I hope we get vol.2 soon. Come on marvel, honor Perez!
👏👏👏
Yessss, I am getting this but need vol 2 as well :-)
💯 💯💯💯
@@seito1276 so you use the same UA-cam name as you do on discord?
@@fishin4bass2002, yes sir!
Back in my college years, I read Avengers Forever without knowing all the complex history. But it was all explained well and is where I learned much of that history. I had no trouble understanding the story.
Same here, I was never a big Avengers fan growing up and I read Forever in my early 20s with no problem.
Grabbed the standard cover today! This was the first avengers run I ever purchased for myself back in middle school. Can’t wait for vol 2!
The good thing about upgrading from my back issues of this run is that it came out when comics at the time were packed with all kinds of inserts, cards, pogs, AOL cds, etc. Drove me nuts, can't wait to get rid of them and get this omni!
Love this era. It was after Avengers Forever that I clocked out of comics for a bit.
I read this originally monthly at the time of release and honestly it feels as long as that since I've been waiting for this reprint - can't wait!
Thanks for the overview of the Avengers by Kurt Busek and George Pérez omnibus, Omar!!!!!!. I feel the sadness that we lost George Pérez and Carlos Pacheco too. I know it hurts. You did very good on the overview, Omar, and the community thanks you! Happy 2023 to you and your family, and all the minties around the world!!
Mine arrived on Xmas eve, and was so happy to have this.
I remember reading the floppies and found #3 being one of the hardest to get hold of
Only pereze can do a super team like this and keep the quality very high, and he designed one the sw gypsy outfit, a fav of mine.
I do hope we get to see vol 2 in 2023 and I hope that we will see his FF work in omni format as well.
Comics are not made like this today and i am glad i can reread them again.
Tha ks for the review. Excellent as usual
Can't wait, picking up mine tomorrow. I've been reading Avengers consistently since this amazing run.
Pérez is doing art no questions asked it’s A+ quality
Preordered it ages ago ! Cannot wait to get it !
Bring on Volume #2 ASAP Marvel !!!!!!
Even if you know nothing about Avengers before going into this, Kurt Busiek (especially in Avengers Forever) will make you feel like you know everything about the Avengers after you've read it!
Oooh, this goes through Ultron Unlimited! Nice. I have a few of these in single issues (packed far away) and a good chunk of the book in trades, but I'm getting this. Its probably my only guaranteed Marvel buy between the final Conan omnibus and the first CrossGen Omnibus.
Great overview again! This (and vol 2) are some of the last reprints I need
Another one of my picks from the reprint poll :-D Can't wait to get this to go with my volume 2
my picks from the reprint poll / Same !
Nice overview!
I am looking forward to this one and put in a pre-order a while back. I picked up a few issues early on of both the the Heroes Return Avengers and Avengers Forever, during the late 90s, but this was just as my waning interest and lack of funds started to hit and I had to make the choice of which to keep buying and which to part with... so now I can go back and revisit where I left off, finally.
Busiek and Perez did good to my boy Hawkeye!!!! You can tell that both of them really liked having Hawkeye on the Avengers. Avengers Forever is one of my favourites; I'm glad that it's apart of this omni. Such an all time classic - story wise and art wise!! Great extras included as well.
I’m just dying for an Avengers reading order.
Love this book. Got my copy yesterday. 😀
Man, between Busiek loading up the dialog and Perez loading up details and characters in the panels, those pages are DENSE. Looks pretty cool, the colours are unfortunately very late-90s gaudy, but I’m sure this will be great for Avengers superfans. Thanks for the review!
This Avengers series and Thunderbolts was my first real foray into the Marvel Universe outside of the X-Books which were becoming unreadable at the time. You couldn’t ask for a better team than Busiek and Perez.
