I absolutely loved the Eliminator. It was the best show CITV has done. I really hope we can do a revival. I thought it was lack of viewers that cancelled it. That is disappointing and sad to hear that it got cancelled because of the CITV boss. I would love to try and revive it through Vyond. I want to thank Michael Underwood for making my childhood.
This was really a trip down memory lane listening to this and as well other interviews. I'm really enjoying this one. I do wish to go back to the good days of the late 90s and very early 2000s. I do miss it.
I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to leave a comment, but I wanted to say a massive thanks to Jack. I think it's the first time I've spoken about my time on CBBC/CITV and there are so many stories. This interview could have easily been a few hours long! 🤣
Hi Michael. Great interview in here. Loved jungle run as a child. Just a question for you from myself. If any teams or team members were locked in thet temple through not getting out in time, you said they didn't get any prizes. Were they at least given the Jungle Run Monkey or did they actually leave empty handed?
Jungle run needs to come back within the next couple of years. But with a few changes. A gold statue to replace the ruby statue and is worth 30 seconds instead of 20. Different statue prices for Lock-in games whenever a Lock-in occurs. Brand new music from the minds of Marc Sylvan and Richard Jaques to accompany the show. A new Arctic spin-off to be shown in the winter (Just like how Total Wipeout did a winter season) Allowing the Jungle king to speak and try to intimidate the team and the jungle guide (Whoever the new one may be) saying that they will fail. And new challenges alongside the original ones from the Underwood era and the Jarvis era.
Thank you so much for uploading this to UA-cam Michael Underwood is classed as a national legend of children's television and is well-known for CBBC and CITV.
This was a great interview! Michael Underwood has always come across like a really nice guy. Also, lets start a petition to get that jungle run blooper released to the public haha
Really enjoyed the return of Jack's Throwback Attack. The story about how it was like at CBBC On Choice was especially interesting! I do think that 5-second links are very short as well!
First we had Leah Charles King a year ago and now Michael Underwood?! That's two CITV presenter legends in one year! This was such a great episode! Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you so much for uploading this to UA-cam Michael Underwood is an absolute children's television legend who presented the likes of CBBC and CITV I was one of the children who looked forward to coming home from school on a weekday afternoon and watching CBBC or CITV whilst eating my dinner it was a privilege to come home to children's entertainment and the best shows. I remember watching the children's shows before school as part of the breakfast show on CBBC I also have some recordings taped from years back for example Playdays and Snorks plus Johnson and Friends from CBBC2 and Spot which I recorded in October 1998 it was always a pleasure to watch children's telly before school especially as it got your day off to a great start before you had to spend the entire day in the classroom with the class teacher. I love the parts at 23:4523:46, 24:1024:11 and 24:5524:56 that is very interesting I never knew that they had to watch all their tapes in the mornings and they had to come in early to watch the programmes.
Well Michael, I loved watching Eliminator, and back when I was 12 years old, I wanted to go on it, initially unaware that it was repeated for many years, since I first saw it when I was nearly 8 years old, but I recorded several episodes on VHS to watch over and over again. If I was made the controller of Citv, I would bring back Eliminator for a third series and possibly beyond, but the question is, would you present it again?
24:3824:39 It is nice to hear Michael Underwood mentioning Woody Woodpecker and Pingu two classic CBBC programmes as for Playdays that was a brilliant CBBC show I absolutely loved it as a child and even now.
The BBC Archive Centre at Perivale has every single episode of Playbus and Playdays starting from the very first one broadcast in 1988 it is a shame that every single episode of Playbus and Playdays hasn't been uploaded to UA-cam as it was a great show which had so many episodes. I absolutely loved that show as a child and even now I go through this phrase of watching programmes from my childhood and revealing the great memories that I grew up with and I tell you something it brings a nostalgic feel I love classic kids programmes from the golden age. It would be great if the BBC Archive Centre in Perivale made a UA-cam channel especially for uploading all their classic kids programmes.
CBBC on Choice Michael Underwood was the first presenter of CBBC on Choice from Day 1 on Monday 29th November 1999, he presented from the CBBC studios linking into the programmes, showing birthday cards, drawings and pictures on air just like he did on BBC1 and BBC2, He left in November 2000 when fellow presenter Adrian Dickson overtook as main presenter after a year although he returned on the weekend of Saturday 6th January - Sunday 7th January 2001 to present for one week only.
I remember another funny moment in one episode where during a dark swamp challenge a contestant’s pair of trousers fell off then at then at the end when they got them back Michael kind of embarrassed them by saying this the first time it’s ever happened. Michael didn’t laugh but looked like he was about to
At 1:15:17 where Michael Underwood said that he went he had a go at all of the the challenges off screen. He said in the CITV special episode on Jungle Run saying “I’ve been there, I’ve done that”, was actually true he really meant it.
I was wondering do you have any interviews planned with Angelica Bell, Kirsten O'Brien or Anna who did CBBC and who will your next podcast be with Jack?
I see that Michael is not the only person who got let down during his time at CBBC because the exact same thing happened to me twice this week and I had the exact same feelings as Michael Underwood did at the time.
I was wondering whether it would be possible to do a podcast with Iain Lauchlan and Will Brenton who founded Tell-Tale Productions as they are responsible for the likes of The Fun Song Factory, Tweenies and other iconic children's shows it would be great to hear about their experiences of producing children's shows.
Hi Jack How are you today I was wondering whether I can recommend a video for your podcasts what about doing an interview with Iain Lauchlan as his company Tell Tale Productions were responsible for producing many iconic programmes for pre-school children such as The Fun Song Factory, Tweenies and so much more. Iain Lauchlan was also responsible for the production of Playdays The Why Bird Stop, Poppy Stop and The Roundabout Stop it would be great to hear about what it was like to produce iconic pre-school programmes which were loved by children nationwide Tell Tale Production certainly had a talent at producing pre-school television programmes.
Would be nice to see Michael and Richard coming together to talk with each other about the Children special and also about how similar Jungle Run was to The Crystal Maze, if that was the inspiration behind it

