Fantastic! This is the best examination of the wonderful Smiley Smile album I have ever come across. Like you, I find "Fall Breaks And Back To Winter (W. Woodpecker Symphony)" a very spooky, creepy (in a good way) musical experience, very psychedelic. I have loved the album since I first heard it in early 1968. I have an original U.S.A. copy, a UK copy, and both Analogue Productions versions (mono and stereo). By the way, Paul Williams (the rock critic, not the singer/songwriter) wrote about the recording of Smile as the sessions were taking place, as reported in three issues of Crawdaddy magazine. The three articles were later included in his book Outlaw Blues, a great read.
great review of smiley smile, i too love this album so strange so experimental and i like the two big singles being on there both are so cool, the album cover is awesome and the two to follow wild honey and friends, great psych and weirdness, cheers man

I'm not sure if I've ever read those pieces, I need to look for them. Thanks for the hint!
