I LOVED MIDNIGHT MASS! It had that Salem's Lot feel to it, but more new and fresh (I loved that book too). This is a great influence for me as far as the kind of setting. I personally want to set our game (starting in January) in a setting like that, but somewhere in Colorado (since I live here). Manitou Springs came to mine first, but that's way too close to the big city of Colorado Springs, so I am looking at small, but somewhat hip, towns that have old abandoned gold mines, and surrounded by forests, and a bit of a tourist attraction (or something that keeps the town afloat financially, otherwise it would just be another abandoned town). I need to check out The Fall of the House of Usher (I just finished "The Terror" ) Thanks for these recommendations!
My favourite Mike Flanagan Media is The Haunting of Bly Manor. And I really like the idea of moving into a space and having to bear it's legacy and all the damnation hidden there. One families doing influencing decades after the fact is very Curseborne I think and a group of accursed having to deal with this entities and/or accursed that are reigning there is very interesting. I'm a fan of limited settings and a manor is perfect for that as well.
yah just watched his script he wrote years ago and was adapted for a segment of VHS Beyond called Stowaway, yah a woman trapped in a alien spacecraft but getting mutated more and more the longer she spends time in the spacecraft, could be adopted to Curseborne, l
Midnight Mass is the only Mike Flanagan show I've watched 😅 but definitely going to check out the rest of them I've been rewatching Dead like me I do feel some similarities to the dead lineage with the grim reapers from Dead like me also if you haven't watched midnight mass go watch it!
One Shots and Mini -Campaigns, .. from D&D/Star Wars to multiple setting themes in WoD. What to do, what to do, .. HeY ! shop owner and lead DM/story teller wants some ideals ! a.) Children of The Giovanna, it takes a Reverent/ghoul close to a hundred years to reach adult maturity and a few centuries to look/behave like a 30year old normal mortal. " my dear lord, he been acting like a Teenager for the past fifty years ! When will he grow up ?" Soo, .. I threw out an overarching story of a Giovanna grade school child that had enough of his family B.s. and decide to run away and live on the Italian streets and countryside. Some complain that is meta power gaming to get a bunch of skill dots. I threw out you follow one lead character growing up through both World Wars and everyone can n/PC everyone he runs into. So, no one will feel like they are stuck in one character archetype for too long. That killed a few months to have excuses to run mortal PC during the World Wars, or play a Catholic choir altar boy who's local priest is a lay hedge magician made the mistake of trying casting from a book/scroll to summon a demon. Well needless to say that went well, but at least the shot gun full of holy bless salts was a blast to witness. The T'zmisce bought some time for the rest of the party romancing the demon poses human host. But we had a set of Italian cities from the shop's encyclopedia book set to draw historic information from with some pictures for setting set piece. b.) Sabbat/ T'zmisce and werewolf Shadow Lords, in Romania having to deal with the fall of the Ottoman empire, both world wars, and the rise and fall of the USSR. Run PC as werewolf kind folk that can't change form, have use of 3rd rank gifts/spirit powers with anger issues. Playing politics & kissing ass to USSR political officers. Then you have those dammed Ru$$ians & Turk$. c.) Other than picking one of the many Lovecraft east coast cities. We just go with DC/Gotham city or NYC .. it is just wrong or funny on how a Sabbat cleaning team takes out the TMNT or Spiderman. Or the Sabbat team took out by a sentinel hunting mutants. Arkham asylum set on Arkham island borrow of Gotham City island cluster. d.) Changeling the Lost, your PC made it back through the Hedge and seek to return to their former life but there is a Fetch/double impersonating who they once were. Many changelings in anger will murder their impostor fetch to try to reclaim what they lost. i.) The PC wanting to get back to his pregnant girlfriend but there is another guy. But this fetch guy is working four part time jobs raising his child, and took four other children and teenager off the street. It is sleeping with your girl, but he is working himself into an early grave looking after what is your. What to do, what to do. e.) English coastal town part of the bronze age, built over as a Roman imperial outpost, built over as a medieval town, half built over after WW II air raids on England. Any party exploring the ancient copper mines end up in a TPK due to the Lovecraft monsters sleeping within. f.) Default, watch the movie " Dark City." Mind flayers vat growing population control spaceship colony city trying to create the best food/host.

I think Midnight Mass is the best Salem's Lot adaptation without actually being an adaptation of Salem's Lot.
