My thoughts are that E. Gadd isn't directly bad, but rather is somewhat like the Rani from classic Doctor Who. A scientist whose thirst for knowledge and curiosity sometimes surpasses moral standards. He's not necessarily evil, but rather lacks empathy and struggles to see the impact his experiments can have on others.
Is it possible that Bowser Jr. tricked E. Gadd into using the paintbrush? I mean, if a kid went up to E. Gadd and told him he has his momma stolen by a madman, I can see E. Gadd deciding to help in someway.
I think E Gadd has good intentions but being the old man he is, has his mind slip sometimes. We don't really know if Bowser Jr's shadow mario mask was made by E Gadd, so it could've been that being disguised as Shadow Mario, E Gadd mistook him for the actual Mario and gave him the paintbrush. Realizing his mistake, he could've sent F.L.U.D.D. to Isle Delfino after seeing what happened and continuing to work on different nozzles to send later.
Let's not forget... In Dark Moon, he has the technology to hack into Luigi's television and display a message, supervillain style. And then uses the Pixelator on the guy as he tries to run away as well. And forgets about his assistants throughout the game... That doesn't quite seem evil, but it does seem like it fits the theory. That he wants to 'experiment' on people, regardless of the possible costs.
I also find him to be a chaotic neutral. It almost seems that in his eyes, he’s just doing experiments that will eventually end up working out at the end of things. While he can do questionable things at times, he never just lets things spiral out of control without some way of fixing things. Like... Why would he make the portrait machine allow paintings to be given life? or why would he make FLUDD if he was just fine with the paintbrush’s being used as a weapon? He doesn’t just let all things get too out of control, but he does very much fall to the chaotic and questionable side of things...
2:05-It was confirmed that E. Gadd gave Bowser Jr. the magic brush because he thought he was Mario, hense his Shadow Mario disguise. So it was all a misunderstanding.
I wouldn't say he's evil, yeah, but he's not all that good either. In Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, he just left a few Toads in some of the Mansions to their fate (forgetting about them), even actually saying "It must be terrible working for me."
YARGGG_GG E Gadd said they didn’t have much time to get out of there it was a sudden ambush by the ghost and yeah he didn’t equip them well in case for an ambush but e gadd is an old man and there could be some slip ups bc he is an old man
@@johanlopez7507 tbf, the Evershade Valley ghosts were good guys, and they were assisting them very well, so probably the protection were the ghosts themselves, so when King Boo destroyed the Dark Moon, it was like hijacking the security system of a hi tech automated house, turning it against those it’s meant to protect
What are your thoughts on Elvin Gadd? Do you think at his core he's evil, neutral, or good? Also, if you liked this video, consider giving it a like and sharing it with your friends. I appreciate your support in helping this channel grow!
The great thing I love about your channel is the fact you don't nessicairly call a video "your theory", you make it a discussion. Making people think more and cementing an idea rather then people saying your wrong for a majority of the comments. Also great job on this video, I would have never seen Egad this way as a character. This puts a different perspective on him, knowing more of his morals and the such.
E. Gadd could possible be using Luigi for his own bidding to capture ghost because he is old but that still doesn't mean capture or transport something or someone that doesn't want to be captured or transported.
I think E. Gadd may be neutral. In Dark Moon, when Luigi went missing, the man saw his life doing from bad to worse. And it's true that his morals may be... odd. I think he has a mad scientist inside of him ... and he may be sometimes danger to his friends ... and to himself.
HEY INTERNENT LISTEN UP!!!! In the instruction manual to the game of Luigi’s mansion he says that most of these portrait ghosts were paintings to begin with and even madame clairvoya references that by saying she enjoyed her comfort in oils and prof. E.gadd likely didn’t give it to him he likely stole it because he knows that since bowser tried to killed Luigi and all the characters are aware that bowser is a bad dude to him too but bowser jr is likely saying “gave” because as the brat he is made out to be he is likely meant to say gave as a sort of childish lie because a brat would obviously say “gave” to not get in trouble. So yeah.
