They've shown the barbarian forts to be circular, variety looks great! Just wish they're weren't so many open routes, with there we're only 4 openings or have gates.
Yeah, that's the kind of detail I was hoping for. Awesome thing is though that with the new MOD tools announced you can make your own custom battle tiles for use in the campaign. So someone could make this a reality : )
iEat Crayons What else would you call any thrown object? Missile noun 1. an object or weapon for throwing, hurling, or shooting, as a stone, bullet, or arrow.
iEat Crayons You can turn it off in the options menu for a more realistic look, believe it or not. Don't try to find all the negatives in a game you may not like.
The best part of this new kind of forts, for me, is that they funnel attacks in such a way that you have more time to play with. Time to see what kind of units are forming up, the direction of their attack, and have time to prepare for receiving them. Much more dynamic and fun than walling off indestructible walls of timber with praetorian spam..
It looks cool I cant wait till next Tuesday. I wish they would stop the general from suicide charging ppl though. They should try to program him so he joins the battle but is more support unless needed.
It does look like an improvement over the R2 forts. Those things were kind of restricted and did not allow for much maneuvering, both getting in and keeping attackers out. This one looks like you can at least set up an interior defensive line and just let the AI come right in to break upon your lines as they continue getting pounded in their flanks and rear by the ballista towers (which I'm sure that a human player would make sure his archers take out first).
Are you gonna do a campaign when Atilla is out (so basically now)? I really like your style of playing. You were the first total war youtuber I watched, with you Parthia legendary campaign. But when that series stopped (because you got slaughtered :D ), I went on to other youtubers. I would really enjoy a new campaign by you!
Hmm, a bit improvement but i still got shocked how CA still put forts or fortress very simple as usual. In case for the Romans for example, they shouldve put a typical unique castra design, a complex n strong one made from stone. I have this personal idea for this cause like if the barbarians have camp options why dont i put the same thing on civilized factions, only this one we can build a complex fort w/ development lvls such as 1st lvl is made from wooden palisade then after some turns we can upgrade to brick or stonewall. This is very logical idea right ? I still a bit disappointed after this. This fort is only barbarian type. CA should put more on forts design.
I agree on that. Being able to build forts up like low tier cities would be really cool, but you should not be able to take it with you as with the barbarian camps, as it is imposible to take walls with you, but the upgrades should still apply. This would make for a far more interesting campaign I think, as it would require even more strategic thinking.
I don't know how it happened historically, but isn't such a fort just a place an army builds when they stay in one place for a few weeks/months? I don't know if they would build it out of stone immediately. How I see it, it is more some sort of reinforced encampment.
Djosjowa I think (not 100% sure) they would build a wooden wall or something like that first, and when they would stay longer they would improve the defenses.
Raymond Benjamins they did every-time the Roman army marched they would construct a wooden wall. While the huns form a massive wagon circle. although such a system would be nice
Where are the gates?? What is ca doing? I'm so glad I didn't buy this game yet. Thank you for making this video , this way I know 1 of 3 of my hopes are crushed lol. Plus the troops still run over the tents and with no gates the Huns will crush the hell out of most armies lol. I hope they improve this and how can rome 1 have the best forts? It's so true and it's sad. But the size is cool.
Yes and I'll tell you why, CA likes to skip things recently and if they skipped the gates what else did they be lazy about ? How can u have a fortified stronghold with no gates!!?
Yeah I've never seen an historical fort where there are just massive gaps in the walls to let people in and out. Seems a bit stupid for a fort... A defensive structure.
keep in mind that Romans would set up decisive positions when they stooped marching all they did with this is build walls and keep guards at the entrance. but this is just the roman plus think how long it will take to build workable defensive gates in 1 night.
Yeah true, i don't think there should be gates, but maybe a raised wall with a ditch? The most simple of things that was very effective and it isnt even in the game.
How do you get forts in Total War: Attila? I have Western Roman armies in defensive mode for multiple turns along the Rhine, Danube, etc., but when they're attacked there's no fort. It's just a normal open battlefield. All I get Is a few deployable obstacles and such.
+Pags i have found that if your too close to a river it will be a river battle not a fort battle. but you still get deployables. personally i prefer fort battles to river battles so i back my armys up a bit or cross over
Anyone, please help! My specs: GPU: GeForce GTX 860M CPU: i5 4210M CPU@ 2.60GHz 8 gigs of ram. I can only run attila on max performance. What could i get to increase the way attila looks and get it so it wont lag?
Seriously, not even Emperor Edition R2 in multiplayer is that much of a clickfest for a 4 minute battle. Of course, we might simply just play differently, but I am still worried about the unit morale.
Huns? how the hell did you got them atack you in 396??? i i'm 400 and i have + relesion ship with them and i'm playing on hard what dificulty you are playing?
Because the AI would much rather attack in conditions that play in its favor. I've dealt with this playing each game all the way back to medieval 2. And Rome 2 is a poor excuse to use, the AI in that game is on par with a brutish monkey that believes it's a good idea to just throw random armies at you in plain daylight because they want absolutely no chances at beating you. This mechanic is nothing new, it's just being taken advantage of more often by the AI who seem to be of the horde nature. Which honestly wouldn't be too far off of what such groups would do in real life. Believe me, I don't enjoy the mist/fog on the field, but it's nothing new.
I agree with you on that. I actually enjoy looking at things up close, and enjoying the scenery. I feel like the maps look really well without the weather conditions, but that's just my opinion!
forts size should be proportional to the army size
They've shown the barbarian forts to be circular, variety looks great! Just wish they're weren't so many open routes, with there we're only 4 openings or have gates.
The Roman Castra is SO famous.. I wish they fleshed it out a little bit more.
Yeah, that's the kind of detail I was hoping for. Awesome thing is though that with the new MOD tools announced you can make your own custom battle tiles for use in the campaign. So someone could make this a reality : )
Dude dont get me excited. Lolol. If some one made a model for campaign castras, i will die. I love the campaigns! I dont play much mp.
any mods yet?
@@MJFAN666 bit of a late reaction but you can't change the fort in single player
I love the flame arrow animation
looks so cool
looks soo unrealistic, looks like they're shooting missiles lol
iEat Crayons What else would you call any thrown object?
Missile
noun
1.
an object or weapon for throwing, hurling, or shooting, as a stone, bullet, or arrow.
iEat Crayons You can turn it off in the options menu for a more realistic look, believe it or not. Don't try to find all the negatives in a game you may not like.
Ohno0es dang, well you got me there.
KarstenOkk yeah i knew that, i just said i didnt like the look of it with tracers enabled

