I also added an external balance connector to my packs so I could monitor the state of the pack, and/or use a balance charger. Seems like we are both on the same page with the battery-building process!! I also got these little widgets that show the voltage of each cell, but they aren't very accurate. I just use my multimeter to check each cell voltage.
Got me thinking that many people just trash them thinking the whole pack is bad. On a upcoming video I remove a bad cell group and replace it. This is on my oldest battery. Its about 3.5 years old.
@Eric_Tennant, hi, I saw it in the description. Wow!! I've been looking for a balance charger that would do more than 6s and I was beginning to think they didn't exist. I just built a new pack for my bike (10s6p, 36Vx2). I learned a lot. I also installed a DALY BMS on my new pack. Something I learned right away was that the pack will never be fully charged unless the charging wire (which is normally connected through the bms negative) is connected directly to the pack negative, bypassing the BMS. The BMS has more than a volt and a half drop across it, preventing the charger from fully charging the pack, and the charger will never see the true voltage of the pack itself. The pack now charges fully to it's maximum charged state. The load (output) is still connected to the bms load wire, so output current is still limited by the bms at the rating of the bms current cuttoff, in this case 60 amps (my bike won't ever draw more than 40 amps at full throttle). Hey Glad you're still doin' videos, Erik!! We've chatted before, I'm from Alaska in case you might remember. I enjoyed your bike trip in Arizona a while back, glad you went back to an Ebike!! Keep up the good work!!
Did you managed to find the file to download on the site for me its seem a bit nurdy and not very obvious to find the download button neey 3.1 is the latest file which is old version
@@MichaelGreenLagos No I didn't use the old file, I've just resorted back to manual balancing with my lab power supply one cell at a time. They haven't updated the files for over 2 years.
My large battery has never full-charged, to the best of my knowledge. Been living with about 1/2 volt down from nominal since I *got* it, both for 90% charge (usual) and 100% charge.
Hi sir. Excuse me ... What does 'overflow' or ' overline' mean exactly?? Color becoms orange on the app , I think it stopped balancing . do I need to do something .? I am realy confused .. thanks
@@Eric_Tennant Yes yes got it ..thanks alot sir .. After hours of checking , I discovered that the first wire is connected untightly!!! So the first and second strings appeared overflow and not successed! Now it is balancing 🤗🤗✅ I thought it was a signal that this string has a high internal resistance and must replaced ( because the alarm said somthing about resistance ) .. may be it can check and give this alarm when anystring is being weak .. I am not sure .. we may get sure in the future .. Thanks alot for your reply sir 🌹🌹
Supposedly when using these BMS units, one wants to over-spec them a fair bit, as in the 30 amp ones should be seen as, “if you try to pull thirty amperes from one of these things, even for an instant, it will *Make like Josef Lučas and lose its magic-smoke!”* Note that this is about one step up from hearsay, but being stranded far from home does not sound like fun. When I build a pack from scratch in the future, I plan to use at least a 40 amp BMS for a 30 amp max Load, and that only if I cannot get a *60!*
BMS one thing I yet to overrate. Daly BMS go up to 500 amps. Now wires, motor, and inverters I love to overrate to prevent them from getting hot or having to much voltage loss.
@@Eric_Tennant that particular brand is (the main) one I’m currently looking at, yes. Still plan on over-rating it at least somewhat. Note that they supposedly have “smart” ones in certain current sizes. Am wondering about *those* some, too.
@@dennisyoung4631 The BT version do give you a good look into the battery but they are still passive balancing. Daly has an active balancer, but it weaker and cuts off balancing if there a low run away cell group.

Yea I remember. You started watching during my solar tour.
At 12:02 u can better get the negative of pack and then search with possitve probe a short is quick made on that connector right ?
Sir i need app which connected to this balancer sir

Get neey 4th generation to balance it out .
