What you said Maya, "in my pursuit of waking people up I was in reality pushing people away," because they were not ready or able to hear what you had to say, was gold. If people understood this, we would have so much less political strife in the US and the world.

Same. I went through something similar in my relationship and I had to take a breathe and respect our differences. But it's true when she said you want your person to "get it" and be on the same page. It was so frustrating when we didn't see eye to eye.
But I do hate being called a conspiracy theorist...just say difference of opinion or point of view. Especially when each side can find valid points to support their opinions.

I'll just say this, NEVER stop thinking. Never stop learning. Never stop questioning things. And don't let people call you a crazy conspiracy theorist for doing so. You've always struck me as someone who needs to keep learning and acquiring knowledge, no matter what it is. I recognize it in you because I'm the same way. Some may have demonized critical thinking over the past two years but It's actually one of my best qualities! I totally agree with you on the rabbit hole point and not imposing your newfound knowledge on others.
And you're right, Confirmation Bias is very real, and ran rampant in 2020. On both sides! My approach is identical to yours. Take the information, make the necessary adjustments to your own life, mind ya business and keep it movin' 😄. Let people see to their own lives. There's sooo much peace and freedom in that. Great video guys!

There’s nothing wrong with learning or investigating things, but I find that many conspiracies have no utility in life. The whole IRS thing is an example…I know people who claim to know all the rules and laws, but they are broke and the IRS ain’t checking for them anyway. What I know personally, is they will come get your ish!!
What’s the end goal to knowing all of this stuff? That’s always my main question.

Yea a lot of Conspiracy Theorist usually congregate in a hive and it usually seems like their theories just become their identity. Can be a bit scary when you notice it happening to people. There’s nothing wrong with having this sort of personal awakening( unless it causes harm to self or others), but the 24/7 contrarian disposition to even the smallest things in life can be off putting. Balance is key. Good content, I’ve never seen a video of a couple talking about this.

So I distinctly remember when I noticed Maya’s “rabbit hole” content start popping up and I got nervous. I unfollowed a few other creators who seemed to fall fast, but stuck with Maya because I never felt like she was yelling “wake up sheeple!” at me and I trusted her faith and loved experience to give a strong spirit of discernment

I have learned that as we are on our individual life journeys of growing and learning, we have the desire to share what we have learned with others but everyone is at a different place in their lives.
So to try and rush others to reach where we have gotten, others are just not there yet. But you can go and meet them wherever they are at.

I appreciate that Maya pointed out the benefits of class and necessity of disposable funds in becoming a conspiracy theorists and that Max highlights how community plays a factor in if these individuals sink or swim in this arena.
So many people get viewed negatively because they’re either poor and taking on this attitude OR they get ostracized by their core support group and are labeled weird. But, this dichotomy is rarely talked about from a class standpoint.

Great convo. I fell into the rabbit hole in 2020 and I got so emotional. it certainly didn't help that everything I was coming across turned out to be coming true at every turn which in turn got me more emotional and I too shared that urgency to "wake people up" though I see now that I was terribly lonely and I was looking for a loving ear.
I went through an existential crisis in the summer of 2020 and I got overly depressed and I often asked myself what the point of knowing all of these things was if it meant such a miserable life. I often prayed to forget it all and wished many times I had never come across it.
Oh how I envied my friends their ignorant bliss.
Fast forward to 2022 and I have calmed down, have stopped sharing links - thank God- except with those new friends who have already been down the rabbit hole. I made this decision to be more respectful of other people because I was once in the same place. Prior to 2020, you'd have had a hard time of it convincing me of even the smallest things I hold to be true today.
What I don't regret is having had the experience and knowing what I know today, it has changed me at the molecular level - for the better may I add. Quite difficult for anyone to believe I'm sure, but I feel genetically changed.
On the downside my ability to read anything from scientific data to maths to philosophy has developed so sharply that I am unable to have mundane conversation about anything. In 2020 and 2021 I read the bible, the Quran and the Bhagavad-Gita four times - each.
On the upside I now read books that had been sitting on my shelf for years because I didn't have the mental acuity to understand them and I have taken full responsibility for my health. I don't go to doctors anymore and this is the first time that I have never been sick in my entire life. since 2020 I have not even as much as sniffed whereas I used to fall sick every winter. I'm a teacher and my students have really remarked at how interesting my classes have become.
    Sorry fo the essay.

So I think one thing that’s important about people who believe in conspiracy theories etc is that they are trying to critique and subvert the system or status quo without understanding how the system works to begin with. Specifically with vaccine conspiracies- go to your local community college or online and take a biology, chemistry, or biostatistics course. Familiarize yourself with the processes that built modern medicine today, before claiming that it’s all a lie. Discourse and challenging ideas is healthy, but we have to have some shared language/ knowledge to exchange those ideas.

