Good one Tim. Those who can produce their own meat, can feed their family, and have a trade good everyone needs. Food will get you through times of no money, better than money will get you through times of no food.
Meat Trapper, thank you for these. I take my trapping course in 2 weeks. 26, long time hunter, first time trapper. Looking forward to the journey. You've been an inspiration to me, I've watched for years.
Thanks for all your videos, great information I've also enjoy the fact that your wife supports you with your love for the outdoors. My wife loves being with me also. Keep on making the videos.
Thoroughly enjoyed the information provided, I'm very new to trapping and look to educate myself every chance I have. Thank You, Mr and Mrs. Meat Trapper
MR meat trapper you got some great ways to trap animals. i used drown sets and conibears to trap beaver this year.they both were successful.look forward to your next video.say hi to Mrs meat trapper.take care
+Todd Wittenmyer Thanks buddy! I've got some good footage coming out next week of a monster beaver caught in a TS-85 flat set! I think I'm going to do a side by side test between TS-85's and MB-750's this season. Would be interesting to see them in the same sets, same lure, etc.
Your the man. My sleepy creek #2 long springs are my favorite. Unfortunately I can't find any online anymore. Do you know if sleepy creek went out of business of something? For the past year the availability of their long spring traps seems to just be going away. I cant imagine the pandemic would cause only long spring trap shortages.
Yes, they went out of business. If you can find any, buy them. Pro tip: You can buy wide cast replacements jaws for an MB450 and put those jaws on the Sleepy Creek #2LS. Great upgrade for the trap.
@@Meattrapper Roger that. Gonna be scouring the internet for #11s and #2s now. And I'm definitely gonna give those cast jaws a try. Bought 2 dozen lightning leaf springs to beef them up in the future as well.
@@Meattrapper #2s seem to have gone extinct. Found a dozen SC #11s double jaw offsets though and ordered them up. Should be here Friday Question though... what are your thoughts on offset jaws? I think they would be superior in holding power simply because they would allow the long springs to ride up the jaws higher and get a better lock. As you already know, the top spring locks the jaws closed but the higher up that spring goes the more mechanical advantage... so in theory, offset jaws are definitively better than regular jaws no? (Except for beaver tails of course) I'm asking because I'm looking at MB450 jaws this very moment and I have the choice right now. The offset is 3/16"... since I want my #2s to be all around survival traps and be able to catch even the smallest animals like opossum and rabbit... you think 3/16" would allow small animals to pull out? Or am I just splitting hairs here Thanks man. Silvers looking pretty good now ain't it?!
" outlaw trapping " video sounds like something I would buy. When you are finished making it and it's available to buy please upload a youtube video explaining what it covers. Thanks
could you use two step stick setups to cause a break step. one before and one after the trap. to attempt a break step in ether direction. even on land and place the sticks 1 up to 6 inches off the ground. and a certain amount of fencing or funneling.. so they hop over and land on the trap pan. the set would have to be set species specific. you might want to set up the sticks first and watch the patterns of the break step. so you can purposely set the trap in the landing zone. and if you set several around in trails it would also break the tendency of educating them to a given situation. because if it happens every-time then that sets up a pattern they will become accustom to. and if the situation doesn't happen every-time. then you break a pattern that they could possibly become accustom to. and rotate the traps around the area. SURPRISE!!!!! not that i've ever done this. it just seems logical, after what your said in this presentation.
+dale myers I have tried two sticks and seem to get more animals that step completely over the two sticks than in between. I do believe it must be species specific for two sticks to work. When I walk down a trail, if I encounter a single stick or small log, I tend to adjust my gait so that I can evenly step over the stick. For me to step in between two sticks they must be spaced perfectly. It is something to experiment with for sure.
For fox and sometimes coyotes I like to use one step over stick something about the size of my thumb making it awkward for them to step on , and one or two guide sticks, twig sized poked into the ground spaced far enough in front of the trap it would be awkward to step over thus having the animal step over the step over and before the guide stick and onto the trap pan. You have to remember a animal uses it’s feet to escaped predators and get to food they won’t risk injuring they’re paws so even leaving a small stone out will cause them to step around it.
Tim, Your Crew is a whole lot better looking than your sorry butt.....LOL Amazing for me, is after all these years for me, this short video put lots of years of experience into a better perspective for me. God Bless you and your Crew and thanks for all that you do for us Subscribers! Bulldog

you should specify that these are sets you mainly use in your region. In the north we use other methods of setting foot holds.
+gunner5178 Very true - I often forget to mention that.

+Prepare2Survive Definitely will do - will be after the end of the season.
Beautiful family :)
+Ron Hart Thank you sir.
I'm not saying your set methods are not good. I agree with your methods.
Anyone ever heard of Martrell Valentine? He was a state trapper in Louisiana God bless his soul.
Someone should have written a book.
Homer Brown I never met him, but he is a legend. Can you imagine him having a channel and sharing his skill?
