    Having Jason Alexander in his "Terrible George singing voice" record your voicemail message for you is like a bigger honor than winning a gold medal at the Olympics or winning the lottery... Ironically for that voicemail scene on Seinfeld he had to re-record it like 30 times and it took like 3 hours because Larry David kept telling him he was singing too well, as Jason is actually like a classically trained Broadway singer with a fantastic voice.

    A priceless moment: Jason Alexander hosting a comedy showcase at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, Australia. I can't remember the year. There was a Q and A asking Jason about his time as George Costanza. The answering machine episode eventually came up, Jason didn't remember it and sure enough a thousand people sang it perfectly. He was genuinely moved.

    It must be great to see some minor gag that started as an aside in the writers room, get to screen in the sitcom (where Jason Alexander brought it alive in the subtlest of ways with the snacking and the shrug) to then see it still adored over 20 years later like this. That’s magic really.

      to change voicemail greeting u have to call voicemail then go thru a bunch of menu options to re-record the greeting. It looked like she just had him record on a voice recorder app. I guess you could do that then play it on your phone after u go onto the greeting menu but would it be just as loud?

      I started to watch Seinfeld with my uncle who has always been a fan and I have fallen in love with the show, I think it was one of the most underrated comedies of its time

      it was definitely not underrated, at any point in its existence. A few people didn't get it, but everyone else was sitting in front of a TV on Thursday night. Also, if you like this, check out "Curb Your Enthusiasm" on HBO. It is created by and stars the co-creator of Seinfeld, Larry David (who is the person primarily responsible for the success of Seinfeld).

Some of the old episodes I hated ( the one where Jerry breaks up with his clingy guy friend, or the one where George confronts the woman who dumped chocolate on his sweater ) , but I still love the "Chuckle" episode, where George pleads with Jerry to smother him, Elaine walks into the hospital room, , and Jerry says "Elaine, what are you doing here?"
      "I'm an eggplant."

      The show really took off beginning the fourth season due to two specific episodes that season. The Contest episode and the one with the college reporter who thinks Jerry and George are gay. Forget the name of that one. That’s when it became mainstream but it was always pretty big even before then. It’s just after those two episodes the show absolutely blew up in terms of popularity. Both of those episodes were so groundbreaking for a sitcom.

      Alexander was in a Christmas TV movie ( Canadian one I believe ,judging by a few familiar Canadian actors ) about a toymaker forced by wartime powers that be to convert his factory to war making supplies.
