Utopia gave everyone that's actually creative hope to be creatives again and still feel you can make it. We no longer we have to feel we need to be cookie cutter to have a fighting chance any more.
I recommend all of you go listen to Scaring The Hoes from JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown because after listening to that, I can’t help but feel like Utopia isn’t as creative as people hype it up to be. You will never hear another song like Steppa Pig or Garbage Pale Kids.
wondagurl is so so underrated, deserves all her flowers right now, played such a big role in travis and don tolivers career and for trap music in general
Bumping Utopia on a daily and it still grows on me. Even tho there are some sections which i dont like, i'd say its a great Album. And from the production side it definitely raises the bar
It’s insane that this album is primarily based off older samples cause it sounds like a lot of the samples were created from scratch recently because of how modern it sounds in todays music.
Good video as always bro. I like what they did with the hi hats on Gods Country also. They have a very nice rhythm. My Eyes is one of my favorite songs off the album just because it’s so different. Travis has always thought outside the box. His music breaks all the genre lines.
@@NavieD for sure. The amount of effort that goes behind a Travis Scott Album is more effort than mainstream rappers put behind their whole careers and it shows.
I think that just like Kanye inspired a young generation with 808's, a lot of artists in a few years from now will say that this album has inspired them.
I just happy to see someone as big as Travis Scott using samples in their songs in 2023. So many people hate on samples. They don't understand how many songs actual use them.
I love the way you explain the tricks used in drum parts! Coming up with an original drum pattern that also works well in the context of the song is legit one of the hardest things to do, but also one of those things that make the song immediately stand out (which is the case with most songs on Utopia). I'd definitely love to see more of that!
Utopia the greatest album I've ever heard. I am learning as a producer, and it is helping me shape into what sound I want to make. This break down from you was incredible.
They way you break down all these beat patterns and sound structures from most of his songs from utopia is just mind boggling. Like it's almost as complicated given the fact there's more than two producers for each song. Big ups man 🔥
This breakdown inspired me to dive deeper into traditional African music. A lot of drum patterns to be borrowed from. This album was definitely interesting and inspiring.
That sample reconstruction technique as you showcase it, may be new, but it's roots lie in remixing or seperating a sample into layers. That's something I hope everybody who watches these types of vids always keeps in mind, never discard "old techniques" because there may come a point in time where you can reapply them with new tools to create something innovative. That's why I like when some of your videos show off old-school techniques, because I feel like a lot of newer producers lack the connection to those.
i won’t lie, i’m not usually a big fan of your content, but this video was a gem. you have great knowledge as always i just tend to find the videos very vanilla, which is fine, and a bit repetitive. but EVERYONES been shouting out and taking sponsors from paid stem separators and the first thing you say is a free one that sounded great in the example, much love for that. i feel like you pushed yourself outside your box with this one and would love to see more of this caliber because i think it’s great.in the future try to reiterate on topics and concepts seen in old videos less and you’re already very quirky but try to be more weird, i think more personality would be endearing. anyway much love and if you see this comment know it’s all because i think you’re a great teacher and i state my criticism only hoping to see improvement❤️
Great video! Been experimenting with stem splicing with Spleeter, which is free, for quite some time now (a couple years). Wasn't perfect at the time, but got the job done - glad to see it's a technology that's used more now
Un grand merci a BIG thanks from France it was amazing to learn about the instrumental on the Utopia album. I LOVE IT thank you again and I wish you the best.
Navie D there’s one producer i’d like to see you analyze and see his ways of creativity his name is Monte Booker not many people know of him but if you do have the chance look him up he has very unique sounds
I first heard Delresto from the album when it dropped and I was blown away, I knew it sounded different. But when I listened to Hyena… I could not believe my ears. So different to everything else and experimental. Incredible album!
This album is slowly growing on me there’s a few songs I don’t like but songs like Hyaena, telekinesis, lost forever, etc have great production and performances. BTW does anyone know which parts Alc produced on Lost Forever is it just the opening sample?
So many crazy production tricks he used. Some of which i was already using or planning to use. Stem splitting is a no-brainer. I thought you would bring up how he's been using AI to manipulate some of the popular vocal samples.
I gotta say wow. this is awesome seeing some of these tracks broken down is unreal and the beat u created with the trav influence that shit is The Shit.
Utopia gave everyone that's actually creative hope to be creatives again and still feel you can make it. We no longer we have to feel we need to be cookie cutter to have a fighting chance any more.
I like that perspective. It's cool to see risks taken at such a high level
Bro, yes 🙏I felt the same way. Be authentic and unique 🔥 what an amazing thing to take away from Utopia

listening to them it's crazy how good the mixing on the album is too, to make them sound so clear and punchy

That’s why the album so goated cuz it ties the past with the present and future not only with the sound but with Travis’s career progression
The rhythm of the percussion in lost forever is very common in west african music.

This album was inspired by Yeezus so yet again Kanye has been inspiring with his projects that he released more than 10 years ago

Nice job on that beat you made at the end of the video, sounds really unique. Appreicate you Navie!
Reminds me of early kid cudi beats. Utopia def gonna be a gem years down the road

So glad you're talking ab this! ngl hearing the album I immediatly thought of Kanye's production.

never thought id see benzema talk about travis xD, but the video is great! really really enjoyed it and have implemented stuff into my own tracks!!!!
awesome video and great look into the very under-appreciated production and drums of the best album from last year
I just love the fact that Travis Scott sampled a song from my country Zambia 🇿🇲 on Sirens. 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for this one bro. I‘m really impressed on how you made your own beat, like fr. One of the best Utopia type beats I‘ve heard.
Using space in music like this is the reason I always felt Linkin Park was so good. So much little details and the variety of it is amazing.
What's wild is that I used many of these techniques on my last project with just my MPC.
Thank you bro, you make this so easy to learn 💪
Ayy awesome man

Anyway nice video bro 🔥
I’ve actually tried this type of sampling (although not as good) and it’s kind of fun. You get rearrange every element of the original sample
The sample splicing reminds me of 9th Wonder’s style who learned from Pete Rock which although he did do the same, 9th took it farther.
