    I remember Brighton beach complete with lumps of 'Tar' mixed in with the pebbles, and trying to find a spot to lay out your towel was a fete in itself. What happened to the 'newspaper' ? definitely better flavour when wrapped in newspaper, plus you always had something to read whilst eating. waste of wood, much nicer to suck on ones fingers when finished. as for the peas, you could either buy tinned whole green peas or processed peas, the latter mushy style.

I will probably try to make my own in a home fryer. Deep fried in oil. But in America I will make home fries, which is sliced potatoes with onions fried in a skillet. Yummy!

    You can't dip a chip into a cup of shiny glossy whole pop when you chew them peas because they don't stick to the chip, they just move out of the way all rolly like and stay in the cup . So if you just paste up enough peas to make the whole ones stick to the chip , then , there you go. Also you could just mushy up your own peas if thier given to you whole. Also if you dip your elbow in a cup of whole peas they don't stick to tour elbow therefore not putting you in a weird " I've got mushy peas on my elbow " type situation. Plus you know when your eating them " unmushy peas " that they are only peas and not something else mushed in as well.

      Mushy peas are made from marrowfat peas which are a large fat pea with a texture more like a bean. The normal "garden pea" is what is normally served with things like roast beef and in fact most meals that have "peas" as one of the vegetables. They are greener, smaller, and sweeter than the marrowfat ones. Horses for courses. If you want to have a quick, cheap, but substantial, easy soup, use a basic tin of pea and ham and add a small tin of mushy peas. With some crusty bread it goes down well on a cold day. All that for about £1. Double it for 2 people.

    The proper way to really eat fish and chips: 1) Eat it when it's still piping hot. 2) Shut your gob, and turn off the camera and dig in. 3) Lose the prongs. After a few bites they'll be soaked with grease and useless. 4) Beach location is optional.

    That is the worst commercial for Fish and Chips I have ever seen. As a frequent visitor to the U.K. I am often referred to the local "Chippy." What they don't tell you is that in most smaller towns the Chip shop might only be open a few hours at lunch time and maybe a few hours in the evening. They always seem to be closed when I want to eat, so I end up having Pub Fish and Chips anyway.

  • @andrewlaw

    Please tell me this is a joke? You recommend eating on a beach and not in a fish & chip restaurant? Cold soggy fish & chips on a beach after sweating in a box or hot crispy fish and fresh chips in a restaurant? No mention of malt vinegar and salt on your chips and tartare sauce with your fish? The only thing you got right was doing your research before buying it. There's plenty of poor chippies but only a few good ones.

    Fish & Chips , I thought it was cool eating them , expensive to get out in the restos so I cooked my own , found out it was too greasy a meal . I dreaded them since.

    • @andrewlaw
      @andrewlaw 5 років тому

      That's because you've not cooked them properly. This video was a horrible representation for good fish & chips where the batter is light & crispy and not at all greasy.

    Y’all should have filmed the talk first, then bought the food, walked really fast to the beach, ate it right away, and edited it so it became cohesive. Nobody wants you to eat soggy fish and cold chips.

      not at all, this video is tongue in cheek. Of course there is not right way to eat it and we have barely eaten it at the seaside in our lives, just it is a classic British thing to do :)

    I don't understand : why the peas (mushy or otherwise). You run the risk of getting vitamins - admittedly not too many - with all those nice calories.
    There's no green in the British flag, so why. Educate a Currywurst fan please.