In old e3 videos and demos for luigi's mansion, they called him the suspicous doctor. Do you think in the beta of luigi's mansion, E. Gadd was supposed to be the antagonist at the end?
Maybe it was an accident. Bowser jr could of convinced him that he needed the brush to save Peach and when he found out about his mistake and who he just gave his powerful brush to he had F.L.U.D.D sent to Mario to stop him. I dont think E Gadd is a bad guy

So my knowledge of mario theories is basic at best, but I've heard about Egadd's. . .intentions and I have a theory related to the sunshine point. He double deals. He first needs funding and sells a creation to a bad guy for high price. The catch is that he built in a weakness to the weapons he sells. Then, with his new fundings, he donates to the hero the tool needed to exploit the bad guys weakness and ensure that his creations don't go out of control. Just like how the paintbrush is apparently weak to a power wash simulator.
I wouldn't say evil, just careless and possibly a bit absent minded. You can be incredibly science-smart but then have a rather uh, ditzy personality in other areas of knowledge.

Also, with the paintings, the only reason I tried to rid myself of them was because they were beginning to move around and the like, and so I was trying to get them as far away from each other as possible... Heh, I guess a garage sale wasn't the best choice... Also, while it does seem to make sense about the ghost gown coincidence, that was my attempt to try and see ghosts a bit more clearly. Given as they are invisible during the day and when you look at them at night. Those gallery ghosts? They originally were paintings (back in my "morbid artist days", mind you), but King Boo & co. managed to turn them into real ghosts, and so I had to recapture them back, where the player comes in in Luigi's Mansion.
If Mario Sunshine was an experiment how unlikely could it be that just about everything else he's involved with is too. E Gadd wanted too test his ghost related tech. E Gadd sets up controlled experiments, and has Luigi test his equipment.
also in dark moon E gadd also admits he took a nap while u r out on a parolis journey through a haunted mansion that could possibly make u faint and when u get back from the mission "tree topping" he says, "Sorry if it smells like popcorn in here, with the big fight going on I just had to have some," which means that E. Gadd is transforming u going on suicide missions into entertainment and only a monster would do that.
i really like your vids swanky you realy deserve More subs than you have because this is very good content it really makes you think Back at the Games we played as a Kid Keep up the good from greetings your fans from the netherlands
I'd say Chaotic Good; It's possible that E.Gadd MAY have a Hero Complex; or is Senile(he Could've given it to Bowser junior BELIEVING his story of righteousness, since at the End of the Game, Bowser Jr reveals that He KNEW that Peach ISN'T his Mother, and that he wants to fight that Mario again); or He Could be VERY Stupid(He PUT A Button to Release the Boos out of the Boo Canister in the Vault; which either means there will be a Sequel to Dark Moon, or that He's a B100dy Idiot)
I heard that E Gadd. was supposed to originally be a ghost in Luigi's Mansion. He was planned to be the final boss, and the guy who trapped Mario in the painting due to a grudge against Mario. I don't know if this was true, but I heard about it.
I think it's not so much that he's evil, so much that he's beginning to go senile. He's absent-minded, scatter-brained, and fails to consider the consequences of his actions, especially in relation to other people, thanks to being hyper-fixated on his research and inventions. I think a lot of this could be counter-acted by getting him an in-house caretaker. You could probably accomplish this by framing the idea as hiring another 'assistant' for him. Maybe someone like Daisy?
He probably list his glasses and ACCIDENTALLY gave it to bowser jr where he thought it was mario or luigi cause you know he can't see without his glasses
E.Gadd gave the brush to Jr either A: He thought that Jr was Mario since he had the mask B: (Bowser and) Jr threatened the Prof to give him the brush, which can also explain why F.L.U.D.D was specifically created to assist Mario to clean up the Paint. C: He didnt have enough imagination to make the brush work and he thought it was useless, giving it to Jr as a "Harmless Toy" and when realising his mistake, he created F.L.U.D.D
Karasta TheKingOfTheives This is a common theory and they both happened to find it since they're "theory" based channels. They just found it at different times and gave their own interpretation. 🤔🤔
If I had a paint brush, I'd just create a bunch of mystical locations and creatures to sort of make the world seem slightly cooler. I'd also summon a demonic rapping dog.
