to the world.
Oh thank you 😘
Love your podcasts. Have a lovely visit with your sister and Happybirthday.
Thank you for another beautiful episode! All of your projects look really amazing! 😍 When I flew from New Zealand to Germany I was knitting on wooden needles throughout the whole flight and it wasn’t a problem at all and I also took my knitting on a flight from Colombia to Germany and no one said anything. From what I heard it really depends on the airline, I’ve heard for example that emirates doesn’t allow knitting needles at all. I would maybe contact the airline and ask them just to be sure… I wish you a good flight and an amazing time in Dublin with your sister ❤️
Thank you for sharing! Enjoy your visit to Dublin.
Believe me or not but I waited everyone to go to sleep so I can watch your podcast peacefully and without any bothering ☺️
I really like those videos where you show all the knitting process of a particular garment, I encourage you to make more of them.
I would be super happy and exited if I won in the giveaway because I liked very much both patterns ❤️
Have a nice trip and wonderful time with your sister in Dublin. And Happy birthday in advance 🎂🎉🥂
I'm honored to have kept you company during your peaceful evening🤍I will make more of those videos for sure👌🤎
Hello Martina and thank you for your lovely podcast. I love all your makes and your yarn choices. I'm always afraid to use a yarn different from what the pattern suggests because I have a difficult time getting guage. I have a ton of cotton yarn I want to use up. Your podcasts provide me with lots of ideas. I look forward to seeing more of your buttons.
stumbled over your podcast, and i really enjoyed it! you use such lovely colors. also, about knitting on the plane: i usually bring spare needles if i have checked in luggage, and put my work on a separate thread during security, just in case they take my needles. knitting is fairly popular where i live, so its not been a problem for me, im not sure about the rest of europe.
You share a birthday with my son! Sending all the well wishes. Thank you both for the giveaway; how generous and exciting!
Happy Birthday Martina...🎂📦🎉🎉🎊
thank youuuu😘🥰
I enjoy your podcasts and I love all your garments. Each one is unique and beautiful. You choose such gorgeous colours. Pia travels a lot with her knitting. She is the one to ask. I’ve followed her for a long time and she designs beautiful garments. Enjoy your trip to Dublin. Happy birthday!!!!! 🇬🇧🧶😀✈️
Love your podcasts. Thanks for sharing all you do. Happy birthday and safe travels to Dublin and back!
What a generous giveaway! I enjoy Pia's podcast and think her patterns are beautiful! Perfect for spring!
You look fantastic in the flutterbutt, btw. It's like that pattern was made for you.
It was lovely spending time with you. I love the look of the Milkweed...I just might make one for myself!
I love both of your podcasts and really appreciate seeing all the plant based fibre projects you showcase
Happy Birthday!! I so love your personality and genuine soul. Thank you🌺
Fab podcast as usual ❣️🧶❣️light and fun and inspirational - you are truly special 🙏have a wonderful time in Dublin and I hope you take a spare bag to bring back some yumi yarn!!! 😋🧶🧶🙏❣️🌈
I love all your spring FOs! I had not seen the crossover tee before, and it looks like a good summer top as well!
And happy happy birthday and many many blessings to you
The Flutter Buttshirt design and colour suits you so well! Now this pattern has to go into my knitting queue. Thank you for always giving me the best inspiration 🥰
Loved all your wips, feeling inspired. Thank you. 🥰
😍loving all your projects. I'm adding all of these patterns to my favorites and ravelry queue.
Hello Martina, you are very inspiring in your choices and I love your podcasts. You have very good taste. Regarding the airplane issue and knitting, Jonathan from the podcast "Jonathan Day", a guy who is knitting, and who went to Ireland and the US last year said that he would take wooden interchangeable needles, take it off his work and put it in a pen pocket together with other pen and blocked the cables to keep his work on place and he had no problem at all. What I would do, just to be on the safe side is to call the company and to ask the question about their security policy on that matter. Enjoy your trip, and I looove your olive tree buttons and all your work. Floriane
Floriane (love your name) thank you so much for your tips! I'll do that and hopefully everything will work out fine👌🥰
Happy Birthday, Martina. I hope you have a lovely time in Ireland. Your knitting is just beautiful! How wonderful you will be making buttons!
I just wanted to say be long to yourself. We all have moments in time we're we can't afford "luxury, sustainable, fancy" yarn. But that doesn't mean you have to stop doing the thing that brings you joy. You don't have to justify your purchases to anyone. This is your space. Also fun fact. You and my son share a birthday. So happy early birthday!!
Thank you so much for your support 🤎wish your son happy birthday from me💫
I'm so glad I found your podcast! I will be checking out your Leaf top video for sure! I also enjoyed hearing about all of the plant-based fibers you are using- so many podcasters focus only on wool! Thanks for sharing your projects!
