- 2 nighter in some inclement weather here in early spring. Cooked some delicious food and spotted some wildlife. Likely an Otter not a fisher

The work you are putting in walking back and getting the camera for those long distance shots is not going unnoticed king.
So I decided to make this video longer than I normally would! I felt the vibe of the trip permitted the added length in the video. Hope ya'll enjoy
I definitely will love the longer videos 👍
Didn't realize that until i read this tho😂, just immediately click on your vids and enjoy it🔥
Definitely love the longer video, every time I watch your videos I always wish they were longer!
Longer=better
Great video man
When my anxiety gets quite bad and I struggle to sleep I always watch your videos, it works every time. Thank you for the amazing videos
Xander, thank you for being vulnerable and honest in your videos. You discussing your past struggles makes it easier for other to discuss their current problems. I love your videos, even the long ones. Keep them coming!
Everything you post is top class mate. Love the longer one's. You deserve all the success you get.
Hi 🤜🏻

Sometimes I forget that after you get the shot of you walking off you have to come back for the camera.
Xander puts more work into camp meals than I put into at home meals.. props to him! Always a killer video
This is such a wonderful channel. I used to be so closely in touch with nature, but unfortunately I was diagnosed with a variety of diseases that need constant monitoring, so I can never stray too far from my house nowadays. Rediscovering the beauty of the outside world through this channel has been super emotional, and I can't thank Xander enough. Breathtaking views, stunning editing, dedication to the work, this is perfection.
What about backyard camping ? I mean might not be the same but it’s a cute fun idea with fam and friends if you can’t get all the way away from home. Idk your comment just made me think of childhood backyard camping
Sometimes during the down time between videos, I'll think about "I wonder if Xander is out there right now.. in this moment, experiencing the wild and doing what saved him".. and I'm just sitting here thinking about what he's doing, rather than going out there and experiencing myself. These survival videos, and a lot of the content you upload out in nature, are incredibly inspiring. I hope you know that, Mr. Xander
Get out there! You'll be surprised how much you actually see and experience even in just a simple day hike. 🌄
You don't get out much do you?
@@bcsurvivor4713 No, that's my point.
Doesn’t sound very inspiring if you’re just sitting inside thinking about what someone else is doing. Inspiration is more than a feeling. It compels you to act.
Trust me man, get out there because it's the best thing ever. I always try to get out as much as possible and when i'm not and i got free time, i binge Xander's adventures.
I can absolutely watch your vids all the way through without getting bored.
Same, normally I'd pass on a 44 minute video, but from Xander, it's a bonus treat.
Huge respect to film all of this. All those shots of you walking of in the distance. knowing you have to walk back to get your camera. Huge respect.
It’s crazy to think that everything you do when you walk through the woods that you have to do it at least 2-3 times to setup camera shots. It’s truly a great job, endless stamina you have
I think he said he has a camera crew but idk
@@echooo123 He didn’t say that. It’s just him, a tripod, and maybe a drone when the video title says solo. When it doesn’t, we can clearly see his friends or family in the video.
@@r3minder310 incorrect he has a filmer with him on every trip. He has said it before, his "solo" trips aren't really solo, Gustavo is with him on every single trip.
He uploaded an entire video on it, the title is "It's time to come clean about "solo" camping."
That's the only time he's shown Gustavo but he's always there. I expect a legit response from you here in this thread after you watch the video, because 5 mislead people even liked your comment. SMH
@@kidfrankie54holy, i gotta watch that video. I cant believe it
@@kidfrankie54okay nice one dude
Hey Xander, just wanted to let you know that I greatly appreciate your videos.
I broke my leg backpacking back in October of last year, with that and all the normal struggles of life I haven't been able to go hiking again (yet), but you make giddy with anticipation for my next trip, in the meantime I appreciate being able to live vicariously through you.
Thanks again.
Heal Up brother!
I enjoy the longer format! You still edited it down nicely, and didn't include a bunch of unnecessary fluff, so nothing feels diluted.
That weather must have been really challenging. Seems cold and wet. It's fortunate there are so many old birches and other hardwoods in your area; where I am located in Newfoundland even the standing dead woods is often really wet inside.
38:30 "Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery, today is a gift, that's why it's called the present". I absolutely love that quote. Great video Xander. I am looking forward to seeing many more from you.
That’s from master oogway in Kung-Fu Panda
As a avid camper/hiker I can honestly say your videos are some of the best I have found. Thanks and keep them coming.
If anyone with addiction problems is watching this it is important to remember that you can escape it. It is not easy and early on it sucks so much because you think nothing else can make you feel good. Its a long road but you can do it. Xander has done it. I have done it. Just go one day at a time and take it slowly. Good luck. Great vid as always dude. Keep fighting the good fight.
