    What I love about this video in particular is the two second shot of your vehicle in what looks to be your neighborhood. Clearly several homes in the area. It shows that you can live in the city and the wilderness doesn’t have to be in your backyard to enjoy a little getaway. With a little planning and some travel you too can have a fun adventure for a day or weeks at a time to get away from the madness of society. Thank you for that.

    This is the first ever camping video of yours that I watched. And now, after finishing all your videos, I'm watching this one for the second time. It is an absolute pleasure watching you do your thing man! I just love the way you appreciate your camping experience, the way you make and enjoy your food, and the way you make people smile with your goofy humour. So enjoying your channel, Xander - when I was a kid, my family used to drive up from Virginia, and later South Carolina to the Grassy River-Mond Lake Lowlands and Ferris Lake Uplands Provincial Park in Ontario to camp for a couple of weeks in the summer. Those were the absolute BEST childhood memories - the long drive up was an adventure itself, driving all through the night. It was Dad, Mom, my two sisters and I, and our dog, Lady - packed up in the 1970 Ford Station Wagon with two canoes strapped on top, Army issue duffle bags and coolers stuffed with food, gear, clothes etc. We’d drive in as far as we could, then tie the two canoes together like a catamaran, one canoe was a square back, and had a 5HP outboard. We also just paddled a lot, of course. We’d load up all of us, and our stuff, launch the canoes, and motor off into the wilds, normally not seeing another human for the next two weeks. We’d fish for Northern Pike, Walleyes, and the occasional Perch. We could only haul in so much food, so we ate a lot of Pike! It was like the Monty Python Sketch: “What’s for afters? Wellll….. there’s pike pudding, pike pie, pike cake, or strawberry tart. Strawberry tart?!! Welll…, it’s got some pike in it. How much? Three - rather a lot, really. Well, I’ll have a slice without so much pike in it. 😆😂😆 We’d pick blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries in season, too. I remember being sung to sleep by the Northern Loons, and the White Throated Sparrows - seeing Bear, Moose, Beaver, Kingfishers, making little birchbark canoes to play with in the water - swimming and snorkeling (in 7mm wetsuits!) Dad and I both caught 32”+ Pike - 11+ pounders over the years, but the best eating were the smaller ones. Sometimes, we’d road trip to a tiny little town, like Gowganda at some point for supplies, but generally not. That was cheating! We camped on the Grassy Lake, and the Upper Grassy River. Great campfires, Dad would build these cool little docks of Aspen and Birch we’d dive off of, and these huge, long swings that would swing us way out over the water! Sometimes we’d take a long canoe ride, portage over a couple of Beaver dams, and go all the way to Ferris Lake for a day or so. I remember harvesting these big brown freshwater clams there, and frying them in butter -mmmm. Anyway, such wonderful memories- this was mid-late 70’s and I was 8-11 years old at the time. I have always wanted to return - and one day, I will. You inspire me. Keep doing what you’re doing!

I use to go caving where we would be underground for 6-12 hours at a time. Ive camped twice in a cave and its an experience like no other. With good lights and a couple Canadian cavers it would definitely change up the routine.
    It made me see camping from a different perspective with no sunlight, wood, or shelter.

    Army vet here. Put your heaviest items in your pack on the top. Lightest on bottom (sleep system). Your heavy items will drag your momentum back, strain shoulders as you move with it. Having heavier items on top pushes you forward, less strain on your back.

    • @TurtleSodadrives
      @TurtleSodadrives 6 місяців тому +3

      Heavy on top means you have more strain on every part of your body as you are more susceptible to being thrown of balance and or falling over in my opinion. Especially dangerous strategy when traveling alone over slippery surfaces.

      We had twins. Took it all the way to Jerry Springer but unfortunately it turned out that I am, in fact, the father. This comment is how I originally found out that she was pregnant. We used to love watching Xander together. In fact, Xander, will you be the godfather to our children. They're named Alexander and Exandria.

    Just sitting down to eat some pizza after a 5 day 4 night family car camping trip. We had the lowest temp of 29 degrees Fahrenheit and the warmest of 63 degrees (-1.6/17.2 deg. Celsius). Everything from clear blue skies to sleet to thunderstorms. Lots of good food. This video was the perfect way to end my day after our family's first camp trip of 2022.

    Awesome video, it’s funny how you say no one can judge, when I eat in my videos I always get comments from older fellas saying don’t eat on video or don’t talk while eating so I do it more to piss them off lmfao. I also get what your saying about routine. If you ever wanna come my way Catskill’s or ADK and do some hot tent ice fishing trapping or hunting with cooking let me know I break routine constantly
