- The case of Newton Alfred Winn who kidnapped Annie Hearin for a ransom payment. Unravel the mystery alongside the FBI's greatest law enforcers and forensic scientists.
#TheFBIFiles #TrueCrime #FullEpisode
Season 4 Episode 5: Annie Hearin's ransom kidnapping is profiled.
The FBI Files is an American docudrama that takes a look behind the scenes of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's crime laboratory.
Real FBI cases are recounted through reenactments and interviews, due to the sensitive nature of the show, viewer discretion is advised.
Winn was paroled in 2006 after serving 16 years of a 19-year sentence. He died in 2012. Annie Hearin's body/remains have still not been found.
Thanks for the info.

It’s sad that “spiritual advisor” didn’t say something before the kidnapping happened. It’s not normal to be recruited for revenge kidnappings, she could have said something to the cops about his kidnapping plans and possibly saved that lady’s life.

Absolutely, and finding a napkin disposed a year ago on a rural road happens all the time too. People should remember when watching the shows they are only getting one side of the story. The federal conviction rate in the US is not 99.8% for no reason. The FBI leans on people to get them to tell them what they need to hear. This was a circumstantial case and I was thinking Wynn could not have had a very good defense attorney to be convicted and receive the maximum penalty. I was seeing holes in the case all over the place. Then again, this is Mississippi we are talking about. The conviction rate is probably 100%. After all if you ever charged with a crime you must be guilty right? If you doubt the corruption of the FBI, look at what they have become now.

How do criminals get 'time off' for good behaviour, it's not as if they can do anything but behave and there should be the condition that they give up ALL information about the crime they have been found guilty of, ie in this case, telling them where the body can be found, if not stay in prison...

it took them SIX MONTHS to find the cabin he owned?
You’d be surprised how long it takes. This isn’t CSI! Cases move slower than molasses not at high speed for a 42 mins show. Imagine the time it takes to talk to a judge to get approved for warrants, manage the time for a team to show up, time to go over tons and tons of evidence. If you’re looking for more immediate findings watch the first 48 hours show. See how much they can find fast. It’s not easy. You think you have been Informed watching shows but that’s not real life.
What a shame the criminals have more rights than the victims!
19 years with no body is actually good
In Germany it is worse! They get treatments in prison, the victims have to wait YEARS for. No joke. They can study and do not have to pay for it whereas we have to pay for studying at University. We have to work for our food and houses and appartments. In this system are major mistakes.
on what basis are you making that claim? Anyone who is denied a fair trial also becomes a victim of the government overzealous prosecutions, and thousands have suffered false imprisonment and dozens have been executed (i.e. murdered) for crimes they did not commit. If you ever get accused of a crime, you will be thankful for the protections that are in place to ensure a fair trial
That the accused are protested and treated humanely in America can be frustrating at times. For reasons given here, but make no mistake. You don’t want the alternative, an authoritarian regime, who’s is the way we are heading due to short sighted people. Be careful what you wish for.

That was in the tv show, lady. In real life, law enforcement came with no "bells and whistles," and basically worked tirelessly for 18 months on this case. Why are people like you so cruel to folks who serve as first responders? And why do you believe everything you see on TV? Shame on you.

Most people I know have zero besides door locks in terms of security whether they are living in a million dollar house or 5 million dollar house.

The paralegal and Winn's ex girlfriend were equally responsible; but for the fact that they both kept quiet, the elderly kidnapped victim may have been found alive during the first week. The fact that she couldn't eat, due to her bowel problem, without her medication she would have died soon, if she hadn't been murdered on the first day of the kidnap; which is highly likely. In my personal opinion, both the paralegal and the ex girlfriend, by keeping quiet about what they knew, and in the latter's case, what she had been asked to do, and did, something that would have been clear to anyone with any intelligence was very suspect and cagey, is heinous. I do hope that they were charge with involvement after the fact, and got just punishment. I mean, how dumb must she be to not have taken the envelope straight to the police as soon as she was given it?
It really helps to have a security guard when you are a well known rich person in the town
Criminals go after even people with less money.
He went to some extraordinary lengths to sabotage the investigation, buying and also renting several similar vans, making sure his van was in the workshop at the time, having a similar, decoy typewriter, having the letter mailed from Atlanta on a day he could prove he wasn’t there, the maps in his car were probably either encrypted or decoys too, and giving his own name in the original ransom note along with the others, so that any circumstantial evidence would equally apply to them as much as himself… his only real mistakes was in having other people involved. The spiritual adviser, the paralegal and the ex girlfriend… 😐
Newton Alfred Winn served his sentence and was released, apparently with time off for good behavior, in April of 2006. Sadly, no trace of Annie Hearin has ever been found.

Yes, never open the door if you didn't invite anyone over.
In earlier times, 50 years ago and thereabouts, people would open their doors to random knocking or doorbell rings.
In today's world, we should not do that. There is actually less crime today, but society has changed. Anyone approaching you, odds are they're after something that is good for them but possibly bad for you.
I’ve lived 39 years and have had no random crime happen to me. I think the odds are pretty low and I wouldn’t freak out and shut my self in out of fear something might happen. I mean, take precautions but I imagine you’re living like someone actually cares about you enough to kill you.
Why don’t you get a heavy duty wire mesh door installed? Ie two front doors. That remains deadlocked while you talk through the wire door, and usually the visitor can’t see you through it. Much better than a chain I think…
