@@ujfuentes1 Been there. Pre-pandemic and a bit younger. It lead to some interesting sociological observations, but not anything substantive relationship-wise.
In high school, I turned a guy down for a date and he started asking me every day and then on our socials so I started blocking him on everything. Everytime I blocked him, he would make another account, I ended up with 7/8 accounts of his blocked just on Insta. It finally stopped when he went to jail for sexual assault. Dodged a bullet on that one 😅
Well.. A guy tried a pick up line on me, but really messed up XD he wanted to say "Did it hurt when you fell from heaven? Because you have the face of an angel" what he actually said was "Hey little Angel, did you fall on your face?". To say the least, I was laughing my ass off and still laugh about it to this day

I’m not joking, is actually happened. 2 weeks after my 3 month old son died from sids, I ended up staying a hotel with my 5 year old daughter. I decided to call a cab to drop us off there. The cab driver was a short, pretty chubby middle eastern man who looked about 40-50. I was 24. Once we got to the hotel, my daughter ran to the door but as I was getting out and gathering my stuff, he stopped me and said, “I know you.” And I was like”...wha??” And he was like “I picked you up from here a while ago.” And I was like “no you didn’t, this is my first time here” and he said something to the effect of “don’t lie, I know you naughty.” And some other VERY suggestive comments. I stood my ground, paid him and got out, and the he GETS OUT OF THE CAR and puts his arms on the hood and door of the taxi and THRUSTS his pelvic forward and when I didn’t say anything, he looked very confused. I walked away and didn’t turn back around so I assume he left.
My guess, he picked up some prostitute at the hotel I was at and she paid for the taxi ride in sexual favors lol. Either way, so creepy. I called the cab company and they basically didn’t believe me and said, we’ve never gotten a complaint about him like that. And I just kept saying, “yeah that’s because he CLEARLY thought I was someone else.” So creepy. And with my daughter in the car. Weeks after I lost my son. So traumatic

I can relate to the thing with the Uber driver.
I’m a chatty person, and sometimes I find that the person I’m talking to is acting as if I might have an interest in them other than conversation.
Many times I find people hungry for conversation, especially because I take an interest in whatever they are talking about.
I think that there are a lot of lonely people out there, and a lot of people looking for love.
To be honest, if I think someone is lonely, I will talk to them for an extended period of time.
Loneliness is an horrendous thing. I have seen it a lot over the years, especially with pensioners.
When I was younger I often worked in pensioners homes. I would always allow an extra hour or so to talk to them. Sometimes I was the only person that they had talked to in months.
It might be an hour of my time, but it was a highlight for them. Another human had noticed that they existed, and gave them time. It meant so much to them.
Many of them had experienced a lot in their lives.
Talk is good, although there is nowhere near enough of it in this world.
A cuppa and a chat, is one of the most wonderful things that we can do.
Aww that's lovely! And you are so right! I worked in a shop and older people would start chatting which was hard when it was busy and short staffed because you just know they're lonely and wanting conversation. Such a shame

Ahhh the Uber story reminded me of this (but in reverse). I used to work at Best Buy in the geek squad, so of course it was my job to be really nice to all the customers. I had someone put a Craigslist ad up on missed connections about me because I talked to him about video games while helping with his computer. People don’t understand what being a service worker means lol
As someone who is commonly single (especially on Valentine’s Day), I like to take the day to appreciate all the amazing kinds of love that don’t involve romance. Take some time to make your family feel loved , make your friends feel loved, and as Charlotte said, make sure to take some time for yourself and make you feel loved! There are lots of beautiful kinds of love aside from just romantic love, so take time to appreciate all the love in your life, not just the love of a partner or spouse (but if you got one of those, make sure they get lots of love too!) 💛💛💛

I once took a girl out and mid date she got super rude out of nowhere after ordering crazy things including drinks that each costed more than a normal meal.
The check came and she lost her shit when I told the server to bring us individual bills and since we met up at the place, she was driving herself home which allowed me to escape and leave her to be another person's problem.
The funniest part of that whole thing after she was told to pay her own bill was her literally saying loud enough for other people to hear "I know so many other guys who would be willing to pay for my dinner" and I said with my back turned as I walked away "call one of them to pick up the tab then". Only when I got in the car did I realize "wow dis bish really said that in a packed place" and I laughed for a good 4 minutes straight before I started up the car and left.

There's nothing more badass than insulting someone while walking away and never turning around to see the look on their face. It's like walking away from an explosion kind of badass.
First dates should always be dutch anyway. I like to pay for my own meal, getting to know someone doesn't require them buying me stuff. Unless otherwise specified, one should always assume they are going to pay for themselves.
On first dates I expect the man to pay, I think it is cute that he will. But I straight tell them "I am expecting you to pay, if that is ok". I was never refused. But I also never order anything out of the ordinary. That is just stupid to abuse someone's kindness. I never order anything I couldn't pay myself in case he decided to not pay (or couldn't) after all.
On later dates I pay for the whole meal, and I tell them that in advance. The fact that neither of us abuses the kindness of the other is good grounds for more dates.

