@@marlowstanfield6815Let's look at it like this: If Beyonce did more shows than a KeKe Wyatt tour, it's because Wyatt has less of an audience to buy tickets. But I'm sure if Wyatt could sell out and do as many shows, then she would. In cases like these, entertainers do not leave money on the table. They schedule shows based on the possible volume of ticket sales meaning you don't schedule shows that you can't sell.

They really shouldn’t be compared but both are icons. TS is an all-time great, her impact is legendary. Beyoncé is 20+ years in the game though, no drop off. Made music through different eras and still relevant in her 40s. Her last decade of albums since the surprise Beyoncé drop has been incredible and changed music and culture. The thought and work she puts into her shows and music is next level.

I'm a 60 year old black man. I work at a major university. When Taylor Swift came to town. You could feel the energy change. Hundreds of young women and girls. Dressed like her. Walking around singing her songs. It was insane. Shannon Sharpe might be right. If you want to look at the impact of her market. Think of the numbers impact that Eminem had. As opposed to ANY other rappers before him.

She's not even the bes songwriter of her generation. Lana Del Rey is, and her music has had more of an impact on music culture. T''s music is generic and safe, so it's automatically more marketable but hasn't shifted music in any way, it's not as culturally impactful, it just sells more (mostly do to many variants). I'll give her this; she's a better businesswoman than Beyonce. She's calculated, capitalistic and feeds off her fanbase's toxic tendencies. That and her music being more marketable is why she is currently more commercially successful, but she will never be as respected by her peers as Beyonce or seen has a musical legend in the same way as her own inspirations, like Joni Mitchell.

To keep it accurate, the conversation started because Unc was talking about the NUMBERS when it comes to the NFL (regarding Taylor) and saying no one has moved the needle like her. Ocho brought Beyonce into it as a counter argument. The internet has evolved the convo into talent, who’s better, etc. That’s not what Shannon was saying.
They changed the specific point Shannon was making. He wasn’t talking about who is better who is more impactful to the black community. His point was “who moves the needle” TS added $350ms to the NFL’s bottom line by being on the screen for 30 seconds per game. Woman and mostly white girls who love her started watching football b/c of TS. THIS IS NOT TO SAY THAT BEY can’t move the needle just not as much as TS. That’s his only point. I think to speak about global impact, a few questions must be raised. What are both Beyonce's and Taylor's ticket sales outside of North America? How many tours have both done outside of North America? How did they do? What are the per show number ( accounting for inflation)?

Numbers aren't just numbers. I think everyone would agree that Michael Jackson is by far the biggest pop icon ever by a wide margin. In 1989 at his height, Pink Floyd grossed more touring than him. Tours, record sales, etc don't account for a large sector of the global population. To put it plainly if you do a Wikipedia search of the biggest tours ever you will notice that all of them are white which only means that white people have more privilege and resources to travel and go to concerts than others. Well… Taylor Swift is outselling everyone alive and is on the Biggest Tour of All Time so it makes sense that comparisons would be made. There's no comparison. Taylor has been writing and performing her own music since she was a teenager, plus she plays instruments. Beyonce sings and dances, with no writing or choreography input.
I’m a fan of Taylor Swift and her impact is massive and she makes great music, but Beyoncé has been around since 1997, was part of one of the best selling groups of all time that has a classic album on top of her own massive solo career.
You’re only right on the writing, though Beyoncé’s done some writing. But she runs everything else in her career because she’s been trained since she was a child. Taylor’s parents up and moved to Nashville so she could be in that environment and become a great country writer. Choreography? Beyoncé runs that and is the best performer since a Michael Jackson. She also doesn’t need coaching with producers or to really be “produced” by their own admission.
Beyonce has a different impact on the culture and definitely her community. The guys are completely right.

Beyonce is my all-time favorite female artist. The voice, the looks, the dance moves, the stage presence, the raw talent...she is out of this world. But even with that being said, Unc is right. This isn't about talent, it's about the draw. If you pull up the numbers, Taylor Swift's ticket sales and box office numbers are insane. Her reach is so broad, I'm sure she can flip a few red states into blue states. She probably has a broader appeal because she does pop music, thats her lane.
That being said, I'd still go and watch Queen Bey any day.

No. Look, NOTHING stopped Beyonce from doing just as many shows as TS. (Get your money!) Also, the question wasn't WHO DO YOU LIKE more, the question was who moves the needle more, and that is TS, and this is because she has a broader market reach. Beyonce is beloved amongst the Culture, but she ain't hitting like that in Russia or Asia. However, TS has deep reach in these places, and in places that Beyonce does not. This is a fact and can't nobody dispute that. You can even see this on a micro-level where just by dating Travis Kelce his jersey sales increased by 400% and put him in the Top 5. Beyonce has impact, but does not have that kind of impact, although I'd rather listen to her. Her vocal agility and breath control and her dynamics are insane. She uses western and the exotic music scale and her physical ability is nuts. And that’s while and after several miscarriages and three children. She also was the first woman and black woman to achieve a lot unlike Taylor. Taylor doesn’t break doors down like Beyoncé did.
