I don’t mind nepo babies, so long as they
1. Genuinely want to be involved in show business and not take advantage of their connections just because they can.
2. They have actual talent.
3. They are modest about their connection, but are still honest
4. They don’t complain about having connections
I would add to #3 'and don't feel the need to apologize for their connections". Going into a business because of family or who you know is as old as civilization. Both succeeding and failing is just as old. Some will stay in the business only as long as a family member will give them jobs (looking at you Tori Spelling) while others will carve out a career for themselves after getting their first job thanks to family (Jeff and Beau Bridges, Ron Howard, Michael Douglas, Sofia Coppola (as a director, not actress), and many more). It doesn't bother me that people use connections to get jobs. Those with talent will stay and those without will fade away.

Sunny and Sadie Sandler really can act, and I'm looking forward to seeing them headline more projects in the feature, with or without their famous dad.
I thought Adam Sandler's daughters did such a great job in "You are so not invited to my Bat Mitzvah" It was definitely a good Sandler family project.
1:42 it’s always crazy how Maya is a perfect mix of both of her parents.

It’s not an Adam Sandler movie. In my opinion, it should be called a Sunny and Sadie Sandler movie because those two girls carried the movie. Adam was just along for the ride.
I think Michael Douglas (son of Kirk Douglas), Zoey Deutch (daughter of Lea Thompson), Kiefer Sutherland (son of Donald Sutherland), Charlie Sheen (son of Martin Sheen), Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal (children of director Steven Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner) and Lily Rose Depp (daughter of Johnny Depp), all deserve at least a shoutout on the honorable mentions list.
Charlie Sheen's brother is Emilio Estevez.

Lily Rose Depp has no good acting performance so far. She is young so I still give her the benefit of the doubt.
Maya Hawks played Jo in a BBC production of Little Women. I don’t think many people have seen that show, but I loved her in it!
Comedy clearly runs in the family, Dan is just as hilarious as his dad, Eugene, as is his sister, Sarah, who was Twyla in Schitt's Creek.
I can't stand Dan Levy. The show is okay but he is so irritating the whole time, trying so hard to be funny
The show is cute, but his dad's best friend Catherine O'Hara makes that show.

I don't mind nepo babies because honestly, as parents, we would do the same if we could.
Just as many Hollywood parents actively discourage their kids from going into the industry. They know how brutal it can be. If the kid really wants it, of course they will help them, BECAUSE they know how brutal it can be.

i didnt know john david washington was denzel's son until ballers was on tv. i took my eyes of the set to do something and i only heard his voice. he sounds EXACTLY like his father.
Interesting coincidence. I actually just watched, " You are so not invited to my Bat Mitzvah" tonight." I was impressed. I heard it was good but going in, I figured it might be an slightly better than average "girl learns important lesson trope" movie. I was pleasantly surprised. It is much better than average and I think Sunny and Sadie Sandler did a really good job.
Congratulations to the famous Jamie Lee Curtis for winning an Oscar for the first time in her life.
‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ became one of the best movies in 2022, and we ❤ it.

I believe Tracey Ross should have been on list. She had a hit show which was girlfriends and blackish. She is a beauty mogul for her patterns brand.

I loved Maya Hawke as one of the main characters in Wes Anderson's "Asteroid City". she was great. :)
They never mention Ron Howard who is the definition of a "nepo baby" His first job was on a film that was also his father's first acting job. Rance Howard got to the set and found out they needed a small child for a scene so he suggested that he bring his very young son. TPTB liked the idea so Ron got the part. There was something in him that casting directors saw so he continued to work regularly, then Andy Griffith came along and he became a star, eclipsing both of his acting parents.
Just putting out there Jack Quaid, have nothing but nice things to say about the guy hes an amazing guy, down to earth and appreciates the support

John Washington is the best in the list.. He came unknown but there are hints since he acted the same way as Denzel. Even the mannerism and voice takes the cake.
i looked away from the screen and all i heard was dad. denzel's inflection alone, could carry a script. if john could emulate any of that he'll do very well in the industry.
The Boys is one of my favorites! Jack Quaid is absolutely perfect for the role of Hughie. And Karl Urban can do no wrong.

Funny that the last film featured in this clip featured another performance by a nepo baby. Chris Pine, who played one of Princess Mia's would-be suitors, is the son of actor Robert Pine, best known for his role as Sgt. Joe Getraer on the 1977-83 TV series "CHiPs."
Of course, Chris has forged his own career since the 2005 sequel to "The Princess Diaries". He portrayed James T. Kirk in JJ Abrams' Star Trek trilogy and appeared as Steve Trevor in the two Wonder Woman films opposite Gal Gadot.
What about scott eastwood? While he made cameos in eastwood films, he sold me in The Longest Ride.

