This was my first listen when I found the Bible Project last year and I'm glad I kept listening through all the wincing in the first half, because I have come to love these explorations. Many of the reasons I distrusted Christians and dismissed them as selfish and clueless were contained here. My main takeaway this time round is how valuable it is to be every day cultivating a living relationship with Our Lord, so that it's not what I think, or what anyone else thinks, but what God speaks to me directly that determines my daily trajectory.
My call to ministry was, and has been totally life changing. There are still battles, but I walk with the father, so the victory is guaranteed. The pay isn't great, but the rewards are biblical.
I've listened to this episode twice already. I actually just started listening to the book by John and Gregory on Audible yesterday and you decided to re release rhe episode. One of the most pivotal episodes for me as a Christian who struggles with stewardship.
Ive listened to this twice too and recommended it to several people. Thanks for re-releasing it. John you did so great on this podcast. I wish you'd do more like this one!!
Worth listening all the way through! (27 min onwards got me curious). I am inspired by John and Greg's journey shares (backgrounds till current) and the diverse paths they were and are on. In a place in my life, where I am wrestling with inner debates on this subject (biblical views on God & Wealth - in line with purpose and personal callings, as a believer), more so as I focus on my future dreams and aspirations.. This is helpful - "how much should I keep" along with listening to the Sermon on the Mount' podcast series Bible Project featured this year.. been loving it!!! Keep up the great work Jon & Tim. May you stay blessed! 💜
You only get out of it what you put into it. You're wasting your time if you walk in with blinders on and full of preconceived notions. You can't love God if you're full of pride. Start from a place of humility and surrender to God. Try this and you will have a truly rewarding experience
@@SeekingAlfalfa UA-cam is auto-deleting a lot of comments for seemingly no reason. I've had quite a few deleted, and all I've been talking about is driving or something like that. I would be quicker to assume that is what's happened before assuming someone from Bible project did it. They don't seem to be very active, if at all, on the podcast channel. I've never seen a reply here, but they do reply on the main channel sometimes.

Probably my favourite episode. Glad you've re-released it. Such an important topic.
I think it's my favorite too! It's the most memorable one!
A humbling and thought provoking discussion. Thanks to all involved.
Jesus lives! ♥️ and is God 🙏🏻 Christ ✝️ and King 👑

Tim’s view of Matthew 6.24 was why I subscribed.
Back then I thought I was subscribing for a long time, and now 8 years later.. 🤷
❤
Ug, the rich kid's story again.
Wow, eight years...
I have been in many churches. From non-denominational to orthodox. I can say it with certainty that church is all about money.
the right church isn’t

Sounds like the wrong church but I would decide based on what the church was doing with the money.
