    What a fantastic performance!!! I kind of viewed the Bangles when they hit the big time as strictly a pop girl band being pushed by producers with top 40 pop songs written to appeal to the masses. So, I regrettably never made any sort of effort to attend any of their live performances on any of their tours. What a mistake? Thankful to this channel for sharing such a raw and authentic live performance of theirs. Every once in a while ... a group of people get together and are able to create magic.

      @@mickfunny4185 No, they didn't rely, they just collaborated with known song hit makers. You just need to listen to their older material when they weren't famous yet. It's just that their own song writing weren't as popular as the one written by established song writers. Does not take away their talent and legitimacy as artists.

    • @joyk555
      @joyk555 6 років тому +1

      +@Thatmaninrio This is a Micki fan page. What they seek is to highlight (and keep present) the work of Michael, with The Bangles or outside of them. Especially since the Bangles don't give any credit for her contribution to the band and they give her treatment of "one of the many bass players who have passed through the revolving door". Even this song is not included in the DVD, because they didn't try to get the copyright, it was easier to leave it out. And we're watching this video just because they (The Steele's Legacy Keepers 😉) rescued it and upload.

    • @joyk555
      @joyk555 5 років тому +1

      @Mariana Well, first, I didn't say that anyone was more important than anyone. Second, there have been more bassists in the band (Derrick Anderson, Amanda Podany, Cathy Valentine ...). And it was Susanna who said that the bass players came and went through the revolving door, when specifically asked by Michael. And they constantly being questioned about Micki, they respond: "we are the founders, we started this" ... They put her on the same level as all of them who have only played bass. And they obviate any other contribution of Michael to the band (songwriter, lead vocalist, harmonies, guitarist ...). I don't say that they hate her or anything, but they have been neglected in their statements. Certainly, they have not wanted to replace her (as Susanna said), which speaks of a certain respect and affection, but it's also true that constantly seek to highlight themselves as founders (and now Annette as their "original bass player") as trying to remind fans that Micki doesn't.

    • @joyk555
      @joyk555 5 років тому

      Mariana At what point did I say that they ARE NOT the founders? At what point did I say that Annette is not the original bass player? At what point did I say that they can not replace Micki? What are you talking about? what is your point? You were the one who brought up the other bass players. I just said that they treated her like one more on the list. I never said that Annette or another was more important, but to Micki they lower it to the level of others, when her contribution was for far greater. And yes, having Annette is a strategy, but a way to sell tickets, but to stop them from stop asking for "the fourth Bangle". Annette has been playing with them eventually since Micki left (15 years ago), not now.
      To the simple question of, "where is Michael?" They responds, "she retired, but we are the founders". As if the question was, "who founded the band?". (¿¿¿????)

    • @joyk555
      @joyk555 5 років тому +1

      Mariana Ok. But, as you interpret that to a simple question about Michael they respond "well, we have had many bassists in our history" or "the bass players are a thing of entering and leaving through the revolving door". When could they easily say "she retired and has another kind of life"? and in fact at first they did it, but their discourse has been changing in recent years.
      That's why I said that they have been "neglected" in their handling with the press and the fans. They have never known to handle the issue of Steele's departure.

    • @JohnDoe-zi5tk
      @JohnDoe-zi5tk 5 років тому +2

      @Joy K It's called PR. Their emphasis on the fact that they are the founders is rooted in them wanting to assure fans that The Bangles that they love are still around. If they just talked about how much they miss Michael, at a certain point it would come off as them reflecting on how their best days are behind them. FTR, I definitely think that without Michael they are missing that "X factor", although they're still great. And I'm sorry, but this notion that they don't give her contributions any credit or only think of her as just one of the bassists they've had is ludicrous. Some passing comment in an interview doesn't change the fact that after Michael left in 2004, they did not have a permanent bassist until 2018 when Annette came back. That's 14 years. They also regularly commemorate her birthday on their Facebook page, which they haven't done for Derrick Anderson or Abby Travis. That shows that they consider her to be a much more important and integral member of the band. Finally, listen to their commentary here: ua-cam.com/video/nI9Lpi3x2lA/v-deo.html. It's obvious that they deeply miss Michael. They're silent throughout much of the footage and when they do talk, they say comments like how they miss the interplay they were able to achieve with her. Just because Susanna made some random comment in an interview or because they say that they're the founders does not mean that they don't consider Michael as an extremely important member of the band. They obviously have a lot of respect and admiration for her and give her a ton of credit.