I think E. Gadd is likely Chaotic Good, since he often TRIES to help others. But, he's very on the edge of alignment there, and he doesn't exactly think of ANY of the consequences of his experiments. Sure, he tries to help others, but it's like he doesn't have any empathy towards those his experiments effect, despite his good intentions.
I think he is chaotic neutral, in dark moon in the 5 boss mission, e gad stated this to Luigi "Look, Luigi. If you...uh...don't ever come back. Just know... Just know that I'm very proud of you, my boy. Very proud. *sniff* Good luck, youngster." This show at least E Gadd cares about Luigi and in the cutscene where Luigi doesn't come back, E Gadd is in complete shock, and the type that someone you care for is dead
Alixandre Fernandes He's basically an evil Egadd with robots, airships, mind control devices, and lots of riches at his disposal. His entire goal in the main game featuring him was to release an alien weapon that could destroy the entire planet... because he just had to know what it did. He's nuts. he's a genius, and he managed to defeat Bowser by making food so addictive that he got ridiculously fat and fell into the concrete floor. Meanwhile Bowser's entire army decides to serve him... because he gave them a 10% wage increase and several chances to laugh at their ex-boss metaphorically tripping over his own tail. XD
E gas might be colorblind ( it is hinted in dark moon in the level double trouble ) and who said the Mario disguise was given to bowser junior by him. Maybe he thought that bowser junior was mario
E. Gadd is a Scientist so expect from him that all he did was for the sake of his experiments, to test his inventions in the hand of other people. Also in Luigi's Mansion maybe he had to turn all the ghosts back into paintings because they belonged originally to his portraits and what if those ghosts were somehow unleashed from the portraits to be freed from it and build their own World which is the Mansion that appeared recently. So for the Mansion to disappear and to rescue Mario the ghosts have to return to their portraits.
Maybe his morals were different when he was younger... He's only appeared as an older man- Which when getting can change you're thought process and make him seem kind warm-hearted and quirky with awkward aged personality. Sorta like dementia?...
Theorists of Undertale: let's find out who gaster is. Swanky and some other theorists of the Mario franchise: we know e-gadd is another Mario Character, But let's make a Mindblowing theory to say that we do not know as much as we think about him anyways.
HE IS BECAUSE HE SAID THAT HE HAS BEEN STUDYING GHOSTS FOR 20 YEARS BUT HOW WHEN THE MANSION APPEARED JUST A COUPLE DAYS AGO?! AND MARIO CANNOT BE TRAPPED INTO THE PAINTING BECAUSE THE BOOS WERE RELEASED WHEN LUIGI RELEASED THEM AND E GADD WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE MANSION SO IT WAS E GAD.
I'm pretty sure that for the Bowser Jr. bit, he just didn't know Bowser Jr. was an enemy of Mario and Luigi, since he's most likely never seen or met Bowser.
I'm fairly certain the idea with the paintbrush is that Bowser Jr. stole it. Cause like...he's a bratty kid. He likely stole the brush from the old man at Bowser's order, and when questioned about it he lies just like a normal brat would, by saying he "was given the brush" instead of admitting to stealing. E. Gadd probably made the brush just as a simple experiment and Bowser Jr. took it. Even when I was a kid I assumed that was the case by the way Jr. delivered the line.
In Super Mario Sunshine, F.L.U.D.D states it was purchased. If E. Gadd gave B Jr. the brush, and then SOLD F.L.U.D.D to mario or another person (Peach perhaps?) to counter the brush.
E-Gadd could easily be someone who is Creating the Chaos so he can sit back and eat popcorn while chaos spreads I mean isint Seeing a plumber chase his dopple ganger while spraying it fun to watch?
