Instant must-buy for me. I've never read these comics and thought I never would so this is a dream come true for me! ❤ Huge Godzilla fan since I first saw Destroy All Monsters on TV as a dinosaur-obsessed kid in the 80's
Cool. I would really like to see John Carter of Mars reprinted and the Battlestar Galactica series as an omnibus. BG was really a good read once Walt Simonson took over.
The Essential was what really got me into Godzilla full force. I'm so glad we are getting this collection, with the issues restored and released in the best possible quality.
Always wondered what this stuff was like thanks for the review, added to purchase list. Looks like a lot of silly fun! So great of Marvel to reprint these long out print books. I always hear about Shogun Warriors (never read it either) maybe they are next?
Surprised they didn't include the Iron Man issues where Dr. Demonicus mutates Godzilla and he continues to run around while avoiding a copyright infringement.
Also the David Micheline Avengers issues with Red Ronin would have been a nice inculsion. And the Web of Spider-Man annual where Art Adams draws New Mutant's Warlock in Godzilla form.
Or the mighty avengers first page spread with mole man female ultron as it shows godzilla has mutated back to his classic form hanging out with mole mans monsters before getting bored and leaving off panel.
I tend not to include "cheeky" references as official. Otherwise, there'd be an Omnibus worth of Clark Kent appearances in Marvel books. Hey Omar, there's an idea. The Marvel "Clark [Name Withheld] Omnibus"!
I remember owning the first 10 issues of this series for years before a buyer made me an offer. I’ve seen the entire series for sale at conventions and always way expensive. I’m glad this omnibus has finally come out so I can now own the entire series. Thank you for this review!
Hey Omar! So we've had Rom, Micronauts, Planet Of The Apes, and now Godzilla... what are the chances we could get Shogun Warriors too? Is that just too utterly out of reach and a rights nightmare? It was one of my favorite titles during this era and I don't it has ever seen ANY kind of reprint. An official omni would be sooooo amazing to have.
Yeah, I pre-ordered this the day it became available. Issue one cover for me. I own the originals of these, I got them back in the early 80s and picked up the essential when it came out. I never thought we would ever see this because of licensing from Toho. It’s funny I was in the process of sending my original copies in to be bounded into a hardcover and maybe a month before I was going to send them in this became available saving me my originals.
I have a very long history with the Marvel Godzilla comic. I was the perfect age of 8 when these started coming out, and I bought all 24 issues right off the spinner rack at my local 7-11. I loved them for many years and eventually had the set bound into a green hardcover. Fell upon some hard times a few years later and was forced to sell that hardbound childhood set. Bought the Essential when it came out , but never really was happy without the coloring, so I sold it and bought a "new" set of those 24 issues. Recently, I had all of those issues basically destroyed in a basement flood. So, yes, of course I will be buying this omnibus. I just haven't 100% decided on the cover just yet. Leaning toward the issue #4 cover, but it will be a "game time decision" for sure.
Issue 4 vsrient for sure. Wish issue 24 was used as a cover. This and Doom 2099 have been my most wanted Marvel books, so this is very exciting. Hell, half my UA-cam channel is about Godzilla Comics, so you know I'm pumped. I'll be very excited to compare the Black and White Essentials volume with this omni and my original issues all together.
Got mine today - thanks Amazon! I bought the original series (starting with issue #2) when I was 7 - the first comics I collected because I was crazy for Godzilla. I also got the Essentials TPB when it came out. This is a great series to learn about other Marvel characters, with the Champions, Avengers, FF and even Devil Dinosaur making an appearance. I can't wait to break out this new edition.
Super stoked for this book! I love these weird licensed Marvel Comics of the 70's and 80's. I'm not a huge Omni collector, but I'm definitely grabbing this and the Micronauts omnis sooner rather than later
I've got the Essential volume, and was tempted to upgrade to this, but since Rom and Micronauts are getting the Epic treatment, my preferred format, I'm thinking I'm going to risk a little longer wait. Also got a kick out of seeing a book I worked on on Omar's shelf in the BG there!
Love the original Trimpe Godzilla cover! Herb was a great guy and funny too. Loved red Ronin and #3. With Hercules/The champions vs Godzilla. Herc actually knocked Godzilla over! But the Hulk was no wear to be seen!!?? I was always disappointed Marvel never had King Kong in the series.
I bought a few of these from the 'dime' store spin rack when I was with my grandmother as a kid. I'm sure they don't hold up to well to these days but I'm getting it anyway.
A couple minor pronunciation notes: “Herb” isn’t pronounced like “erb”, but with the H sound; see Herbert Hoover. Also, it’s “wreak havoc”, not “wreck”.
Wreak havoc, not wreck havoc. Wreck havoc makes no sense. But yes, I will be buying this for some righteous havoc wreaking! As always, thanks for the overview.
Comictropes did a really good video on this series. IIRC it's probably because of the Hannah Barbera cartoon Godzilla that was popular in the US in the 80s but I might be misremembering
I’m assuming they will also do an Epic version eventually since I DIDN’T think they would do that with Rom & Micronauts and they’ve already been announced. But at 24 issues, it should be its own one & done and I’ll get that to have it in color.
Instant must-buy for me. I've never read these comics and thought I never would so this is a dream come true for me! ❤

Cool. I would really like to see John Carter of Mars reprinted and the Battlestar Galactica series as an omnibus. BG was really a good read once Walt Simonson took over.
I remember passing on this one in the Essential line. Not this time, Big G!
The Essential was what really got me into Godzilla full force.
I'm so glad we are getting this collection, with the issues restored and released in the best possible quality.

