Are Some COVID Patients Not Taking Paxlovid?

- Paxlovid was hailed as the breakthrough treatment for COVID-19 when it was first approved in December 2021. Along with mass vaccinations, Paxlovid was credited with helping to end the pandemic. However, with COVID-19 deaths spiking once again there's concern that some patients who need Paxlovid are refusing to take it. A new study says only 15% of COVID-19 patients take Paxlovid. If more had taken the drug, an estimated 48,000 lives would have been saved.
this answers the question "Would you drink liquid garbage if it meant saving your life?" I guess most people wouldn't.
To be honest, paxlovid was the absolute worse medicine I ever taken along with the other common medicines for cold and flu like symptoms. Everytime I try to take it with food or a drink, the taste is so overpowering I nearly threw up which made it harder for me to get better. But after five or six days, I felt better and tested negative afterwards. I just wish Paxlovid came in a liquid form so I wouldn't gag.
Paxlovid tastes like sucking on a dead mouse for 5 days. It made me nauseated and caused vomiting. On day 4, I had to postpone my morning dose because I had to drive 5 hours to get home. I felt really good, like normal all day that day but the nausea and mild dizziness came back when I took it again that evening. I think I had a mild case of covid and maybe didn't need the medicine but I did feel slight fatigue for almost 5 weeks before getting back to normal. I am 72.
It tastes very bitter and metallic to me. Like biting and sucking directly into a bittermelon then licking the stainless steel fridge.
The taste was terrible but it helped me feel so much better. I was very grateful to have an option of medication
the option of medication that can cause life-threatening side effects or death? sounds pretty stupid. you would have felt better in a week by taking vitamins and drinking water. pfizer still scamming people 4 years out. unreal. @@ValentinoBentley
I am currently on Paxlovid - i have just been released from the hospital and have used it for just one day - the drug wakes me up multiple times at night and it’s all because of the metallic taste in my mouth ..literally that’s the only reason my body will actually wake me up from sleep..cause it senses metallic taste in my mouth …also it causes delirium…..I am dreading taking today’s dose but I have to keep taking ir.
This is literally a advertisement but I'm not seeing the tag
Paxlovid is $1600 and my health insurance doesn't cover it, this does not mean that I didn't "want" to take it.
Right??? I was gonna say, maybe because it’s so damn expensive and not everyone has a bunch of money to fork out
Got paxlovid for free no questions asked at the counter
Strange, I have no insurance and I only paid 16$
pfizer CEO didnt make enough money on the 5 rounds of booster shots. haha, now they need to scare people into taking 'paxlovid'... this is unreal.
Stop right now....we had enough.....
That Dr thinks we're all stupid.
No, just special someone's. 🙄
She isn't wrong about the flavor lol. I had covid over Christmas and Paxlovid did nothing for me. As soon as I finished the course of it, I got sick again right away.
I took it and it made my COVID go away within days, felt better after it
outside of social media, it's simply called a "covid-rebound" because it's able to happen to both those who take the drug *but also* to those who don't...the more you know 🤦♂️
Well I guess you’re better now and not in the grave? So. Cheers Paxlovid.
Considering it interacts with several of my other medications, I know a lot of people can’t take it for this one reason. I had to choose between my psych meds and Paxlovid. I’’d rather have COVID again than another mixed episode.
😂 girl i hear you!!!!
How the hell do you know how garbage can juice tastes??....my gosh what a comparison
Taste is extremely tied to smell. So if you smell something, a lot of times you can actually taste it.