There are so many children of famous people who tried their hands in their parents' business and failed simply because of the audience's expectations.
The younger surviving son of Mozart was a composer, for example. And by no means a bad one. But nobody, really nobody can live up to Wolfgang Mozart, so of course Wolfgang Junior was disregarded as basically the lesser Mozart.

I think a lot of people are misunderstanding this video. This is a list of surprising performance by people who are considered "Nepo Babies". Listing your favorite Nepo Baby without the surprisingly great performance is moot.
Schist’s Creek isn’t nepotism Dan and Eugene worked together on the show from the start because it was their idea. It was not because of nepotism. I know Eugene’s daughter played Twyla but she would have had to auditioned too and it was not a major character. They could have had her play Alexis but they did not.

I'm not familiar with a couple of these. But, the rest I know that they've worked their butt off and paid their dues. They may have a slight leg up from (perhaps) being on set with their parent (s) and seeing how actors approach their characters. Two nepo's that you missed Carrie Fisher and her daughter Billie Lourd.
Why isn't my name on this list? But then again, my last name is not Redford so why should it be on this list.
The best ones are the actors/actresses that we don't even think of as having famous parents. Like Tracey Ellis Ross, and Nicholas Cage careers are almost completely detached from their famous lineage

Nepotism is when you're hired because of family connections which most of these are not especially Nicolas Cage. Most of these actors don't take advantage of their connections. Most of them are hard working, talented actors who deserve accolades for their success. Bryce Dallas Howard is probably the best example of nepotism here. She used her dad's clout to get a job she had previously passed over cuz she felt it was beneath her but once she saw the roles success she stole it from someone else. It helped catapult her further success. The Help has been her only truly well done role. She's not very talented. Angelina Jolie should have been number one on here not just a mention. She went from socialite baby to successful star using her parents names to climb that ladder. I'm not a huge fan of hers but she's a great actress.
The simple fact that they are part of the famous/influencial family is enough. Everyone who has ever casted Nicolas Cage knew he belongs to the Coppola family. Do you truly believe that didn't care?

John Washington has a lot of mannerisms similar to his father. If i didnt know any better you could have replaced his roll with John Q, Malcom X, Private Trip into his rolls.
But the head start these nepo kids get, destroys chances for good actors trying to break in. I wrote a screenplay and no one would open the envelope for legal reasons. I wonder if JJ Abrams had that problem with his two screenwriter parents.

In my humble opinion, if they have true talent and knowledge to help themselves stand on their own as a performer...not every actor, writer or director who has a celebrity parent/aunt/uncle/grandparent deserves to be labeled as a nepo baby for the rest of their life if they can be known for something greater than just being related to a different actor. That is why I reminded Lea Thompson at the 2023 Chicago Fan Expo to write and direct more movies that do not have Zoey or Madelyn in them. 😉
I will admit, I am concerned as to why Dan Povenmire thought Melissa Povenmire's voice for Gretel was a better fit than any other girl her age who auditioned to play Gretel's voice in Hamster and Gretel. In Dan's defense, he has past experience making two other animated shows for Disney Channel where he had other casting connections with professional child actors who were not from his own family, and he did not just throw his own daughters into any part of Phineas and Ferb or Milo Murphy's Law before they were ready for it. Who is to say Melissa Povenmire did not take acting lessons at the same schools for child actors that trained Vincent Martella, Sabrina Carpenter or Michael Cimino? Maybe they had plenty to teach Melissa from their own acting lessons. Do you think Melissa Povenmire never should have acted in Hamster and Gretel?
It was always "went into the family business" until recently. "Nepo baby" is a recent term coined by influencers who want to become models and actors and are pissed that people who already have connections get jobs before they do. It is meant to be denigrating and suggests that they only got in because of their connections and don't deserve their careers. Yes, some do only get in because of family and they fade away. Those with talent will have a career and some will even shine brighter than their family who came before.

Doesn't mean they are better or worse than anyone else, just luckier. Why should Hollywood be any different? This is not a new thing. People have been getting their relatives acting jobs since theater became legitimate in the 1600's.

People get jobs, college admission, and entry into any rarified aspect of society based on who they know. Deal with it and stop spending useless energy railing against how unfair life is, especially in an industry (I assume) you have no interest in going into yourself.

I actually wouldn't call Drew a nepo baby. Her father was estranged from the family and her mother was a nobody. Being a Barrymore gave her something to talk about in interviews, but I've never heard that any famous family members helped her get her start..
