Hey, just watched the video. I am extremely interested in the map that you used at 8:26 that shows western Canada. Is there a source for that map? Where I can find it?
Holy cow!
Costa Rican here!
Although traffic lights “stop working” at 10pm, you still have to treat them as stop signs. So, if a cop spots you running a traffic light at 3am, you’re getting a ticket.
Most UA-cam channels like these spout bs, purely to get comments and views! 🤑👌🏻
Honestly, you should do a series where you state just 5 minutes of random facts about each country
5:20 Horses in the UK require passports for one reason - in case they end up in the food supply chain. The passport is actually a record of veterinary medicines administered, which means an abattoir can be sure that the animal is not in a withdrawal period meaning it can't be slaughtered for food.
There are more than 3 active volcanoes in Europe: Eyjafjallajökull, Iceland, recently erupted twice in March and April 2010; Santorini, Greece, the last eruption occurred in 1950, are also active volcanoes.
200 tons of milk each year? You mean 200 million tons right? 200 tons sounds awfully low haha
2000 tons is the production of one Dutch dairy farm...
So it has to be 200 million tons. www.atlasbig.com/nl/landen-door-melkproductie
Whoops lol
@@GeographyGeek also at 12:20 you said in 2019 1.2 million people died of snake bites but only 58,000 people die from snake bites a year? wouldnt It be a day or something like that
@@Selmarya nah he said between 2000 and 2019
@@GeographyGeek not too bad considering the amount of facts and stats produced in this very interesting video 😊
Costas Rica's traffic lights are set on a timer 24/7 instead of using the presence of an auto to activate a green light.
Some of those still exist in the US, which makes it aggravating to wait for a light to turn green at 4 am when there is no other visible car for miles
Thanks! Wish I had your channel when I was homeschooling my granddaughter. Wish I had majored in Geography instead of nursing. But that was over 50 years ago. And when I was in 6th grade I collected pamphlets from Indiana State Parks. As I slip into dementia, I spend more time in the past than the present…it was more fun. Blessings to you and yours
This comment really means a lot! Geography is a lot of fun. I do the same now with National Park pamphlets. I wish you the best.
You absolutley earned that right Sharon!
Bolivian here, and we all are legally permited to vote when turning 18, I have NEVER listened something like that about getting married?? like what?? Hahah
Mackinaw island is one of the coolest places you’ll ever visit! It’s like stepping back in time! Zero cars allowed and horses everywhere! So gorgeous.
Australia's Highway 1 is a network of highways that circumnavigate the country, joining all mainland capital cities except the national capital of Canberra. At a total length of approximately 14,500 km it is the longest national highway in the world, surpassing the Trans-Siberian Highway and the Trans-Canada Highway.
Iceland is part of Europe
Iceland has 32 active volcanic systems
Meant to say mainland
@@GeographyGeek Well, on that note, you counted Etna, which is on the island of Sicily.
Well, that’s not as bad as teaching your granddaughter that Van Gogh painted “The Scream” IMHO 😮
@@bradfilippone7064 Stromboli is most definitely an island as well.
Potatoes aren't the first plants grown in space. Chile is not the only country with a department dedicated to the study of UFOs.
In the uk we sometimes call speed bumps "sleeping policeman"
yess same in Serbia but more like "lying policeman" when translated
some additions to the alaska facts, from an alaskan:
-When William Seward made the purchase, that 7.2 million dollar price tag came down to just two cents per acre, an extremely low price for such a vast territory. Despite this, the public ridiculed Seward for buying Alaska, seeing it as a worthless frozen wasteland and nicknaming it "Seward's Folly." He would have the proverbial last laugh though, as the gold rush in the 1880s and the oil boom in the 1960s would prove that Alaska was a resource-rich land more than worth the price.
-Kobuk National Park, despite being the least-visited national park in the US, has one of Alaska's best kept secrets: sand dunes. That's right, there is a sand dune desert in Kobuk, even though it's above the Arctic Circle!
Nice vid!!👏
Request to add metric measurements in subscript.
Only USA, Libya and Myanmar still use imperial measurements.
1:40 hey, my country!, you are right about the tourism week but we don't really call christmas family day, we still say christmas xD
I love the idea of christmas being renamed family day.
Yes, not everyone is Christian but everyone gets the days off to be with family
Italy has 4 active volcanoes, you forgot the other volcano in the Eolian islands named "Volcano" which actually gave the name to volcanoes and as Mitch B said you forgot Iceland which has much more volcanoes
Meant to say mainland Europe.
@@GeographyGeek yeah i noticed it, cuz *sad icelandic, portuguese and spanish noises*
Even if you're talking about only mainland europe, there's 2 volcanic fields in Iberian Spain and 1 in germany
@@oliverlohrer3681 active?