Jesus the level of conceit... Let me help you understand this phenomena. Some people are enjoying life and are looking to have fun experiences, others are not. When fun people feel a "fun" vibe they may be interested in actually having an adventure this may include sex. For some reason girls make it about them and not the experience. Not much less attractive in a personality than being self absorbed to men.

I had the BUS driver hit on me once. This guy was easily twice my age, if not more, and when I was trying to buy my ticket to get home, he was like "I've seen you coming home on this bus a lot (he'd literally been the driver twice before and I got it every night) and you look so lonely. A nice girl like you should have someone."
I told him I didn't give my number to strangers, hoping that would be a clear enough no. Instead he said "well why don't we go out for coffee or dinner and then I won't be a stranger." I still don't have my ticket at this point. I said I was really busy (not untrue) and didn't have the money (also not untrue). He said "a pretty girl like you shouldn't have to pay for anything." I was getting really creeped out, and luckily the guy behind me told him to knock it off and "just give her the damn ticket".
Avoided that bus for a good couple of weeks afterwards, and used the other, more expensive one, just to avoid seeing him.
That intro was pure gold. 10/10 comedy.

I just remembered a time when on Halloween I posed with a mannequin dressed like Freddy Kruger and I posted on Instagram and the caption said something like "my new boyfriend." And my now ex-husband got so mad and accused me of cheating on him.

my fail was that I spent a lot of effort avoiding giving positive signals to a friend I wasn't attracted to. he asked me out because he was sure he was getting signals form me for a year. I posted a picture of me and my boyfriend saying I missed him and had 4/5 guys sending thirsty dms wanting to talk to me, 1 wanted to roleplay with me, and another went through my reels, said my picture made him into a ‘monster’ and one of my reels was of me at the beach with my feet in the water, normal basic beach picture I know, but this guy was also said he would suck on them all night long. 🤣 The Uber driver one reminds me of a time when two movers helped me move my belongings from storage. I paid them. All was good and they left. Then about an hour later the driver hit me up on my number that he got off of my information and straight up asked me "Hey I was just wondering, if you would be down to F***." I couldn't believe he actually thought I would do that. 😂

I think people are just lonely n not very good at asking for love n sometimes just being nice to them can make their day - there's a way to say no without being mean - like the guy above said a lot of girls also hit on Uber drivers n when they did it to me I always tried my best to be pleasant n let them leave feeling good about themselves with some kind of compliment

I had celebrated an early Galentimes Day with my bestie and her siblings. I spent an weekend with them, we had a blast. Tons of candy, movies and a hilarious Monopoly war. It was so much fun I can wait to go back soon!

When you mentioned sending/getting yourself flowers I remembered something I almost did in college. I was dating a guy and we shared a workspace on the painting studio It was basically a big cubicle. Wasn't too bad sharing with him. He really didn't pay me almost any attention (even outside of class). At one point I thought that I should send myself some roses and have them delivered to class with a card that said, "From your secret admirer." Cheesy, I know and possibly kind of manipulative to a point. He really didn't like my ex since he had a job that gave him 2 check (paycheck and commission check) and could financially afford a relationship. I really didn't care about money as I earned my own from a job I had and didn't need a boyfriend to take care of me. The only reason I ended up not sending myself the flowers was because my boyfriend painted with a blowtorch and I was sure he would set fire to them out of jealousy rather than take the hint of "someone else might be interested in your girl, so treat her right."

In college, I thought I was pretty obviously setting up a coffee date with a guy under the pretense of chatting about his study abroad experience because I was “interested” in going to the same country… Welp, he literally only talked about his study abroad experience the whole time, and then eventually was like, “I need to get back to studying, so…” in other words, asking me to leave. 😂 Several months later the same thing basically happened to my super cute and flirty friend with the same guy when she asked him to come over to work on some assignment, so at least then we could both feel like he was either just clueless or not into girls. 🤷🏻♀️

I always hated Valentines Day when I was a kid. We moved A LOT and I was always the new guy so when Valentines cards were going around, I'd usually never get any.
In two days, my hubby and I celebrate 18 years together. August 2020 was our 16th wedding anniversary!

I've been with my husband for 9 years today and we've been living with each other for 8 years. We stopped buying each other valentine's cards when we got each other the same one.
We used to make them, but we gave that up when my husband thought he was drawing a heart on a pedestal, but it looked a check of a lot more like a cock and balls. Not super romantic 😂