As for the Luigi's Mansion series, E.Gadd is an old Man, so he is most likely to forget about things (Including the Toads on their mission and the Shroob invasion that happened long ago) and he does seem to be a Mad Scientist, so he tends to risk anything for his researches. As for the paintings, whatever he did seemed to be wrong but, what if he ACCIDENTALLY brought the lifeless paintings to life in the first place and is trying to REVERSE the effect in Luigi's mansion? Sure, These ghosts may have descriptions of their life and death and seem to live in the mansion, but what if they are just DRAWN versions of the residents of the mansion from centuries ago before it was brought down, since the current Mansion is just an "illusion"? Madame Clairvoya also seems to back this up since she claimed that she "missed the oils from her Painting" and was willing for Luigi to put her back to it, but the other portrait ghosts could have been enraged by the fact that they were brought to life, only to get it taken away in a small amount of time... Also, the portrait ghosts do seem out of place for humans of the current mushroom world so... Yeah, I guess E.Gadd had a passable reason to turn them BACK into paintings...(doesn't mean that it was the right thing to do though...)
He doesn't strike me as evil, or even good for that matter, he seems to me to be largely amoral, a character whose pursuit of knowledge often disregards what we understand to be basic ethics. He embodies the famous quote from Jurassic Park, of being preoccupied with whether or not he can do something that he doesn't often stop to think of whether or not he should. A subtype of the mad scientist archetype. Like any scientist, he seeks to improve his knowledge, and arguably he probably thinks that his inventions *can* improve people's lives. But, again, like the mad scientist archetype, he often rushes ahead with his experiments first and foremost and thinks of the potential consequences later.
Then why did E. Gadd leave the Fludd for Mario?
Yay bowser Jr. can do that.
The Film Theory showed a lot more evidence showing that E gadd is like a greedy war profiteer serving/benefitting both sides because he is evil
Bowser Jr could have been dressed up as mario, after all he can turn into him. And he could've tricked him that way!
@@sophiaparisi8988 it could be e. gadd left it there and forgot about it (just my guess)

also in dark moon E gadd also admits he took a nap while u r out on a parolis journey through a haunted mansion that could possibly make u faint and when u get back from the mission "tree topping" he says, "Sorry if it smells like popcorn in here, with the big fight going on I just had to have some," which means that E.
You ruined my childhood
I think it's not so much that he's evil, so much that he's beginning to go senile. He's absent-minded, scatter-brained, and fails to consider the consequences of his actions, especially in relation to other people, thanks to being hyper-fixated on his research and inventions. I think a lot of this could be counter-acted by getting him an in-house caretaker. You could probably accomplish this by framing the idea as hiring another 'assistant' for him. Maybe someone like Daisy?
Plot twist. The portrait ghost weren't ever really human but we're the creations of the magic paintbrush.
He probably list his glasses and ACCIDENTALLY gave it to bowser jr where he thought it was mario or luigi cause you know he can't see without his glasses
E.Gadd gave the brush to Jr either
A: He thought that Jr was Mario since he had the mask
B: (Bowser and) Jr threatened the Prof to give him the brush, which can also explain why F.L.U.D.D was specifically created to assist Mario to clean up the Paint.
C: He didnt have enough imagination to make the brush work and he thought it was useless, giving it to Jr as a "Harmless Toy" and when realising his mistake, he created F.L.U.D.D
I think he's chaotic neutral.
He's just an old man that is partially blind, no wonder he gave Jr. the paintbrush.
Why did game theory steal this?
Karasta TheKingOfTheives This is a common theory and they both happened to find it since they're "theory" based channels. They just found it at different times and gave their own interpretation. 🤔🤔
Top 10 saddest anime betrayal
If I had a paint brush, I'd just create a bunch of mystical locations and creatures to sort of make the world seem slightly cooler. I'd also summon a demonic rapping dog.
0:14 Gadd runs like naruto
I'm in love with your videos
0:14 E. Gadd is Naruto running
I think he is just a inventor, oblivious to what he's making could be used for
I think the e gadd's logo on bowser's jr paintbrush is just a way to advertise the last Mario game made at the time.
