    Hey Mike, many years ago I believe in 2014, you fixed my old 1998 Suzuki gs500 over at RevMoto. I got many more years of service out of it thanks to you. Now I have a 2021 Ninja 400 and I'm happy to have found you on UA-cam! Do you currently have your own shop?

    Put oil in your oil filter first before installing onto the bike

      Ok

      Does the manual say to do it? If not DO NOT DO IT, you can cause debris blockage and screw your bike

    • @robertcraft4437
      @robertcraft4437 7 місяців тому

      You should do it naturally because the oil filter is dry and you don't want to attach the filter to the bike dry it should have oil inside before riding again. Let the oil soak into the filter. Before attaching to bike.

    Oh man, i just changed the oil on a 2024 ninja 500, and it seems as the dealer service center tightened the filter so tight, it was metal to metal contact and i almost didn't get it off, the filter wrench couldn't do it, so i had to use a old serpentine belt and large wrench and even then, almost didn't get it, had to use the belt and wrench a whole turn before i could get it off by hand, and once off the top metal part of the filter where the seal sits was completely smashed as if it had been put in a vice.. was worried, dealer told me when i bought it, that they were going to drain and replace factory oil and filter, for better quality.. WOW can not believe they let whoever did the replacement work in the service center.. Worried someone cross threaded it, realized they did, then just tightened it so it wouldn't leak, thankfully that was not the case.. WHEW... I had came to your video, looking for someone removing the filter, to make sure it was a normal thread and not left hand, and that's when i really got SO worried! Thanks for your help, could have been even worse with out it!

    Hi, I just got my ninja 400. Is there any other maintenance I should look for besides oil changes, and cleaning of the chain

    • @kakodaimon_
      @kakodaimon_ 6 місяців тому

      1. Make sure your chain tension or slack is in spec every time you clean and lube your chain. Correct spec should be written in the bike's manual, and adjust when needed.
      2. Spark plug condition and gap should be checked. Correct gap and service intervals are in the manual.
      3. Air filter must be cleaned and replaced when needed. Check manual.
      There are many other maintenance items for any bike. Read the owner's manual.

      Your owners manual will tell you the service intervals for everything. - spark plugs, air filter, valve clearance checks etc...

    Really great video. It will help me when I go to change the oil on my bike. Thank you 😁
    Perchance do you have the torque spec for the drain bolt off hand? I haven't been able to find it in my manuals 😬

      @@TJ-ze4tr I bought the ninja 300 oil change kit and did it myself and perfectly fine I’m already at 1800 miles and I change it at 1329 and I ride it everyday and it’s what I use to get to work and run airins so check it out I believe it cost like $45 after taxes.

    • @motomecha530
      @motomecha530  Рік тому

      Yes, especially if you never did the 600mi service. I change my oil when I notice the gears don't shift as smooth, usually around 2500mi intervals.

  • @jacobvera2856

    Do you have to keep changing the drain bolt washer? I don’t see why you have to when it’s a washer. Unless it’s cracked

      I know a lot of people flip it and get one more use out of it. Supposed to replace it every time, but i definitely wouldn’t use it more than twice

    Have you ever service a 2004 Vulcan 2000?.. Getting an accurate oil level reading on that thing seems like you need the stars to be aligned and maybe a little bit of witchcraft.