👍
I got a hangover now
@@yaboijack67 Nothing wrong with that. Hope you had a good night.
Its pretty damn hard if you're talking opioids or benzos. Those are the ones you need to absolutely stay away from alcohol is really bad too. People don't realize how much they are going to suffer for months when they stop taking these drugs like you won't be able to sleep a single second for prob 2-3 weeks. Stay far far away from any benzo or opioid painkiller. Just hope someone reads this so I can save them the pain.
Oh man fresh tracks and then BOOM...that somehow never seems to happen so I found that extra exciting. 45 mins...you spoil us :D
Pretty wild - and I even had the camera rolling - but I was a dumb dumb and watched the moose run by with my eyes as opposed to making sure I captured the shot through the camera and only shot its feet..
@@XanderBudnickdon’t be to hard on yourself.
You are living the dream!
Keep up the insanely cool work brother.
Great work on this videos, Xander. These winter videos feed my inner outdoorsman. Also with the complexity of city life, somehow this videos remind me that we really just need the bare essentials to enjoy life because nature has already provided a lot to appreciate and marvel on.
Absolutely love your videos Xander! They bring me so much peace, laughter, wonder and very itchy feet
never stop doing what you do, the joy of seeing your videos pop up on my recommended is indescribable.
Years ago when I was appointed chef while on canoe trips, I could not even hope to approach the quality and artistic creativeness of what you produce. My recipes consisted of what cans were left and what had not been combined with what. You sir, are a culinary genius.
Really enjoyed the longer video Xander, great looking food, the old cabin, the critter on the lake and a moosey bonus!! Thanks for taking us with you mate 👍
Paul, northern England.
Another thing I love about Xander is his unbreakable dedication to his work. He goes out and somehow keeps a smile no matter the weather. Truly admirable aside from how his hands never seem to get cold/burnt (how???). Thanks for the video! Keep going strong and staying sober! Never have I ever been disappointed by a video posted here and I doubt I ever will, I really appreciate the time you spend finding and sharing the most interesting little things you encounter on your adventures (that bark and fisher was really cool), it really makes my day.
Cheers!
Xander you make me so happy and grateful for the simple things in life and truly are someone I will always look up too. After some stressful times in life watching your videos really make me happy and seeing you having a blast puts the biggest smile on my face. Keep up the awesome work man, much love from Australia!❤ you're so loved❤💪
Thanks man I appreciate that :D
Yes so wish I could do this your way to go is great to break from the mad world and watch thank you
Sometimes I feel like this is just a cooking show with a camping twist. I could not ask for anything more perfect.
Great video. BTW the animal on the ice is most likely an otter as fishers very rarely swim. I love to see the otter slides in the snow on our farm as they head down a hill into the stream.
13:00 just looks so damn peaceful. I will say the one thing I liked about being in the Marine Corps some times would be training in the field. When you had the opportunity to take a break from training it was relaxing being in the hills, desert, jungles all that good stuff. Now that I’m out and can afford some better gear I definitely want to go back out for the fun of it instead of training my ass off in the crappy weather.😂
Man I wish I could sleep in the open like that comfortably but here in Australia there’s just to many creepy crawlies to do that haha. Love the longer video Xander!
I feel yah
@scottygonewalkabout does it!
@@JuanGarcia-if7np thats true, definitely have to choose your surroundings wisely. On a beach I do. But in the bush thats a pass
Xander, I really love your content. I have been unable to backpack lately, and your videos always help to motivate me and inspire me. The way you capture the quiet nature and rare views into wildlife remind me of the mountains near where I live. When you talk about your personal experiences with addiction, I can't help but feel emotional. I struggle with addiction and the "overtaking" of life - my brain knows not of moderation. Seeing you doing well, enjoying nature and gaining real happiness from sobriety is inspiring and gives me hope for the future. Thank you for sharing such real and beautiful videos.
Xander, you are quite the camping chef. I enjoy watching you!
Great video, Xander! Coolest wildlife sightings - still can’t believe how close you were. Amazing. And the food looked delicious. Absolute banger. Thanks for sharing!
So happy it's a longer one! Even happier I found your channel Xander. Already watched all your videos lol. You make this look so easy, a real testament to your talent in the outdoors. Can't wait to see what the future holds for you and your channel! -Kyle
I would be so miserable doing any of this myself, but it’s an absolute joy to watch.
This one really reminded me of my youth when my friends and I would trek out into the wilderness and set up a small day camp. Putting up the shelter....getting a fire going. Simple but fun times.