Great vid Maya and Max! I can definitely relate to this in some way because my mom went down the rabbit role in 2020 when the pandemic hit. I thought she had gone absolutely crazy but turns out a lot of what she was saying was valid! Ahaha and it took me about a year to come around and see her point of view after countless frustrating debates and arguments about her beliefs. She’s a believer in homeopathic medicine, getting off the grid and trusting the government less. And I agree with a lot of what she says to an extent! I think it’s just about being open to having those conversations in the first place instead of shutting people down because they don’t have the exact same views as you. I remember in the beginning of the pandemic she said something about the virus being man made in a lab and off the bat I disregarded what she said. But there’s news coming out now that has some imperial evidence pointing to the virus being invented in a lab (Jonny Harris, an amazing journalist did a video on this: ua-cam.com/video/HwUtjG3u8l0/v-deo.html )
My mom also pushed boosting our immune systems, eating healthy and exercising as a way to stay healthy. And as of this year, (being a medical student and understanding how all these factors physiologically help the body to fight disease) I wonder why the media weren’t pushing these methods to remain healthy and instead promoting an “all cure vaccine”. And when you dig deeper you find the media is in bed with pharmaceutical companies. And so the media and pharmaceutical companies all benefit from an all encompassing focus on the vaccine for everyone. I think it’s important for us to have an open discussion without getting shut down immediately but also having balance and realizing that there’s only so much you can do with the new found information you have.

At 14:24 I am really interested to hear Max expand on this point and see what he was going to say. I’m the person in my relationship who asks the ‘why’ questions and likes to delve deeper but my partner has said something similar to Max in that they don’t have an interest or sometimes maybe the capacity (for lack of better word) to go deeper. I really want to understand how it feels to be that person in the relationship a bit more - i think a lot of tension can arise from one person not feeling heard and the other feeling like too much is required if this dynamic isn’t mutually understood by both parties. Would be a great topic to expand on. Loved this video thanks for sharing!

Interesting topic. Rabbit holes and extremism can be dangerous and scary. Like Maya said ppl get into echo chambers on the internet and suddenly have a group of people confirming everything (even the most far-out) beliefs. Without having your theories be challenged it can lead to making bad decisions like extremist violence (which we are seeing much more of lately) or just generally dissent. Ppl don’t want to participate in the agreed upon rules of society anymore or have open conversations with ppl who think differently. That’s scary and I think the consequences are scary. Humans are an interconnected social species. We can’t all move to a remote area and set up survivalist camps. So I think the rise of all these various separatist movements are troubling.

I just didn’t see the point in trying to drag a stranger out of a very obvious rabbit hole or the benefit in trying to “call” her out, wish sucked cause I really loved her content. I think it’s important to ask questions and think critically but once it starts to cause an unraveling of important social, occupational and relational aspects of your life then you’ve gone too far. Critical thinking also requires self reflection and a lot of times people get so stuck in their conspiracy theories that they avoid being accountable to themselves. My husband has known all this since the day we met 12 years ago, I was open to listening to his theory but never cared about learning the informations, because like Max, I didn’t care and thought it didn’t matter and wouldn’t change my life.
Once I had all this information I also started attacking my family members and wanted everyone to wake up, but turned out terrible, it just pushed them away.

I'm so triggered right now....my husband is caught up in this and it's led to his mania/bipolar we didn't even know he had ( it was sooooo in the background he was so functioning so well noone even thought or saw it all his life)....anyway everything is broken now and I'm really despairing. We are in year 4. It's great to see this discourse and I will send it to him and I'm taking lessons as well. Thank you for being open
This is so insightful for me omg. That aspect of time and money Maya mentioned was such an aha moment cos this happened during the pandemic so all the time in the world and he wasn't working cos airports were closed but the gvt was subsidising all those affected. Now he's unemployed - doesn't belive in wearing masks and even with that lifted now his mental health is gone. It went too far cos now it's not just about conspiracies there's a health aspect to it which he doesn't acknowledge so walked out of treatment. I can't get financial assistance unless he gets officially diagnosed ( he won't see anyone again). It's so hard. It's so complicated but my main focus is to be his safe space cos I don't want him to feel noone sees him or hears him or values him. It's hard going though and yes I know I need to mind myself too but it's easier said than done. Will still try tho 🥲
And it's so fear driven. He's so comfortable with paranoia now because those conspiracy sites never talk about good news or positive things happen. Like at least if they had that side too but it's all doom and gloom.

I like the movie style quality of your videos. Keep it comin'! What an interesting conversation. I learned a lot! What I'm stressing about may not even be on other people's mind at all. Learning to listen when someone else is stressin' about something, without judgment, means just being there for them. Realize that they may be going through something that can feel very lonely and you are their strongest supporter. And check yourself. Learn to calm down and relax. Great advice.