I think I was about in the same boat at this poiterint, though about a year ahead of you. X-Books were not that good, checked out Heroes Reborn, which, while teenage me loved most of the art, teenage me also realized they weren't that good. And then Heroes Return happened and I gave the Avengers/FF related books a second chance and of all four this was by far my favorite
@@FreeLatveria I too checked out Heroes Reborn. Just the first couple issues of FF and first issue of Avengers, but pretty much had the same feeling you did. Generation X was the last X-book standing for me, but after Chris Bachalo left, I was also gone. When I heard about Busiek and Perez coming on board the Avengers, I started picking up a ton of Perez and Stern back issues as well as the Thunderbolts. Great times!
I've never actually read much of Kurt and George's run, so am really looking forward to picking this up shortly, it looks fantastic and full of goodies at the back. Plus it contains one of my favourite Avengers things in the superb Avengers Forever. Already have that in hardcover and I love that run (Genis Vell and Hank Pym front and centre).
Really wana try pick this up, great overview Omar🤟🏼
Love the comparison - thank you!
Thank you for watching.
Thank you Omar for adding your personal story. I often feel the same way when reading comics I read growing up. It always takes me back to what was going on in my life at the time. I have ordered the DM cover. Has there been an omni of the original Perez Avengers run? If not, would love to see that as a new omni.
Probably going to be one of my first omnibus buys this year :)
Love the new cover with the red backdrop! Great video review! Is there an Avengers omnibus that covers the Korvac saga from the Avengers #s in the 170s? Is there an Avengers omnibus that includes Byrne's pencils 164-166 and 181-191?
A great run. The only thing that didn't really work was focusing on second-string heroes like Triathlon and Silverclaw, and villains like Moses Magnum.
The other title to read is the Heroes Return Thor by Dan Jurgens. The Captain America and Iron Man reboots didn't work, but this was exceptional.
Hell yea I'm going to get this one 💪😁
The best Avengers lineup!
Great to hear it's being reperinted. It was as scarce as hen's teeth & cost just as much. US$125, hopefully won't translate to AU$200. Thsnks for the review, omar.
I have all these stories, in their first publication. Still thinking about buying this one. Now, I hope no one votes for #2 in February. Come on, obvious that it will be reprinted soon after.
Vol 1 only finished in 15th place on the 2021 poll. So it might be good to get Vol 2 in the top 20... reprints are never guaranteed even after the first volume gets reprinted. See: Silver Age Thor Vol 2 reprint that hasn't happened.
@@edwardmiguez6995 It didn't get high in the top because it sold well enough and people though, like I do, that sales alone would merit the reprint. Marvel looks often enough for the sales numbers, the pool should be for books that need the extra, imo. Unfortunately even adding with George's death and the publicity resulting. And that example, Thor wasn't a very good seller before (but seeing volume 4 coming out, things might have changed, I do need that number 2).
Now we need some Roger Stern Avengers Omnis! Let's gooooo!
Omar, volume 2 *needs* to include Avengers Infinity #1-4 since it features the team from the Avengers Maximum Security issue #35 if memory serves.
I want a reprint of the omnibus covering the Bendis era leading up to Hickman's run, stupid prices on the secondary market
I was gonna pass, as it wasn't my favorite era, but that art sold me. (And the new red spine!)
Great overview but I now feel like I need to buy this when I already have a large backlog that includes omnis! 😅
Omar, you need to make another video about why you like Kang Dynasty more than Ultron Unlimited and the stories with Alan Davis beforehand 😆
Is this a good omnibus for a beginner into the avengers world? Like is this anything we need to read prior to this?
I hope this will mean that they will reprint vol 2 as well, I always wanted to collect this run.
Also, do you think there is any hope for the Waid/Weiringo Fantastic Four omni being reprinted?
Volume 2 reprint please marvel. And Thor vol 2 by Aaron.
Cant wait to order this one....and the eventual vol 2 (crossed fingers). Keeping with the year of Avengers I even got The Crossing and Gathering from Raf. Do I need to buy a leather jacket now?
I did exactly the same thing with the gathering and crossing 👌
So excited to read Avengers Forever for the first time, but do I need to know the Avengers history to understand it?
This is of topic to the video, but does anyone know if there's any talk or expectation for DC to release Alan Moore's swamp thing in omnibus format?
Are u going to review the Grayson Superspy Omni anytime soon?
