I moved one of our courgettes too, it flopped dramatically and I thought I'd killed it, but it revived within a day or two. The sourdough rolls and cake look amazing, I bet it was very satisfying to sit down and enjoy cake and a cuppa in the sunshine! I'm amazed at how prolific nasturtiums are. I let ours go to seed all over the place last year and there are so many volunteers popping up that I've either left in situ or moved to bare patches just like you have. Plot's looking great, and your tomatoes are starting to ripen nicely! Not much rain here, we had a bit of thunder yesterday morning but it didn't come to much. I do love a good summer downpour though, the footage in your garden is so atmospheric!
Thank you Stéphanie. I love summer storms too - although they do now come with the anxiety of what might snap or get battered! The hollyhocks have been surprisingly resilient so far - last year they were prone to flopping. I love that the nasturtiums have self seeded in the woodchip although those ones aren't really producing flowers - the ones in the beds are romping away. The sparrows have eaten all my lettuce so all my sandwiches have nasturtium leaves in them now! 🤣
Hi a tip from an old boy for slugs and snails water through a pipe keeping the ground as dry as possible also I use chopped up nettles and brambles to mulch all around my beds happy gardening Richardx
Loved this opening Kerry 😌 Your garden is just Devine! Would love to sit in the sun and have a drinky poos with you and Dorie 😆🫶🏽 Quick!! SKIP.... 😂😂 we have one coming Saturday so me and Eric will be on it early to get rid of loads 💪🏽 Oh library. We have one in our communal hut, it's a fab idea Glad the bags seem to be working 😊 Looks amazing that squash! Hope it does well in its new home. 13:40 😂😂😂 howling Storm was mental! Then the extreme heat came again.
You have great baking skills! Everything looked delish! I was wondering how you knew how much to add and realized the scale which I’m not accustomed to using that way-interesting. The Fox! OMG! Your dog has a buddy! I have something eating peas and need to figure out what to do. Birds or gopher and hope we don’t still have voles. I will try to save the fall cauliflower, but because I’m replanting in a bed that had brassicas it may be a slug issue. We don’t really have an issue ever, but those two beds are clay and we’ve head tons of rain. Oh, and will be trying those round zucchini also as they look the perfect size. We are having a big cooldown here in Wisconsin, US and I actually have a jacket on-a bit crazy to go from rainforest to late fall. The heat returns next week and unfortunately the humidity. Oh 🤩 that white flower was beautiful! Enjoyed the vid!
Watching from Australia where I live.... Can you believe I was at the Cosby Yarn Bomb last year, as my daughter lives nearby? Such a small world & thank you for the video that gave me such a nice memory 🙂
Freeeeee free at last cry the brassicas 😂 I have net bags on my squash to protect them from the slugs until they get too big for them to get their teeth into!
Look how quickly things change! Ok, so the beans are a no-go but the brassicas, tomatoes, chillies, courgettes, cucumbers and the flowers all look amazing! Super healthy! Your cape gooseberries have grown well too! Lovely to see you surrounded by things actively surviving the slugs at last! Love the intro to this and the cake… oh my.. yum! ❤
It is a relief that things have started to grow, though I took the squash out of their bags yesterday and now we've had rain overnight... will there be anything left today???
oh wow i want snake beans lol ive seen cage building using small plastic bottles ina similar way I might give it a go next time I build a new one and I must make blackberry cake it looks nom
@shegrowsveg is stocking the seed now - shegrowsveg.com/product/gourd-snake-bean/ I'm not sure I'll actually get any beans, but the flowers are lovely, if fleeting!
I think they need a bigger skip 😂😂. Hope the brassica rescue operation works well 👍. Everything looks great in the greenhouse and garden. My tomatoes 🍅 are really behind from last year at this time 🤦♀️. Awesome storm but glad no real damage. Have a super week, Ali 🌞🥵🇨🇦
They do need a bigger skip! I think we might be due another. Can't have any bonfires until October... I think my tomatoes are pretty much inline with last year's, but only because I massively abused them and put them out super late last year 🤣 No damage, and a really good water! You have a great week too 😊💕
Oooh so glad the how to make the cake is on here ❤ Cute fox!🦊 Looks like you will be eating tree spinach 😂 so much self seeded. I see the August eat in getting bigger every year. Such a great idea. Made us stop and think about meals ahead of time and use what we have in lots of different recipes. Great job on the brassica cage!! A great job on getting rid of all that rotting wood, a haven for all the slugs and snails. So sad all the beans have gone 😢 Busy week!! Ooh I’ve got to do a snake bean next year!! Even if just for the flowers 😮 Lovely video 👏🤗 Allie & Tricia xx
Yes, I'm not confident I'll be getting any snake beans but the flowers are lovely. Thanks Allie. Glad you're enjoying the #augusteatin so far. Things may get weird later in the month though!! Oh and I know - tree spinach everywhere. Luckily I love it!
Love the look of the black tomatoes in the greenhouse. I know what you mean about the skip. Get in quick. The coloured balls still look great on the plot.
Are slugs allowed in the skip 🙄😜😆 it's beautiful up here in Whitby 😎☀️ I've been out and weeded the back border 🌿🌿🌿 followed by a few 🍹🍹🍹 it's hot hot hot ☀️☀️☀️

Love watching your videos , your becoming my favourite gardener to watch, I could listen to you talking all day ..which says a lot as I often lose patience watching you tube. I hope your courgette fights on and your brassicas have outgrown any damage slugs could do to them now . Going to try your cake recipe tomorrow . Keep up the good work 💪
Aw thank you Deborah. That's a lovely comment! I'd like to think they're big enough to withstand damage but after the slugs took out that huge patty pan I put nothing past them!! Good luck with the cake - let me know how it turns out. 😊🌱
Hi Pauline. They are ball pit balls, for kids play pens or paddling pools. The local church nursery was getting rid of them, so I said I could use them on my plot!
Wonderful Kerry. Lots of progress. The cake looks absolutely delicious. Good luck with your #augusteatin but, what in gods name is Rach doing this challenge for!? I couldn’t believe my eyes reading her name. Her and Eric are doomed. 😂😂😂Are you still allowed to buy alcohol in the shops? Hope so. It is August. Got a glimpse of your cousin. Great fun. 😉👍❤️🥂xxx