Love your channel. You are one of the few UA-cam influencers that are mature, professional, knowledgeable and present your material in a respectful way. I love what you have to say, how you go about doing things and how you present yourselves. You don't brag about what you have and your accomplishments, and that is so important. You have such a nice family and business Keep it up, keep up the various content topics and continue to grow. You are young and very mature for your age, and you should be very proud of yourselves.

Such wisdom..as a Christian The Holy spirit is in our lives to lead us and guide us into all the truth we need to be wise in this world. So of course, there are things that will be brought to our attention for our protection, for repentance and for many other reasons.
Her is a few things I have learned:
1 Corinthians 1:18-31 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
The Holy Spirit helps us to discern whatever cross He has ordained us to bear for the glory of God. These God ordained fire appointments purify and the power of Christ is the gold and glory!!
    Philippians 1:16
“The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds.
There are some crosses we are not meant to bear. And can be avoided, these are those that others place on us because we don't know the Heart of God for our individual lives, via the Holy Spirit. We all have different callings and difference of gifts and graces. God has us all in different seasons of life.
Then there are those situations that we bear but don't have to, because of sin, flesh, the world and the devil. We get to ask The Holy spirit what each circumstances are purposed for in our life. Some to judgment for grace to repent and some to mercy for grace to rejoice. But all through the blood of Jesus Christ!! When the Holy spirit reveals the truth to us in every trial, He always shows us what to do and there is great victory. He gives us a knowing of how to maneuver in each circumstances by faith in what the Holy Spirit reveals. This is why it is so important to have a fresh connection, fresh repentance and flow with Christ beautiful Spirit!! He will provide us fresh new ways to overcome. He teaches us all things. When we depend on Him for all things and seek His heart in all things. As we acknowledge Him in all our ways He will direct our paths. We need to refuse to proceed without Hearing a word form God. Don't allow the enemy to rush you, and don't rush God. Refuse to struggle and plow forward in you (flesh). Wait in Christ..Only proceed forward when you are fully persuaded in Christ!! We will know what battle to fight and which ones to stand still and see the victory. We will have no wasted energy..We will have power to use all our strength to worship God. Which is the greatest commandment!!All will lead to the ultimate goal .less flesh more of Christ..I die daily.Amen.🔥✨🔥✨🔥✨🔥Godspeed to you and your family!! In Jesus Christ name hold your testimony in Him..

I ALWAYS HAD A HUNCH YOU WERE AN AWAKENED AWARE PERSON!!!!!!!! I stopped following pretty much all of my old fave UA-camrs because they were totally on one side of the spectrum lol and I’m just so SO happy you are embracing your beautiful mind out in the open, despite censorship and groupthink. I also had a great awakening a couple years ago and felt the depth, the intensity of the questioning. I totally understand the need for balance and groundedness, however I think your rabbit hole madness is so raw and honest. And as much as there were people resisting, there were people like me who needed resonance, needed connection with like-minded people. I wish I had seen one of those rabbit hole videos then! Anyway I am so glad I watched this. This is so so healing for me.

I have found myself getting into rabbit holes at times. It can be very, I dont know, reinforcing or intriguing to find some information especially when it comes to the government. Theres so many things we dont know, I think it makes us feel in control. But it can also be scary when it becomes an obsession, or you see someones personality begin to change.

We live in a capitalist society, a lot of the questions and fears ppl have are valid. And conspiracy theories are an effect of our reality. Ppl are trying to make sense of the fact that we live under an exploitive, coercive, and hierarchical society.

I’m curious for clarification, I’d Max a Christian too? Something you said made it seem like he is. If so, I’m curious if it was hard for you that you share the same faith but that he couldn’t understand why you were going down the rabbit holes you were going down? I feel like for me when I share beliefs with someone and they disagree with any rabbit hole im going on I feel very isolated, defensive, and like im doing such wrong. I think this helped me to clear up that I don’t have to seek validation. This is an interesting take, thanks for creating it!

I did, too. I unsubscribed from Maya on Insta because I drew a line in the sand with people who were promoting messages that made people think a lifesaving vaccine was some sort of conspiracy. Soooo many people (esp in the U.S.) died because they were made to believe a medical treatment was some evil political or government control thing. To be honest, I am actually not sure if I ever started following again on Insta, but I have slowly picked back up with Maya (and Max's) UA-cam.

Great video Max & Maya. Going down the rabbit hole gave me the knowledge and power I did not have before. It allowed me to understand how everything thing works. The information I gained allowed me to make decisions and choices, based on knowledge and power, not fear. I appreciate Maya’s information during that time. I also appreciate information I gained from others as well.