Hey Omar, there's an idea. The Marvel "Clark [Name Withheld] Omnibus"!
No no no no no no
You sold me on it. This looks fun. I'm thinking I might go with the white cover, it's beautiful.
I remember owning the first 10 issues of this series for years before a buyer made me an offer. I’ve seen the entire series for sale at conventions and always way expensive. I’m glad this omnibus has finally come out so I can now own the entire series. Thank you for this review!
I still have all the original issues! Loved it then and still love it today. Great 70s fun!
First read this one in essential format at my local library ten years ago and dreamed about reading this in color, can't wait!
One of my all-time most anticipated! Shogun Warriors next?
I preordered this bad boy. I wish it actually did retail for $25, though. I didn't even get the Devil Dinosaur Omni for that cheap, lol.
Yeah, I pre-ordered this the day it became available. Issue one cover for me. I own the originals of these, I got them back in the early 80s and picked up the essential when it came out. So, yes, of course I will be buying this omnibus. I just haven't 100% decided on the cover just yet. Leaning toward the issue #4 cover, but it will be a "game time decision" for sure.
This series was my introduction to the Marvel Universe. It and Shogun Warriors are what started my love affair with comics.
Issue 4 vsrient for sure. Wish issue 24 was used as a cover. This and Doom 2099 have been my most wanted Marvel books, so this is very exciting. I’m excited to see that this is coming out soon. I have to pick this one up! 💙👍🏼
This is WILD
It's awesome.

I've only got about 3 or 4 of those comics....so I'll definitely be getting one.
Hope you're having a good day
Godzilla!
Mosura!
Sore! Sore! Sore! Sore!
Go! Go! Go! Godzilla
Excited to get this, it looks silly and fun.
first step towards the Champions omni
Super stoked for this book! I love these weird licensed Marvel Comics of the 70's and 80's. I'm not a huge Omni collector, but I'm definitely grabbing this and the Micronauts omnis sooner rather than later

I got mine this came just in time i've always liked Godzilla i also got the issue 1 cover.
I can’t wait to get this! I still remember reading the Essential book years ago but I lost my copy.
Got the Trimpe War Cover gonna go between Devil Dino and Planet of Apes Omnis. Go-go Godzilla!
I hope I can cop one of these in time!
I love Collected ADDitions!😂😂
Looks fun and much better then I thought I’m in I’ll get it
Omar did ya said it retailed for $25 dollars?? 😂😂😂😂😂man that's way too cheap 😂😂😂
I think I did. This is the outcome of recording three videos a day.
I bought a few of these from the 'dime' store spin rack when I was with my grandmother as a kid. I'm sure they don't hold up to well to these days but I'm getting it anyway.
I like GODZILLA! 👍👍👍👍👍
I love Doug Monech work especially Master of Kung fu!!!
It was published from 1977-1979.
I'm excited about this book.. I hope I can either find the funds or possible Christmas gift
A couple minor pronunciation notes:
“Herb” isn’t pronounced like “erb”, but with the H sound; see Herbert Hoover.
Also, it’s “wreak havoc”, not “wreck”.
See other comments. But thank you.
Put Godzilla in the Secret Wars movie you cowards!
They can't
Dan Green got to ink John Byrne.
Dan Green doesn't get enough recognition! ❤
You thinking about the Wrecking Crew wreaking havoc arent' ya 😉
Always do!
Did he say $25? Not $125? I’ll go out and get this right now.
So is Shogun warriors on its way????
Mighty marvel masterworks iron man?
Is this the same Godzilla from the animated series or where they got the idea?
Wreak havoc, not wreck havoc. Wreck havoc makes no sense. But yes, I will be buying this for some righteous havoc wreaking! As always, thanks for the overview.
Wrecking crew baby!
Where’d you get this book for $25 ??!?!? I’ve only seen preorder for around $50 ?!?
It was a mistake. This is the outcome of recording three videos a day.
@@NearMintCondition all good Omar, love your videos !!
Dont need this, i have all 24 original issues 😂😂
Imma pass on this one. Will be picking up the minus one blu ray though.
Omar,did Cory restore this one?
Is there a story behind why Godzilla doesn't really look like Godzilla in these?
Comictropes did a really good video on this series. IIRC it's probably because of the Hannah Barbera cartoon Godzilla that was popular in the US in the 80s but I might be misremembering
Just one question, the story wraps up in the end, or ends on a cliffhanger?
It wraps up neatly. No cliffhanger
@@robertrichard7311thanks!
I really hope we get a Epic for this series. Otherwise I'll pass as too much to buy right now.:-)
Still looks great tho.
It is basically a hardback Epic Collection. The low page count means it will be easier to hold & read than most Omnis!
I’m assuming they will also do an Epic version eventually since I DIDN’T think they would do that with Rom & Micronauts and they’ve already been announced. But at 24 issues, it should be its own one & done and I’ll get that to have it in color.
Thats a thin omni...hope its not full omni price of $100+
They only had the rights for two years and had 24 issues.
Omar, sorry ahead of time if I sound like a jerk but is there a reason you say "erb" Trimpe? Thanks for the great videos as always!
Probably from my coworker I had and that’s how he pronounced it. This is also Kentucky though.
@@NearMintConditionThere are at least 2 comics youtubers who say "David Nak-ee-yama". 🤷♂️
I say ..Excelsiorrrrrr All!!!
I would love to get this but it's way overpriced.
Almost cost the same as a Conan omni, and those usually goes up to 900 pages.