The longest national highway is in Australia and it 14,500km long.
They allow you to run red lights at night because thieves sometimes approach cars at night while they are stopped.
College/university is NOT free in Germany -- granted, it's only like 300€ per term but still... Add to that the outrageous cost of books, horrendously high rent in most cities, the rising cost of living in general and students are actually quite boned in Germany (unless supported by their parents which a lot of us have to rely on). I'm not saying we have it worse than other countries. Just in case people heard the original statement and are now dallying with the idea of studying in Germany.
This video had some incredible and obscure facts in it as opposed to copy and pasting other videos. Keep it up!
The Simpsons was never on before 18h in Australia. Baywatch was 17h30 on Saturday
This is so nice! It gives good vibes, because the fist video I've seen on your channel was a facts video.
The fist video 😂😂 oooh sounds painful
I'm so zoned out watching these I don't even realize when the ad starts cus the transition is so seamless
The Netherlands also has 2 capitals. Amsterdam is the National Capitol housing the Royal Palace, Den Haag (the Hague) is the seat of Government.
9:49; 14:40 The smallest national park is Gateway Arch National Park! It was upgraded to national park status in 2018, thereby succeeding Hot Springs as the smallest national park.
Tulips are originally from Central Asia, most likely Kazakhstan.
your coffee fact is wrong. Kopi luwak is the most expensive, it is from Asia and is digested by the Palm Civet.
"What a treasure trove of knowledge! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this video packed with geography and culture facts. It's amazing how diverse and fascinating our world is, and you've done a fantastic job in capturing its essence. As a lifelong learner, I appreciate the effort you put into creating such informative and engaging content. I feel like I've traveled the globe in just 15 minutes! Keep up the excellent work of broadening our horizons and feeding our curiosity. Can't wait for more!"
I appreciate that!
Why are there quotation marks?
I believe that Gateway Arch NP (91 acres) is the smallest Nation Park in the United States.
The smallest national park is the Jefferson Memorial Gateway expansion arch in St. Louis.
I love this kind of info - the floating US ZIP code is on the JW Westcott on the Detroit River near where I live
0:10 in Rio de Janeiro too! But between 22h and 06h
"Bolivia has 2 capital cities"
*laughs in South African*
Australia’s Highway 1 is approximately 14,500 km (9,000 mi) It seems longer than Canada’s claim to the longest highway, or is there a technicality I’m missing?
That’s why l was reading the comments. The peripheral highway in Australia is longer than the merely transcontinental highway in Canada. I’m Canadian and hate it when Canada gets erroneous praise.
15 min of reddit tier geography facts
The afghan new year is called 'Nowruz', it is also in Iran. It probably started in Iran
I concur.
I thought the longest national highway would be the Australian highway 1, which does a giant loop around the country?
Pan-American Highway - Total length: 30,000 miles (48,000 km)
Highway 1, Australia - Total length: 9,009 miles (14,500 km)
@@FenrizNNN True, but it is an _inter_national highway, the statement at 1:20 said "longest _national_" highway so I don't think the Pan American qualifies.
Its crazy that both of the first 2 facts of the video about Costa Rica are also true in Puerto Rico, I always thought we were the only ones
I was about to comment the same thing!
The transitions are peak
Fun fact, potato is called a peruna in finnish.
Thanks for the shoutout! :]
Keep up the good work!
The "most expensive coffee" claim at 1:04 isn't even close to true. Kopi Luwak, made in Indonesia from beans that are eaten and then excreted by the Asian palm civet, starts at $100/lb and can go as high as $500/lb.
The difference is that the price of the coffee in the video was the price per cup, not the price per pound. A pound makes about 30 cups. It looks like the two coffees run pretty close in price.
I'm sticking with Maxwell House!
Please make a geography video about paraguay!! i know its not thai tnteresting but the "chaco" region is a amazing place!
Great video!
That was an interesting video. As my wife would say a mountain of useless trivia.😀. I lived in Japan and was amazed at the number of vending machines there as well as the different products that you could get from these machines. We bought our eggs from a vending machine and it was not unusual to see one sitting out on the side of the road all by itself. Probably the most amazing thing is none of these machines were vandalized
Japan seems like a paradise for introverts like me. 🙂
The amount and variety of vending machines is mind blowing!! You can buy beer in some lol. I saw a vending room that sold vegetables that were more like those little lockers you used to see at airports
Knowledge is not useless you might need some of this one day for what I'm not sure 😂😂 but you might!!!
Great info about the countries around the world 🌎 thanks 🙏
In Poland 10ish pm to 5ish am only yellow light is blinking and a speed bump is called a drunken policeman 😜
:italy has all Active volcanos in europe. :iceland: ami i a Jocke to you?!