I’ve never seen or been in snow for the whole 23 years of my life. It looks so refreshing and peaceful
It is, but it does get old after awhile. Months of cold and snow can really be too much to handle, lol.
Wow! This is your best video yet! I don’t know, something about it just made it stand out. The sound was excellent. I like how you realistically portray everything like hauling wood makes you tired and you don’t always get the fire started the first time you try. And you talk just the right amount not too much and not too little. You are my favorite channel!
You are very fortunate to have Gustavo as your cameraman. Can you imagine coming back for the camera so long distances, furthermore in the snow? 😀
I have been watching your videos for a while. I am convinced that you perhaps are the most hard working guy on UA-cam. I am most impressed with your commitment to sobriety. I have struggled with with many addictions in my 61 years. I was told once that until your find something that you love as much as getting high, you will struggle. I suspect that you have discovered that in the outdoors.Keep up the good work.Like many I am proud of your walk.
Brilliant man.. the solos are ur bread and butter. Great content as always. X
This video is the perfect way to end my day before I head to bed, loving the long videos
Xander, you take us on an adventure and then make us hungry, even after we've had supper. Yourr being thankful to God, His creation, family and life lifts me up and reminds me of all the blessings I have and do not deserve. Thank you!
Why does watching Xander eat bring such happiness to my life?😁 As well as the outloud laughing when he took that big ole bite of asparagus 🤣 As my wife looks at me funny😳
My guy casually taking selfies with a tree bark... love it!😉
Xander, as always, thanks for taking us along with you on your adventures! The sound of the fire with the great backdrops are always enjoyable.
Nothing like a Xander Budnick video to instantly improve my day
I used to love watching survival/camping without any talk in it but your personality is great, absolutely enjoy watching you on these trips.
Thanks!!!
"I like it, Picasso."
I love your videos man. Just discovered them earlier this evening and have been binging so many of them on 1.5 speed. Love!
Just traveled across the world and jet lagging so watching Xander doing these camping just calms my whole body down. Thank you 🙏
What makes this the shot at 28:56 all the more impressive is knowing that you had to trudge all the way back down the hill to get the camera.
Your videos inspired me to take a trip this past week. I’m normally not a big winter camper because of the weather we’ve got here in Minnesota, but I had lots of fun! Thanks for your reminders camping can be fun year round. Keep up the great content!
I can feel that you’re doing what you love to do and that’s just priceless, keep going !
Thank you! Will do!
Well done Xander!!! Two moose !!! I know how exciting that is. I just ran into 3 moose last week snowshoeing and did not have GoPro on so lost out. I can tell you that was a river otter on the lake. I have seen many. Check out Adam Stew’s most recent video where he also saw an otter....he says they are catching minnows. Love the great food you cook up. That’s not burnt sweet potato...it’s “blackened”.....fine dining
I love the solo camping videos 🥳
I can't watch the videos where your hunting, but everything else is spectacular. Loved this one.
My dad was quite an outdoorsman, but once when he was felling a tree, it fell on him. He laid there for 3 hours before he was found. He had broken his right arm and leg. And several ribs. He survived but he was very careful about cutting down trees after that. Stay safe and God bless.
Id love to see a behind the scenes of you prepping your meals, deciding what you want to make etc. Im always wowed by what you make!! seriously impressive
The Beginning shots of the streams flowing under/between the ice is so fricking cool! It’s like the veins of the earth. Also thank you for the longer video I really enjoyed it
Xander you rock man . You are truly an inspiration to me and many many others . Keep that clean life alive . its a blessing . Keep coming back . hugs
Thank you Xander. I so very much enjoy your videos; and gain rest watching the wonderful places and weather that you visit.
Very inspiring Xander. Picking up some great ideas here as well as getting motivated to do some of the things I've wanted to do for a long time. I know I will be better prepared after watching your adventures. Kudos to you for getting out there and showing us how it's done. Thank you.
I can assure you that we did enjoy this ''long'' video Xander.. It's strange how time can be so different.. I was studying for my upcoming exam right before I got a notification that regarded you publishing a new video. And the second I clicked into your video time just flew man... Going from boring exam preparation where time seems to stay still and not rewarding, to your videos where 45 minutes feels like 4 minutes and 34 seconds because I'm as a viewer is so committed in this exact moment because of pure joy and delight... An amazing impact you fill in many of your viewers! Thank you! see you in the next one!!
Sincerely
Peder from Denmark
Good to know - good luck on your exams
Absolutely gorgeous video!! Thank you for taking us along on your adventures!
Man, you are made out of something very special, been out there, cooking, hiking, enjoying nature, thank you for the way you make your video, make me feel I'm there (minus the freezing temperatures LOL) Good for you, keep enjoying the good life free or alcohol and smokes, full of health and mental peace.
