I've watched a lot of these videos and noticed that Adam pures his shots without returning his setup posture hands to the same place at contact. I'm curious as to the biomechanics of this. Does it have something to do with the way the body moves through impact and or the way the shaft deflects/droops? His hands are slightly above and closer to the ball at contact than they were at setup. His student in this video did the same thing. Thanks. Love this content.
I’m about as close as you can get to returning back to the same spot from setup to impact, but not even the best players in the world get the shaft within 4° of where it started at the address position. To diagnose this precisely, you have to understand that my arms are at a 6’1 wingspan with a 5’8 body… which means my hands will hang a little bit lower at the setup with the butt end of the club below my belt buckle! From there, I maintain my posture very well, but use the ground to push slightly up through impact to create more force which will raise the shaft slightly, but not much at impact. If I were to have shorter arms and higher hands in the setup, there probably wouldn’t be much difference at all. I just get where I feel comfortable in the setup and where I need to be at impact to hit it well. I get my players to match their dimensions as well.
@@PorzakGolf Thank you for this explanation. I see the hands slightly above and closer to the ball with a majority if not all of the pro player swings I've looked at and wondered how biomechanics, swing dynamics, and shaft droop factored into this. Whenever I try to match my impact hands to my address hands, I end up with contact way towards the toe. Flush contact my impact hands finish similar to yours. I have seen good players who do match their impact hands to their address hands.
Off topic question, but are his swings short for the drills or is that his true backswing? If it is his true backswing length, is this something you would look to change?
I personally hit more consistent and solid with a shorter back swing. Hit 9 iron 150, 8 160, and 7 170. Every time I try and get more rotation it falls apart. I’m happy with those numbers
@ right on right on. The only reason I was asking is because I have a similar backswing and people always comment that I need to get longer. But im the same as you, im just a bit more solid with this shorter swing. I did have a lesson and my instructor didn't feel like I needed to get longer, just worked around everything else to improve.
@ haha, ya people say the same to me. And I big part of me wants that rotation. But at the end of the day, as long as it’s consistent and you’re scoring well, that’s all that matters. Just look at Jon Rahm
Phonebooks? Someplace still manufactures those? I thought those dwindled away with the disappearance of phonebooths and prevalence of cell phones... I have long liked the concept of the belt angled toward the club shaft and ball at address, and then rotating the pelvic region on that tilted plane. Its what I see when looking at pictures of all the Tour Pros that have been known as great ball strikers. I've heard of the Jack Nicklaus and Rory Mcilory thought of keeping the hands under a table / razer blades. The head under a ceiling and chin over a tabletop you shared could be useful. I knew Ben Hogan's clubs were said to have been 6-8 degrees flat by modern standards, but I didn't know that Arnold Palmer's were as well. Thanks for the new knowledge. 😉
That was Big Kev looking for alternative ways for people who didn’t have a down slope… that’s what my father used for me to hold my spine angle and actually to maintain my balance throughout the swing
I've worked and worked on "feeling" my hips are rotated to 45⁰ at impact. I took video of my swing today and it looks like I've made zero progress. My hips are almost square to the target line at impact...maybe very slightly open. They rotate nicely as I'm coming through but too late. 😬 I DK if I'm ever going to get this. When I make a conscious effort to really rotate them...totally focus on just my hips...the club face is open or I just make poor contact. 🤬
Dude I was just going to write a comment asking to make a video about height and in the middle of the video you talked about it. I am also 5'7 with long ass arms 😂I tried shortening irons and hated it and moved to standard length with -1 degree flat. Is there any truth that people with longer wingspan than height should have a more vertical swing and people with shorter arms should be flatter?
This student, with that extremely short backswing gets a lot out of it. Curious to see what he could get with a longer swing. Reminds me of a hockey slap shot,
Come hell or hi water this man is gonna teach us how to play golf dmt! 😂 another good one keep em coming man!
You bet! 🙌
"I call it the ..........." This guy has a name for every single piece of the swing. Love it!
Such an important aspect of the golf swing. Thanks for making this clear. Happy Gilmore was right - its all in the hips!
What is the distance with what club ? He has a short back swing like me..just curious
As always, a fantastic video
I play my best golf today. Thanks for the videos. I want to take online lessons but just don’t know which one!

Those feels you use when mentioning Jack and Rory are all Porzak Golf thoughts! … chin on glass table top, head under ceiling! 🙌🏻