But then Bowser Jr would just say he stole it...
I think he is chaotic neutral, in dark moon in the 5 boss mission, e gad stated this to Luigi
"Look, Luigi. If you...uh...don't ever come back.
Just know...
Just know that I'm very proud of you, my boy. Very proud. *sniff*
Good luck, youngster."
This show at least E Gadd cares about Luigi and in the cutscene where Luigi doesn't come back, E Gadd is in complete shock, and the type that someone you care for is dead
I'm pretty sure everyone had a crush on E Gadd. I mean look at him 100% bangable
if i had a paintbrush that could altar reality i'd make friends for myself
I think that E-Gadd is definitely oblivious to mushroom kingdom politics, and the idea of who the good guys and bad guys are
It could be so cool if Nintendo made a "mario" game where professor E. Gadd is the Ultimate Villain.
Nah, they already have fawful for that job
I don't know who Fawful is, but I've seen that name before somewhere.
Alixandre Fernandes
He's basically an evil Egadd with robots, airships, mind control devices, and lots of riches at his disposal.
HES A VILLIAN AT HEART YEAH! --Plays relevant music--
if I had a magic brush I would use it for teleporting to my fave places!
I don't know if you thought of this but maybe he gave everybody some ghost cloaks and tricked everybody to thinking they are evil ghosts
I'm pretty sure FLUDD was ordered by someone on the island before Mario even arrived to clean up the graffiti
maybe the paint brush is what created the portraits, seeing that the brush can create things from paint
Is it possible that the theory that this game is a show means that E. Gadd simply provided props to help?
He's only appeared as an older man-
Which when getting can change you're thought process and make him seem kind warm-hearted and quirky with awkward aged personality.
Sorta like dementia?...
Theorists of Undertale: let's find out who gaster is.
Swanky and some other theorists of the Mario franchise: we know e-gadd is another Mario Character, But let's make a Mindblowing theory to say that we do not know as much as we think about him anyways.
i know he was ur inspiration but game theory did the same vid. On the other hand i still luv ur vids so good job
Colin Hockey This video was made BEFORE game theory’s video on the situation
Doctor E.vil?
Actually, I think Bowser Jr. was merely in his Shadow Mario form, fooling E. Gadd.
the thumbnail for the vid looks like a creepy pasta
SOMEONE NEEDS TO MAKE DAT!
you earned a subscriber! :)
A magical paintbrush that can alter reality....I never thought about it like that before. What kinds of things would I do with it...?
hmm, pretty convincing. Your a good theorist.
3:52 look behind him Mario sunshine but I still think this is before Mario sunshine
Bowser Jr disguised himself as Mario to get the brush enough said.
That was comfrimed in prima's mario sunshine strategy guide
With the brush I would paint thanos so he could snap me out of existence...
In Super Mario Sunshine, F.L.U.D.D states it was purchased. If E. Gadd gave B Jr. the brush, and then SOLD F.L.U.D.D to mario or another person (Peach perhaps?) to counter the brush.
The ‘E’ in Professor E. Gadd’s name stands for Elvin (Aka his first name). But if you rearrange the letters and get rid of the ‘n’, it’ll spell ‘Evil’
I also think that Luigi’s view on ghost is very screwed up. He see’s them as monsters rather than people who used to be alive
Remember how everyone in the city in super Mario sunshine thought bowser jr was Mario? Well, what if E. Gadd thought he was Mario too?
E-Gadd could easily be someone who is Creating the Chaos so he can sit back and eat popcorn while chaos spreads
I mean isint Seeing a plumber chase his dopple ganger while spraying it fun to watch?
The truth is Luigi has been stealing and laundering money in abandoned mansions for E.gadd
Dang, those are basically all the thoughts I had myself.
It would be pretty interesting if E. Gadd becomes a suprised villain in the new Luigi Mansion game on the Switch
BlackHakumen plot twist
But at the end of sunshine, Jr says he knows peach isn't his mama. I think he stole the brush. How could Jr even come into contact with E Gadd?