Man I was on the fence now I’m going to spend money lol 😂
Will the spines of Vol. 2 match the newest printings of Vol. 1, standard and DM versions? Please help, Omar.
Do you think the Hickvengers omnibus will keep getting pushed back?
Is this a good starting point to hop into “modern” avengers stories?
I think so , if you r as both volumes and the Geoff johns run as well. Then you can jump avengers dissembled which leads to new avengers
I liked your review and I saw this go to 50% off but I didn’t pounce on it, and it sold out at that price.
Darn :(
happy new year omar
i hope you and your family are doing great.
i have a question,i orded this book on the release day,got an email today
it was sold out, does marvel only print small amount of books?
i have missed out on so much lately because books sells out so fast,
it sucks i have waited 3 years for this book to get a reprint, because i already have vol 2 of this run.
and i missed my chance now.
its frustrating as a collector to miss out on books, even when i order on the release day.
Where did you order from? I still see places that have it in print.
@@NearMintCondition from my country,i cant order from other countries, cost to much in customs, online store in norway called outland,i have only 2 places to order from and both are sold out
@@NearMintCondition i found the book, one place and it was the last copy they had of the book.
Hey Omar I love your videos, I've been a subscriber for a while now and I was wondering if maybe you could do a comprehensive reading order of the entire Dc universe post-crisis in collected editions. I know this would probably take 278 parts 😂 but I'd be very interested to see your take on this
Also, I should mention I know you have done the video with all the dc crossover events but I'm talking about everything, not just the events. I know it's a hell of a lot to ask but it would be awesome if you could 😀
Oooof even thinking about that task gave me a headache. So many books and even more so the editors at the time of post crisis didn’t agree on when stories took place. I have a reading order that I’ve used but it’s not right or current. This might take up my entire summer lol
@NearMintCondition A summer well spent in my opinion hahah
Hey is this a good starting point for the avengers?
This is a good starting point for avengers?
The book looks great. I definitely want to pick it up. Here’s my question. If you only afford one book would it be this or the Hickman Avengers omnibus?
Hickman imo. But there is two volumes for that run, not including secret wars.
@@stephentheshywarrior2759, I was thinking the same thing. So many great books to read.
I’ve never read Hickman’s run, but Busiek and Perez were tasked with fixing a brand that had gone completely off the rails during the early to mid-nineties. Writers such as Bendis, Hickman and others also didn’t have to worry about playing continuity cleanup like Busiek had to at the time. I know that’s not really giving you an answer, but I think it really comes down to if you prefer classic Marvel writing (Busiek) or modern Marvel writing.
This is the one. Seriously.
Really tough decision. I didn’t even know Justice and Firestar joined the Avengers.
Will there be an upcoming book tour at all?
Yes. There was one filmed two weeks ago. :)
My spine is way tighter I’ve literally stretched it page by page twice then in clumps another 3 times and have so much gutter loss
Are the bottom edges of this printing plain brown ??
I don't recall Avengers Forever even going into Teen Tony.
It does. Believe me, I had to hear it from my friends that hated the Crossing. It explains why Tony was so easily corrupted by Kang.
Certainly a great volume, though I personally feel it would have been better to include the whole Perez run up until #34 in here and leave Avengers Forever out of this. The mini does not add a lot, I remember it being rather confusing and out of synch with the main series (which in return was a joy to read from beginning to end)...
What issue numbers does this Omnibus contain ???
Collecting: Avengers (1998) 1-23, 0, 1 Rough Cut; Iron Man (1998) 7; Captain America (1998) 8; Quicksilver 10; Avengers Annual '98, '99; Avengers Forever 1-12
From Amazon
He goes over all that in the video.
Comment no 100 thank u everybody ❤❤❤
Total pass
I have a question being new to collecting omnibus can this be read after infinity gauntlet or do I have to read onslaught? As far as marvel events go???
I did a video on the chronological reading order of events. If you want to check that out on our playlist for reading orders. I would put this after onslaught which is after IG. Is it necessary to read both events? No, not at all.
@@NearMintCondition thx so much sir.
