@Wolf Lover That's a good question! Unlike WolfQuest 2.5, there doesn't need to be a specific pattern or order to trying to get a mate. Generally, you have to make an impression before you can approach. Once you do, it's really up to you to decide the next steps and there is no right or wrong. So by all means, licking could be the last thing!
Yo yo! So I know experiences vary, but I managed to invoke interest in a pack wolf! Basically what I did was, sleep and occupy claimed territory, than successfully Chase off hostile wolves and sleep again. The next day, a hostile wolf accompanied by a benign wolf appeared. I chased off the dangerous wolf and was given the opportunity to court the pack wolf that remained, by he was 3star and I was still looking for 4star. But it was still cool to see that it was possible!
@@gdwolf7 Thats awesome! If you play on a female wolf, there is also a male wolf that wanders around thats really elusive. Hes usually on the right side of the map if youre looking from where you spawn. Hes hard to find, Ive encountered him on several of my female wolves. I dont know if hes programmed differently or what, but usually he stays back if you run into a male dispersal pack, he might show up in the background. When you try to court him, hes often chased off by other male dispersals, which makes him quite a challenge to court. Like last time I found him, he got chased off by 3 different male dispersal packs, which makes me wonder if he was programmed that way. He is 4 stars I believe? and hes an AMAZING hunter. I was filming stuff about him on my other computer but I lost all of that.
If you go to just barely inside the territory and fall asleep, sometimes when you wake up, a dispersal from the pack will be the wolf who finds you. Other times, it will be a hostile wolf or nothing. If you go too deep into the territory, you usually wake up to hostile wolves.
I hope you're able to play soon! You know Im not sure. I don't think it does. I know in real wolves, the older they are, the wiser and better decisions they make in helping keep themselves and pack members alive. I'm not sure if WolfQuest is going to do anything with that information, but for now at least, it doesn't appear to affect anything. There is one wolf I notice that wanders by himself. If you play as a female wolf, you may stumble across him. He's very elusive and shy. Every time I bump into him on a female wolf, dispersal wolves always chase him off during courting. It's so hard to court him because its almost as if the dispersal are programmed to show up to chase him away. They always show up, and sometimes its different dispersal that chase him off. Once you get away from one group, another shows up. This particular wolf seems to be really strong and good at hunting. Maybe, if I can find him again, Ill be able to film it.
@@why.2666 Yesss. He seems to be a wolf with a backstory. I tried looking up the pack that he was from online. The real pack that he's based off of is known for having a lot of dispersal groups and splitting off, and coming back together. There's multiple different variants of the same pack because they keep changing their groups up. It seems to be really interesting wolf behavior. Ill probably include that research in the video if Im able to find him again.
A WHITE female wolf is best paired up with what? To have healthy pups of course I just made my main wolf or aka my wolf that is me instead in a game xd but I was wondering what is the best to pair up with thanks!! Also I love your content and how you do it! Who knows maybe one day you and jay plays will collab! Or somethin!
You know WolfQuest never shared what would work with white wolves. However, from being someone who knows about wolves, there have been only a few white wolves in Yellowstone and I know WolfQuest based their genetics off of the Yellowstone wolves... So I can share a little more. In short, pairing them with either a black or grey wolf should be just fine. For deeper understanding, its important to understand how white wolves came to be in Yellowstone to begin with, and to understand that, you should first know something about black wolves. (Holy cow, its a long goose-chase). Black wolves do something called phasing, where over the course of their life, they slowly turn white. They still tend to show signs of having been a solid black wolf at one point, as their ears and the top of their nose tend to remain black or grey, and a few other areas of their bodies may have black furs in them. Now this is something known to happen in black wolves, and grey colored wolves tend to get a little whiter as they age, but nothing to the same degree as black wolves. However, there were a few cases of real wolves in Yellowstone (google "White Lady of Yellowstone") that weren't black wolves, but still turned out white. These wolves started off with the grey coloration, but phased in the same way that black phase wolves do. So essentially, they were "grey phase wolves," though, that term I don't believe is recognized anywhere scientifically. But that's what happened. These white wolves were originally grey, but phased to white. There's only been like 3 examples of them in Yellowstone, which is why (Im guessing) that the "white pup" was an unlock for having a lot of exp. That means if WolfQuest is following the genetics of Yellowstone wolves, the white wolves in game should be considered grey genetically. That means having a grey x grey pairing would work, or a grey x black pairing should work. So really, either is fine. Understanding the game: Without diving too terribly deep into genetics, the reason that black x black pairings have smaller litter sizes in game is because it models real wolf genetics. In genetics, when we talk about genes, there are two parts that make up the gene. One part comes from the mother, and one part comes from the father. Within regular genetics (not diving too deep because its more complicated than this), a dominant gene means that you only need one of those parts to have that trait. A recessive gene means you need 2 copies of that part to have that trait. Grey fur in wolves is recessive. That means you need two grey parts to get a grey wolf. So if Grey is represented by a part called "a" because it is recessive, and every animal has 2 parts, to get a grey wolf, you'd need the gene to be "aa." Black fur is dominant, which means you only need one black part to get a black wolf. If a black wolf is represented by a part called "A" because it is dominant, and every animal has 2 parts, to get a black wolf, you'd need the gene to be either "AA" or "Aa." However, particularly in wolves, "AA" is considered a type of fatal gene. The baby wolves, who would be black, that get the genes "AA" are never developed inside the mother, so they can never be born. That means the only black wolves out there (that aren't wolfdogs, because again, dog genetics are different), have the gene parts "Aa." If two black wolves breed, because they are "Aa," each baby has a 25% chance of never developing, 50% chance of being black, and 25% chance of being grey. So if two black wolves have pups, the litters are smaller because there's a 25% chance for each developing pup to never actually develop. However, black wolves are more immune to disease than grey wolves. But pairing 2 black wolves together can be fatal for unborn offspring. HOPE THIS HELPS. That was really long, but in short, you should be able to pair a white wolf with either black or grey.