something they should do is make the size of the fort vary based on the size of the army (cause a small army wouldn't have a huge fort)
It looks cool I cant wait till next Tuesday. I wish they would stop the general from suicide charging ppl though. They should try to program him so he joins the battle but is more support unless needed.
You know that you can burn down this fort with 4-5 shots from an onager? It's possible the AI does not know about that.
I wish the AI wouldn't always attack in the fog
Rwn should be a wha to make is less thick so you can actually see
I think the tents should fall when walked on but the outer wall should of course say together unless siege weaponry is used.

My visigoths game is circular. I really like the square tho
should link this one to the campaign video

Yea, just like in empire n Napoléon, can build forts everywhere thats what i mean

I would disband all that expensive infantry in favor of more pike militia
it isnt a fort its an encampment and also rome has a different style to barbarian ones

.... so the big deciding factor of buying the game or not is if the forts have gates?
Yes and I'll tell you why, CA likes to skip things recently and if they skipped the gates what else did they be lazy about ? How can u have a fortified stronghold with no gates!!?

Replace "o" with "a" for lots of fun.

The battle moves so fast! Arrows look pretty innefective to me too :(
nice general feed
Seriously, not even Emperor Edition R2 in multiplayer is that much of a clickfest for a 4 minute battle. Of course, we might simply just play differently, but I am still worried about the unit morale.
What is that thing where the huns army was before they attacked?
Seems that in every battle for Attila there's a bunch of fog everywhere.. What's up with that?
how did you deploy the stuff? when I drag the thing it doesn't deploy on the map
could you play this on custom battles
how do I build a fort?
Are Forts Permanent?
Anyone?
Huns? how the hell did you got them atack you in 396??? i i'm 400 and i have + relesion ship with them and i'm playing on hard what dificulty you are playing?
Does CA even give a shit about historical accuracy or even about common sense?
Can you explain what you mean? I think they did a pretty good job compared to Rome 2
ya .. what kind of fort that have open hole like in this one?
Why are the battles so misty ? looks terrible.
Because the weather condition. This has been in nearly all Total War games.
Phillip Potatoman
Rubbish, I've rarely seen it in Rome2, yet in Attila, it's all battles so far.
Because the AI would much rather attack in conditions that play in its favor. I've dealt with this playing each game all the way back to medieval 2. Phillip Potatoman Lets hope the AI doesn't decide to fight all battles @ night during a hail storm. This fog wouldn't be hiding poor LOD ?
I agree with you on that. I actually enjoy looking at things up close, and enjoying the scenery. I feel like the maps look really well without the weather conditions, but that's just my opinion!