Always a treat, Xander. Thanks for making these videos.
Xander, Absolutely love your channel! Very relaxing to watch and the scenery is drop dead gorgeous! One of the things you have inspired me on is learning to tie knots! I’ve always been amazed at people who could do that and now I’m going to learn how to do it! Keep up the great content! Thanks!
I really appreciate the longer videos, this was a good watch.
Xander, the most hardest working campers out there!
The way you record makes it feel like I'm there with you. I really wish I were honestly, it would be so cool to hang out with you and camp in the beautiful wilderness ✌🏕
Hello Xander.
I started watching your shows about 1 month ago. Love them all so far!!!
Just watched your show from December 4, 2021, winter camping and building bushcraft shelter in the snow and rain.
I want to congratulate you on your accomplishment. Fresh start and I'm happy you could over come your demons!!!
Very brave and Awesome you shared it with the world!!!!
Keep on Kicking Butt
I will follow you as long as I can and as long as you make videos.
Your friend from Santa Fe, New Mexico USA!!!
Stay strong and positive!!! 🙏🦾🙋♂️🌠🌌🏕🏞
This is so beautiful and peaceful... I like that is all natural sounds and not music or fake back ground noise... well done...
🇨🇦💯🇺🇲
21:34 // 42:51 so cozy u always find the best spots and show them well. + your cooking and meals always bomb
Love the longer videos Xander. Gives you more time to immerse yourself in the trip. Hi from Australia!
Thanks for taking us on this adventure with you! I find the sense of nature’s awakening in the arrival of spring to be full of expectant hope. I’m the guy that keeps suggesting that you write some of your more reflective experiences and insights. Nature as a source of personal expansiveness and healing, for example.
I’ve always enjoyed when you have read what you have written down in your journal. Great video!
Great wintery movie. Watched this after your summer solo camping vid and what a contrast. Polar opposites but the mood was chill on both
Hello Xander!
I started watching your videos a few weeks back, then the moment I subscribed to your account, can't stop watching your vids from then on. I'm from the Philippines and as you know we are a tropical country, atleast by watching your videos, specially the one's that you camp on extreme cold locations, gives me some sort of real life experience with the snow. Please cont. on making videos, because not only its satisfying to watch, but also gives me peace of mind. 😊 All the best and always take care.
It was awesome Xander. I loved every minute of it. It’s funny I enjoy them so much that it makes me sad at the ending. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these. I know it’s a lot of work and I appreciate you so much for doing this. You rock my world mate !!
Glad you enjoyed:)
Thanks for sharing. This is the best outdoor channel on UA-cam in my opinion.
Your videos are probably my number one way to destress from everything. I love the videos. Keep it up.
Nice work Xander! The camp is laid and a nice warming fire! All is well!
Another great vid , well done. Personally i prefer the longer videos and this one was perfect. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us 👍🏻
i've been struggling with a lot in my life and you are someone ive found myself watching a decent amount, your talk about being better off without drugs is something i figured out the hard way. keep up the good work and thanks for the content
Massive fan of longer videos 👍🏻
You make all that hard work look easy but definitely worth it .
Great trip! thanks for sharing your aventure, so inspiring. Keep on your amazing job!
Xander, I really enjoy following you and watching your content. Your meals provide great ideas, and your camp setup also gives me ideas on options. Good stuff! Thanks for taking us along!
Another great video. Thank you Xander! Keep ‘EM coming!👍
Up until nearly midnight watching your videos, Xander. With work early tomorrow. But, it’s well worth it! Thanks again for some excellent content! Best to you! 😊
I love the longer videos!! Your food always looks amazing!

Your videos are soo relaxing. I’m 30 yrs old and haven’t been camping can’t wait til I experience it
Love the longer videos Xander - keep up the great work!
Hey Xander great video! I also live in Ontario and it’s great to see the beauty of my own province! I just underwent reconstructive knee surgery and can’t wait to get back out camping. Your videos got me to start camping and I loved it! So thanks for introducing me to a new passion!
I really enjoyed this longer video, thanks Xander!
The vibes of this one are real bro! Thanks for all the hard work!!
Great content as always man. Love the vibes and perspectives. Keep it up bro.
Awesome, thanks for sharing your amazing experiences, food looks delicious 👌🔥
Thanks for bringing me along, Xander! Loved it!
Watching these videos have inspired me to get back to camping with my parents and has really helped me stay chill through some of lifes roughest moments
After the 4 second intro, I already expected to enjoy the rest of this video hahah
This guy is cooking better in the wild than I do at home
