I loved doing this hike, I do recommend starting on the left and working your way clock wise. My fear of height's kicked in for the first little bit of rock climbing the time in this video would be at 6:06. me and my friend and we actually didn't see that path to the right side of the first boulder where you see the people walking so we climbed up where that deep crack is in the center of that rock. Before taking that path we had talked to a group and that's the path they told us, I don't think they noticed the path on the right side either or maybe the path to the right side is gone, I'm not sure. For the second climb we took the left side of the trail where in the video he climbs over the right side. The path is more on the dirt side to the left you can sort of but not really make it out at 6:50. When you got to the left side you'll be on a little bit of a trail before you can climb up it pretty easy and you have rocks along the side to grab on to to feel safe. I'm not sure if Cary's path he took on the right side there is easier. But after that hump the scrambling is pretty easy and the rocks are pretty solid for walking on. after you continue all along the ridge and finally start descending on the other side I did find it tougher than coming up. Lose dirt and it just keeps going down and down and down, I find coming up on the side he started on in this video to feel so much easier than coming down on the other side. beautiful hike and I was pretty lucky we went July 23, 2023 and managed to dodge the smoke that had rolled into Calgary and towards the end of our hike around 6pm just started to role into the area. We just did Ha ling peak the week before and had 3 groups of people recommend this trial to us. Oh heads up if you punch this tent ridge in on google it takes you to the wrong parking lot all though it is very close. When you get towards the end of google maps for the drive the very last turn it wants you to make is to turn left but you don't want to turn there you want to continue on right. the difference between the two parking lots is around 3 minutes. as you turn right at the fork you should see with in 1 min a pink marker on the left side that's the start to the trail you want to take. One last thing for this hike being so popular there is no washrooms so make sure you go before arriving or bring a shovel. I hope some of this info is helpful and keep on enjoying are beautiful mountains and thank you Cary for the wonderful video's. I was thinking about doing the new Triple Crown from the George pub this year but just found out some of the trails are closed due to bears. I wonder where your next big adventure will take you. Take care and keep on rocking those mountains.
It's definately an awesome hike. Glad you didnt have any smoke when you did it. I have to go back one day and do it again, hopefully with no smoke. A lot of great info in your comments😁
@@LIVEONALBERTA Oh for sure, I meant more that I am terrified of scrambling and ridge walks lol. The fear of heights/plummeting to my death is strong lol. Even if it weren't for those things, I am not in the right shape for it.
Did you feel overall safe on this hike? Of course there seems to be some risk but by this video the ridge looked very narrow! We are very casual hikers debating to do this when we visit Kananaskis
@laurageddes2166 I would try South Lawson Peak, also called Little Lawson. See how you do with that one. I have a video of this one in the winter on my channel😁
I don't know if I can be of any help but if you have some hikes that you've done I can see if there's a youtube video or if I have don't any of the trail's to be able to compare this to. I honestly felt fine on the actual ridge, I do use hiking poles. It's just that first bit of scrambling that might feel a bit over whelming. But to be honest for that first bit of scrambling it shouldn't be longer than 5 min in two spots and the great news is with it being a loop you don't have to climb back down the scrambling area. For me that's my biggest fear.
Very cool hike!
I have to go back and do it again when there is no smoke.
Amazing views.. great video. Thinking about doing it next week.
A great outing for sure, and the views will be stunning without smoke. Thank you for watching and commenting.

Great video as always Cary.
I don't think this is one I'll do myself lol.
Thank you very much. Good idea to hike this one with other people.😁

This one had a few spots where I thought wtf am I doing.🤣🤣🤣
Great video Cary! As always! Was there just the one exposed area?
Thanks, ya both spots I was on my butt were right together and this was pretty much the only spot.

If you are a casual hiker I would skip this one. There is some scrambling on this hike. So you have to be comfortable with this.
@@LIVEONALBERTA Do you have suggestions of other hikes in Kananaskis?

@laurageddes2166 I have a playlist showcasing all the hikes I have done in Kananaskis Country. I have hikes of varying levels of difficulty.