Please do another interview and talk about more stories. :) I really enjoyed this and would love to hear more.

Loved Jungle run but not so much naked Jungle Run with Cheggers

But think of CITV's reputation!
If you couldn't tell, that was a joke
Really enjoyed the return of Jack's Throwback Attack. The story about how it was like at CBBC On Choice was especially interesting! I do think that 5-second links are very short as well!
Fantastic interview. 👍
First we had Leah Charles King a year ago and now Michael Underwood?! That's two CITV presenter legends in one year!
This was such a great episode! Can't wait for the next one!
Erm Michael is more well known as a CBBC presenter, not CITV, he presented CBBC alongside Ana Boulder, Adrian Dickson, Liam Dolan and Angellica Bell.
Wow! I can't believe you interviewed him! He was great on CBBC and CITV back in the day!
Michael seems like such a sound guy. Jungle Run is definitely hugely iconic for those of us born in the 90s.
I remember Michael being everywhere as a kid. It's quite comforting hearing his voice again 😄

Fantastic podcast! Great to hear the stories of Michael's time at CBBC & CITV. Great listen!
I've met him a few times in the Kingston area, he's a top guy

Jack this video is amazing and it is very interesting to listen to
Jungle run is class ad still watch it now
Congrats on the fourth series mate. Top series and interview.
Jungle Run was epic.
I believe that Michael Underwood entertained both family members and children
Michael Underwood is an absolute legend
One thing I wondered about Jungle Run is how the belly of the temple opened?
8:53 You'll be pleased to know that the Astriex theme park in Paris still exists 😊

Michael underwood is CITV loyalty
Good interview, any plans on doing a podcast for 'My Parents Are Aliens'? That was one of my favourite CITV shows from the 2000's!😁😁😁
Funnily enough there was a my parent’s are aliens special on jungle run
Oh I didn't know that, I remember they did a Coronation Street special once on Jungle Run.
@@KRPTV ua-cam.com/play/PLrZM71gzpagLYHMkDXdMr3K4e7hL4Cn6t.html here is a link to a playlist of clips from the my parents are aliens special
Cheers for that, never seen that before, pity it was only three of the minor characters rather than the main ones!😀👽👽👽
@@KRPTV no problem
I was wondering do you have any interviews planned with Angelica Bell, Kirsten O'Brien or Anna who did CBBC and who will your next podcast be with Jack?
Wait and see. Each new guest is revealed a week or two before the episode release.
@@JacksThrowbackAttack Sounds great I will have something to look forward to
when you say you could get them monkeys anywhere , what sort f shops ? also what are they called /were
1:05:48 Michael basically said that it would take a week to do a whole series as there were 13 to 14 episodes in each of the 8 series.
I see that Michael is not the only person who got let down during his time at CBBC because the exact same thing happened to me twice this week and I had the exact same feelings as Michael Underwood did at the time.
(1:04:25) I know exactly which Jungle Run team Michael is referring to. The episode is through this link: (ua-cam.com/video/-d337gpLW1w/v-deo.html)
Jungle Run seems to be the British version of Legends of the Hidden Temple
That's because it is in some ways take it from game show garbage AKA game show gumbo

Ofcourse he remember the wolf spiders lol surprised he didn't say the cackling hyenas

That is very interesting
Is this not a re-upload?? Or is it due to not having the thumb nails the last time??
Nope. Brand new! Maybe you're referring to the promo I uploaded but have now made private once the actual podcast is out.
