I'm the same age as Dolly, and when she brings up stories like sugar and butter on White Bread playing Marbles and hopscotch and Other Stories it takes me back to when I was little. She's gotten so comfortable in front of the camera and I just love to hear her talk. This was a great video.🐣
Your such a breath of fresh air! I really want you to understand how wonderful you are to any of us who watch you & refer you to others to watch you & your videos. We're absolutely just plain Lucky😉💖😘
That was a Triangle a'hangin' on the front porch. Im a full blood Cajun-BOTH SIDES- and my brother Remy and I were raised by my Grandparents from my early teens. We lived in a shotgun built by my 2×great-granpapa, in a cyprus bayou. And WE had a triangle a-hangin' on the porch.
Mom really was a country girl. That whistle! Every country girl wanted to be able to do that! Her animal sounds are very good, also. I agree about the Shetland pony. Our Cocoa would attack me, because he knew that I was afraid of him. He never attacked my younger brothers, and he was always slow and gentle with toddlers and babies. Wow, you have stirred the memory bowl for this 70+ Sr. I always loved spending time with my maternal grandmother. She shared wonderful stories about her life.Treasured memories!
Gio's genuune laugh reminds me of my late hubby's! So hearty & irresistible! A person can't help but join in! I laugh my socks off, when he & Dolly are cutting up! I can barely catch my breath! Funnier than any comedians! Love them!
Your mom is so beautiful inside & out. Also hilarious. She brought back memories of when I was a kid. Our family always ate at 5 o'clock too. Most families did on our blocks. I grew up in a town next to Denver. Lots of kids on our city block so we all played until it got almost dark then home we went. Everyone knew everyone on the block. Thanks for the memories.🤗💖👍
I grew up in Lakewood, Co. Dad would pull up from work at 4:50 in the afternoon and we would sit down to dinner @ 5pm. After dishes, we could play outside until the street light came on.
Being brought up in the country was heavenly. Watching all the baby animals being born. Doing homework and then riding horses. So so healthy for the head. The country breeds some very strong women. I loved it.
The best back and forth between mother and son ! Miss Dolly doesn't hold back imitating the farm animals !! She wanted a donkey, not a Shetland pony ! Made my Saturday so fun listening to all the memories ! Gio is a great interviewer, keeps things rolling ! Like, bring it on !
Farm women are warriors...we are used to bossing around very large animals.....horses, cattle, etc...attitude is everything.... (We also boss farm kids/dogs/roosters/etc around)....
Your Mama is a great. She loves her children fierecely, and you can hear it in her voice. So classy and young at heart. Cherish her always. I made mud pies after a rain when I was a little girl😊
I JUST now wrote about making mud pies as a little girl.👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼🥰. It’s so funny how we of a certain age amused ourselves outside before the days of television happened. The only shows I remember from the 1960s was Lassie and Flipper and The Wonderful World of Disney that came on Sunday evenings. I even remember when Walt was showing that new Theme Park he wanted to open in the Everglades called Disneyworld. 🥰
How entertaining & enjoyable! That’s the most I’ve smiled in a long time! I am 71 & it is fun to hear we shared the same games & playtime activities. I grew up in NC near the mountains.
😂Sassy has definitely passed on her humor and sass. Haven't seen your post for a while but was needed today. Home sick in bed but the stories, beauty, laughter and love a great cure💝
The old dinner bell triangle is what my grandma on dad's side had to call for dinner. The clip that you slipped in of Gram Doris was so sweet. I wish I could have met her.
Your mom got me on the cow impression! Love her candidness and just so happy that you are capturing these memories! Then there's that neighbor -- Sassy Gran didn't like her either! LOL
Watching this was so heartwarming. I love the banter between you guys. Mom sure had an interesting childhood. Thanks for painting such a vivid picture, ma'am.
So entertaining, made my memories of my childhood come back to the surface! Oh what simpler times those were, these kids now a days dont know what theyre missing out on.I truly feel bad for the kids now that cant just run free like we did and use their imaginations like we had to,so much to be afraid of these days.I really enjoyed the story of the crow!
You and your mom are darling Gio. I knew a little bit about my mom’s childhood. Now that she is gone I wish that I would have had more talks with her like you and Dolly do. It’s so fun to see you laughing together again. Thank you both🤗
I would whistle for my kids when the street lights came on too. Growing up riding my bike, playing in the mud making mud pies, playing in the creek. Beautiful memories I would always cherish. I love that you record those beautiful memories to look back on. Absolutely love you guys. 😍
That's what I like about you;you're stories are real; I leaved in that era! Those were the days; I relieve my life listen to you release yours LOVE IT! Thank you and DON'T STOP!!! Your mom's childhood in the country reminds of my parents who are around the same age. My dad's parents even had cow bell to ring for dinner. They still had it when I was a kid. 😊
Were her family worried she wouldn't be happy and then surprised she was happy and looking so pretty? She really looks extra pretty in this video. Her hair is so nice. Her makeup is perfect, the lovely dress she's wearing with the sheer sleeves and her red lips and nails and her prefect dangling earrings. She's glowing. She's never been more happy in her life. Thanks to you and your mom and Petey. Such nice family. She's going out and doing things and she's a celebrity. ❤❤👍🌸🌹.
I just happened to take a gulp of my drink just as you said " that was your uncle doing ventrilequism".....I swear I chocked, laughed, and practically drowned in the process I really needed that laugh tonite . Your mom and you are so naturally comical..between your laugh, and her extreme facial expressions I cant get a break from laughing . So wonderful to see you both so in love with each other !
I've tried whistling like that forever! Never have been able to get it. Crows can talk. They are very smart and have even been used as witnesses in murder cases. They remember if someone has been mean to them, and they remember if someone has been nice. They learn very fast as well.
What a fun video this was! Learning about your mom growing up on the farm was so enjoyable...especially to.someone who was a city girl. Would love to hear what it was like for her raising you and your brother. I bet she can tell us some fun stories.

Thank you for sharing this video, you two have such good conversations. I remember talking with my grandpa and listening to his stories. I think sharing stories like this with family, brings them so much closer, you get a real feel of how it was when they grew up. It's your history, it should be shared, it certainly creates memories.