Happy birthday Martina, love your lovely podcasts. Your knits are so inspiring and I can't wait to get your stitch markers ❤️
Happy Birthday. Love those patterns and it’s sweet of you to have a giveaway to celebrate you! (My sister has the same birthday 🎂 🎉 )
Happy Birthday (almost) to you! I love the sweater patterns. I hope to make my daughters this sweater. Thank you for sharing your projects with us. They are all so pretty.
Just bought Pia Trans Doodle Sweater. So lovely and on 8mm needles will be quick to knit.
Hello Again Martina...and "Buon Compleanno" my friend! Another wonderful video :) The teacher in me had to tell you that you pronounced "mercerized" & the other word correctly (can't remember what it was now). You really do a wonderful job with your English, so no worries. Have a wonderful holiday in Ireland, my dream is to some day travel to Italy & Ireland, so I will look forward to hearing all about it! I believe the weather we have in the San Francisco Bay area (I live about an hour inland out in the country from the city) is very similar to the mediterranean area where you live. We've been having ferocious windy spring days, and then beautiful spring sunny days (back & forth continually) I loved the new Milkweed Sweater, a great new project for you to work on. Safe travels from California🙂
Hello Sue🤎thank you for your lovely comment💐I wish you to travel to Italy and Ireland too, they're both very interesting countries 🤎
I love your Podcast 💕😘
Many greetings, Jutta
Happy Birthday lovely lady. I am enjoying your podcasts and the items you are working on. You are doing a great job and are a breath of fresh air always.
Happy Birthday to you I totally love ❤️ your podcast and all the items you make. You have such a great style. I can't wait to see what your husband gives you for your birthday have a great day
A beautiful podcast as always. I've travelled all over Europe from Canada and have never had a problem with my knitting needles. I usually take sock metal needles and it's not been a problem. However it's worth checking or put them on wooden needles and you will be fine.
Love your beautiful projects.
Thank you for another great podcast, enjoy your trip to Dublin, it will be lovely to see your sister. I'm visiting my sister in the states atm. Happy Birthday 🎊🎉
Happy birthday, Martina!! Hope you had a beautiful day!! I love your channel and always look forward to what you have to share. I also love Pia’s podcast - her creations are 💯. Whoever wins the pattern will be very lucky 😍
Awww 🥰 Happy Birthday! Love your channel so much!
I've been watching you since you uploaded your second podcast video you seem like such a kind soul! I love your attitude towards life. You also inspired me to knit my first ranunculus and try out linen yarn. You were right, it's definitely hard to knit with at first but I'm starting to enjoy it. I hope you have a great rest of spring!! :)
Thank you for being here Lauren🤍 happy knitting 🌼
Thanks for a beautiful podcast. And have a safe trip to your sister. I never had any trouble with knitting needles on airplanes 😊
Hi! Love the podcast :) About flying with knitting: I've had no problem flying from Europe to the US (where you'd think they're super strict) and I had metal needles, but I put needle stoppers on the ends, and pushed them into my yarn so it was clear what it was for! I don't think they even noticed it! When I looked at the computer screen at the security I saw sticks with my heart-shaped needle stoppers on the ends, which was quite hilarious :) xxx
hahah I love that image: sticks with hearts 😍I'll try that too! Thanks for sharing 💛
Martina, with your dying your yarn, to wash it and not have it shift colour, you have to be sure to wash it in a ph. Neutral soap, most wool wash is ph neutral, so is pure Castile soap. Most laundry soap(powdered) is alkaline, and will shift the colour of your top, it would make it golden, more dark, so be careful choosing what you wash your top with, I love the cloudberry top, it has been in my queue for awhile! All the best, Melissa.
Thank you so much for your tips Melissa🤍
Love both your podcasts.Have seen Pia since before she moved to Italy, and love your homemade wooden buttons, how cool.
So inspiring! I’ve struggled with buying sustainable fibers, they’re just sooo expensive! Our house is for sale and then we will buy a large plot of land to homestead and I would love to get goats and sheep and make my own yarns! But until then… Hopefully, we will be on our new land by fall time.
I also wanted to say that your Flutter Buttshirt is sooo cute! I have saved the pattern, maybe I’ll make it after I finish my ribbed bralette.
Wow your plan sounds very similar to ours! I really wish you to find your perfect place and build a beautiful life there🤍
I hope all works out for you
Hi, I have knitted and travlled for 40 years and have never been stopped or my needles have never been taken away. I fly mostly in Norway, but has travelled to the whole of Europe. I have heard that there are restrictions to Latvia/ Riga and Estland/ Talinn, but I have never been stopped. To be sure, bring wooden needles. Maybe things have changed since the corona. I flew last week and brought my wooden needles in Norway, no problem.
Dear Martina, it's very inspiring your work, your knitted garments are all beautiful. I wish I could knit so good as you do. I wish you a happy happy birthday! ☺️