Turned it down. Had covid after Thanksgiving, and the main symptom was cough and scratchy throat. Halls cough drops helped more than the prescription cough suppressant.
I can’t believe they’re still dragging out this nonsense
20x profit=1 billion drugs equals 20 billion thats why
"Helped ending covid" is such a b.s. statement. Offer something as evidence besides the paid Dr.
I wonder how much did the media made for this broadcast?
A lot, as the media makes money on lies.
My mom was prescribed Paxlovid, but her insurance would not cover it. It's $1750.00!!
In Canada my insurance was billed about $13.
Nearly 2000% mark up profit
I had to take it too myself. Personal experience, worse taste of a pill of my life, and did have the worst side effects ( diarrhea) lost some weight from being so sick. But it did help a great amount. Now everyone is different but If I was truly dying like last time… then yes
Side effect - like chewing a mouthful of uncoated aspirin without water. It doesn’t go away for weeks after you finish the 6 giant pills a day. There is no “little metallic taste in your mouth.” Never again.
Prof. at the end sounds like he's doing an ad read. Gotta get that 💰no matter the cost.
I had Covid over Christmas and was prescribed Paxlovid ~ it immediately reduced the chills that ran down my spine like electric shocks ~ I still had to rest and take fluids but I found it helped a lot.
You should have taken the vaccines so would need not Paxlovid.
Me too. I swear by it.
Just money making schemes
I got Covid for the first time in December and took Paxlovid. The taste is horrible and constant BUT it worked for me, I never developed any bad symptoms other than being tired and the taste goes away as soon as you stop taking the medicine. I would take it again if I had to.
Covid shut up we’re done
not gonna lie, never heard of it till now
My Dr wouldn’t give me it
I got paxlovid and am taking it. My boyfriend was refused for paxlovid by urgent care. The doctor that saw him said he did not need it
Who gets Paxlovid? I had COVID and wasn't prescribed anything. 😂 I took tylenol and ibuprofen for the pain.
That’s on your doctor
I don’t blame them for not taking it. My grandma took it and said it tasted like toilet water
I didn't know we "had to" take this. I got c0v1d at least 5 times and never took it and I was fine.
you MUST take this medication, even if it can cause strokes and death. the Pfizer CEO says so!
I’ll be 30 in a few weeks and I still cannot swallow pills 😵💫 I would have chewed this pill like it was a nasty piece of candy and moved right along 😂😂
I'm also a woman in her 30s who sucks at swallowing pills. Here's a little tip: put the drink in your mouth first, and then drop the pill into your mouth and swallow. It kind of tricks your brain into thinking that you're drinking.
chew a biscuit or a piece of bread and then swallow a pill down with it, a thick yoghurt also works great
Everyone has a different reaction, I took a chance and the taste was not that bad, I felt it towards the back of my throat but it was not overpowering. It took about 3-4 hours to taste the med after taking it, So it's not a taste that hits you right away. If you have the meds, give them a try.
Honestly, I've had covid so many times it doesn't really affect me anymore - mild back ache. Ironically, all the old stuff like colds/flu/rsv/etc really wear me down now since I haven't been sick except for covid the last 3-4 years.
I know multiple people that have had COVID some of them multiple times… And Paxlovid was never even offered by the doctor treating them. Seems that not even doctors recommend this drug unless it’s an extreme case…
I hope the manufacturer improves the taste a little bit
its medicine its not meant to taste good
Am I the only one who never heard of paxlovid
Covid was old news by the time it came out.
This wasn't available in my country.
Paxlovid? What the hell kind of name is that?
Paxlovid saved my immune compromised on chemotherapy life. Had it once in April 2023.
I had Covid last fall, I didn’t like taking Paxlovid due to the taste but it worked out pretty well for me, my mother and brother.
Next time you will heed the recommendations of healthcare professionals and take the vaccines so you would have no need for the pill.
i really hope this is sarcasm.@@danielmanly4793
We can’t take it now, they tried charging us 1,000 dollars
I liked paxlovid but i got covid again two months later so idk it really sucked this past year but maybe going through it will not make me get it again
If ibuprofen tastes terrible i cant imagine paxlovid
Never heard of this till now 🤣💀
Never heard of this drug. I guess the billion dollar covid grift is still going.
Paxlovid saved my dad from worsening symptoms and hospitalization. He was so sick and bedridden that he had no desire to eat due to the constant and debilitating coughing episodes. He improved drastically after taking it and did not need to be hospitalized. It was a godsend. He did not experience any covid rebound.
I do not beleive.
@@brendavegeta2457 it works I’ve taken it twice. Both times makes you better in 24hrs

Paxlovid should take a page out of Buckley’s book.
I really wished my doctor would’ve prescribed it to me. I had a fever 4 days and it felt like someone punched me in the stomach and in the middle of my back. It was painful.
Doctors don’t force medicine on people. People bother doctors with their problems, then act like they know more than the doctor. 🥳
I mean... ...yeah, that's what doctors get paid to do: get bothered with our medical problems. Duh. You don't have to be a genius to figure out why a medical professional is dealing with medical issues. People not taking Paxlovid because it's gross is a problem if they're also claiming that COVID is deadly. 😵💫
I've taken 6 needles for covid prevention so far and will be my last.
🤡💀
Wtf, my Dr never even offered me anything
Umm how would she know what garbage liquid from the can tastes like. I'll tell you how it tastes...delicious!
And nutritious

