    (Maybe for the next version, placing your cable splitters (peg board) between the streaming PC and the consoles would make your cable distribution more efficient and versatile. At the moment, your consoles and the streaming PC are on opposite sides making it a mess. )

      I wanted to get them closer to the PC, but as there’s a radiator and window covering the entire wall to the side I couldn’t do it, maybe if I re arrange I could have my desk at the back nearer the consoles and have shelves on the wall where my desk is now next time?

    Super impressive and complex setup to output all the options for capturing and recording. Interesting video to see all the efforts you’ve gone to.
    However, what if you want to play on your Wii? I’m guessing you could make use of option 3 for the composite cable switch? Or add in an extra for HDMI? Don’t miss the Wii out as that’s how we found your great channel!
    Thanks for the overview and all the time you must have taken to set it all up.
    For us at home we’ve had to develop a way to support different work laptops and then switch over to retro items afterwards. That’s ended up being multiple usb power cables, hdmi splitters and various tweaks to take composite to hdmi.

      @RetroBreak  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! I haven’t got round to hooking the wii up yet, but I think I would use component cables into the OSSC, as I don’t use them for the PS2 now I have a HDMI output on there :)

    Quite a tidy little setup you've got there, Nick, especially with that CRT.
    While yeah, I be one that'll note that the generic upscaler isn't great, as it treats 240p as 480i and tries to de-interlace the picture. However, it has its uses. its not too bad for games that swap resolution frequently and the de-interlace smear helps hide composite dot crawl.
    IIRC 15m without a powered relay is around the limit for HDMI.
    You'll need a multiformat Professial BVM/PVM CRT or VGA Monitor that can take 480p over BNC/VGA for the DreamCast. Consumer CRT don't support it.
    My setup
    RGB Consoles via SCART via 3 manual Bandridge 5-in-1-out switchers to Framemeister's Scart input (Switches A and B are plugged into 1st and 2nd slot of C to keep the runs as short as possible). Most of the SCART leads I were from Retro Gaming Cables.
    1 NES (RGB Modded PAL - I use the Framemeister's skewing tools to correct the aspect ratio)
    2 SNES (Modded with 50/60Hz Switch)
    3 N64 (PAL RGB Modded with Deblur - again Framemeister for aspect ratio correction)
    4 Game Cube (I use this more for GB, GBC and GBA games using Game Boy Interface)
    5 Mega Drive 1 & 2 (modded with 50/60HZ switch)
    * Master System Converter (for playing on Mega Drive)
    6 Saturn (Japanese model with Action Replay for PAL games)
    7 Dreamcast (SCART that can switch between 240p/480p, no that's not a typo)
    8 Atari Jaguar (Modded for 60Hz)
    9 Original Xbox
    10 PlayStation 2 (Use to use component, but IMO the Scart worked better for me).
    11 Amiga 600
    12 ZX Spectrum
    13 Nothing as Yet, hoping to one day add a Duo R.
    Component Consoles - use a 3-in-1-out component switcher to Framemeister
    Wii (Use Swizz in gamecube mode to force GameCube games to 480p)
    PlayStation 3 (used to use HDMI, but swapped for High quality components by HD Retrovision)
    PSP 3000s
    HDMI - Go to a 5-in-1-out switcher, into Framemeister.
    Xbox 360/Xbox One/PlayStation 4/Switch
    My Wii U Goes into the second HDMI connection of the Framemeister, I use self-designed settings to clean up the mess that is the NES games on the system. While it not perfect, I got them looking much better considering what I had to work with.
    Framemeister receives the Scart, Component and HDMIs and feeds them to a 1-in-4-out HDMI Splitter (AV Receiver/Monitor 1/Monitor B/El Gato 60HD).

    Is there a reason you aren't using one?

  • @HyperTriggerEx
    @HyperTriggerEx 2 роки тому

    It’s a shame that the Koryuu Transcoder is no longer available as you could use that to add Composite and SVideo inputs to your OSSC.
    Though if the only system that is still outputting via composite is the NES, then an RGB maybe a good choice. I can say that the NES looks amazing in RGB and is well worth upgrading, I had mine done via Old Skool Consoles for £100.
    Great stuff Nick.

    • @RetroBreak
      @RetroBreak  2 роки тому +1

    • @RetroBreak
      @RetroBreak  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! Latency is fine when playing as it’s split into the screens before any processing happens, the colour balance is a bit off with the SCART connections though as that scart block with the switches gives everything a very slight warm tint. Not too hard to fix in editing software, but I’m hoping that new Hydra scart block will fix that!

    Hey, RetroBreak! As always, love your channel. I have a question that’s not technically related to this specific video (which was great btw) but it IS retro tech and connections-related, and you definitely know what your’e doing with an awesome, comples setup like that, man!
    My question is…what is the best way to get a Dreamcast controller to work on a PC? I’m able to find all kinds of Mayflash adapters (obviously the kind of thing I need), which people claim works with their DC controller, but DC is never listed as being supported and there’s certainly no port shaped correctly for it.