How is Iceland Europe?
Great video. I enjoy learning these short snips. I've traveled 25 countries throughout my 29yr USAF career: Okinawa, Turkey x4, Dijibouti 3x, Egypt, S.Korea, and more. Thank you for sharing.
Part 2 tomorrow ? Please and thank you.
My favorite videos you make!
Outstanding presentation.
1:15 The longest National Highway in the world is Highway 1 Australia at 14,500 km.
I had that prisoner bike to energy idea when I was a kid. Very cool to see it’s been done somewhere, seems obvious to me.
Have you seen the Black Mirror episode 15 Million Merits?
Another great factual video!
Iceland have active volcanoes.
Simpsons replaced by bay watch 😂
Nice collection of 'quirky' facts!
Thanks for sparing the EU! 🤪
"Let's jump right in" are my favorite words.
wearing clogs is great on vacation because you can easily take them on and off when you go in the house or tent and they dont get wet from rain and mud
Thumbs up. This was a very good video
Gateway arch NP is the smallest, hot springs is second
Me sitting here as a fan of history, geography, and different cultures but only thinking about Poop Coffee from Peru
Loved the video. Random facts are so intriguing
I want to go see those caves now!
Working an exercise bike for time off your sentence sounds like some Black mirror shit
appreciate the art advertisement, but the common man should be hedging with physical gold and silver.
Rio de Janeiro has a rain forest right in its heart: Floresta da Tijuca.
At 0:14 ...In Panama, Speed bumps are called "Policias Muertos"...Dead Policeman...
Love this so much. I love the fact about Amerigo Vespucci actually realising America was NOT the East Indies (as Columbus did), hence why the US is named after the Italian explorer, Amerigo (America).
There is a factual error at 5:38 in your video.
Beerenberg ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beerenberg ) is an active volcano, and it is without question located in Europe.
Was meant to say mainland Europe.
@@GeographyGeek then is it not only vesuvius? The rest are on islands also
Iceland has active volcanoes too and arguably Santorini in Greece is active.
There are plenty of horses in the UK without passports. 😂
Thanks bro
Roman Emperors often adopted men for the same reason that the Japanese did. They needed to control who replaced them.
1:03 that is the most expensive coffee in the world?
Are you sure about that?
I thought it was Kopi Luwak from Indonesia
That prison fact make me think Germans even treat you right after trying to escape, never thought someone would think been free is a human instinct, but it’s true!
COP- "Sir you ran over a person"
Person- thought it was a "muerto"
The idea Simpsons gets removed off television because its not suitable for children to only get replaced by Baywatch says so much about a culture lol
The Trans Canada Highway is nowhere near the longest national highway. Australia's Highway 1 is close to twice as long. The Trans Siberian Highway is also longer than Canada's
1:18 as an Aussie I’m disappointed. Our highway number one is the longest national highway in the world - 14,500km
Mate try Highway 1 in Australia. 14,500km
As a Maltese person I can confirm to you that all the government funding goes to making university free and not really having good quality education
7.22 Wellington NZ is the southernmost NATIONAL capital in the world. Hobart is the southernmost capital in the world, being capital of the Australian state of Tasmania.
I love the Bike to create electricity in Brazil! Exercise has been proven to produce mood-elevating hormones, endorphins. Mood-elevating leads t0o less depression. Many alcohol/drug related offenses stem from depressive lifestyles.
7:12 the same applies in Mexico
That's a broad blanket statement and not fully true.
In Brazil always the people run a red light at night. Cause (un)security problems.
Cool video
Anyone else think of that one black mirror episode when he said Brazilian prisoners can bike to create energy and shorten their sentences?? At 2:00
U forgot to mention that the longest highway in the world is also the only eoad that connects all of the Canadian provinces together. A few yrs back a bridge in Ontario collapsed n until it was fixed the only way to get from 1 half of the country to the other was to detour thru the USA. But thx, i would've assumed Russia had some transcontinental highway too n didn't realize we had the longest.
"Chile has the lowest divorce rates." Does believing in aliens strength the bonds of marriage "Divorce was only made legal in 2005." Oh that explains it but also means they probably aren't counting countries where it is still illegal.
Largest KNOWN cave system in the world. We defs haven't found every single cave n even ones we have found could have vast areas beyond the tiny choke points where our explorations end
College is actually not entirely free in germany you have to pay a relativily small fee which each university decides themselves but they are not higher than 500€ per semester
Simpsons is unsuitable for children but Baywatch is? LOL
What's wrong with Baywatch ? Not like kids can't see titties on the beach in real life 🤦🏼
This was a great sixth grade project
I’m 1689 Friesland gave female landowners the ability to vote in local elections
I didn't know Suckers was the constitutional capital of Bolivia.