I had the severe metal taste the first round, and I hate it, but I'm on it right now and it's not as bad as it was last time.
Never heard of this medicine.
Thankfully, I haven't had COVID yet, so I haven't had to take Paxlovid. But, couldn't they put a coating of some kind on it? Or put it in a capsule? I think I'll try putting a plug on my nose if I ever have to take it. Usually, if you can't smell something, you can't taste it. Ooh. Maybe when I buy vitamins/minerals and I find an open capsule, I'll remember to save them and see if I can put a Paxlovid inside them.
It is not the actual taste of the pills, it is how taking the pills makes your mouth taste. My mouth tasted like I had something dead in it and it doesn’t go away until you stop taking the meds. I had so many side effects from this medicine I stopped after 3 days. The taste in my mouth was the worst!
No, because I did not get COVID until spring of last year and could not afford it.
i got covid…guess what i did… ate an apple took 2 hour nap woke up like i slept 8 hours best nap ever fr
I got so sick taking paxlovid! It does taste disgusting and it stays in your mouth for hours! I got nauseous and dizzy and it made me sicker than COVID did!!! Paxlovid made me feel worse, I had to stop taking it after day 2!
At least, somebody's honest review of that "magical life saving drug".
I stopped after my first dose because I had both diarrhea and vomiting. The Dr. who prescribed it warned me and said if I had those symptoms I was better off not taking it.
@@mikehunt9124 that stuff was horrible! The first time that I got covid I took regular cough and cold medicine and I turned out just fine and I wasn't as sick at all with that medicine compared to the paxlovid!
my older cousin took it and he said it taste like rotten Pepsi
It tastes awful, but it works
You needs labs drawn before taking it and it is thousands of dollars
I took Paxlovid and it reduce my symptoms almost immediately. The taste it leaves behind is the only side effect i experienced.
Well this just proves that not every miracle cure is a good thing😮
And who called it a miracle cure?! 😂
No matter what we do Covid😅 nineteen will always be there
Kratom ,weed, paracetamol. Holy trinity when sick

Paxlovid, and lots of Severe Day and night NyQuil after the 3rd day of isolation I was able to get out of bed
There's other things that work waaaaay better and have no side effects
Horrid taste worst drug I ever took had diarrhea but it did the trick….
I'm not vaccinated because I can't
Personal experience So last year I was on my Disney Vacation. My Mom wasn't feeling well so she had Covid.Than my sister caught it than I caught it. When me and my mom got home. She called the doctor and the doctor recommend taking this. We took it 5 days after nothing has changed. We were still the same. So we went to Urgent Care and the doctor said we had bronchitis and I honestly think that what we had this whole time not covid even so I don't think Paxlovid isn't really helpful
0:37 - from the files of what busted Britney Spears as no longer being a virgin (she said chocolate, I think it was, was better than sex) - you can't compare 2 things, unless you've experienced both things....so, ma'am, just when, & under what circumstances, have you tasted the garbage which sits at the bottom of your trash can?

There was no bad taste that I experienced. Maybe because all the other symptoms were kicking my butt I didn't notice it.
Bro you're not supposed to give paxlovid to birds
Really!!! How much have you being paid for your "fantastic review"?
I didn’t experience any taste either it was like taking any regular pill it work just fine for me

Ive never had it but have had covid 4 times now and gotta say, it just isnt that bad. Like maybe people have grown up a little bit. Just kidding. I know this is all because people dont like a nasty taste
Such a dumb excuse. You barely taste it
The taste and smell in your mouth was disgusting. It smelled like death, and made food and water taste awful. Plus, I don't really think it shortened or lessened my symptoms. I felt horrible for 3 weeks, even after taking this medicine.

Urgent care would not dispense Paxlovid. They said it damages your kidneys!!!! 🤔🫣
Shhh... you're supposed to be the evil one here. Follow the agenda
Even taken basic paracetamol in pain killers excessively can damage your kidneys. It’s about the dose and duration.
Just relating what actually happened! They said a full medical screen had to be done prior to dispensing Paxlovid...to check for contraindications...🙄
Sounds like they suspected that you might be a high-risk patient (per symptoms & medical history) and wanted to take precautions before prescribing for you; for some people that would be very appropriate. @@n.c.467
