on this thanksgiving day in the u.s. ; i am thankful to have lived long enough to hear and see such a performance ....those valveless horns are frighteningly beautiful , such overtones , lawdy
When I just saw a notification saying "Netherlands Bach Society uploaded Brandenburg Concerto No. 1" (but the full concerto), it was definitely one of the most satisfying moments in my life!
Whoever your sound engineers are, know that we appreciate their excellence! Stupendous recording! And, yes, the trills in the horns gave me goosebumps 😂
Thank you, Netherlands Bach Society for posting this today! I am a horn player in North America and wanted to give a warm congratulations to both: Bart Aerbeydt and Milo Maestri on the Corno da Caccia parts. These truly remarkable musicians have given me so much inspiration on Thanksgiving Day. Thank you so much for all that you do and I admire you all very much for your gifts, dedication, and service. Everyone sounded absolutely sublime! I have been waiting for this for a long time, (where I would check periodically for this masterwork from you!) 💗 Lucia, Bojan, Siebe, Rodrigo, Benny, and the entire ensemble all are such highly skillful artists. I've never heard it better on this particular work, truly! Kind regards.
This American Thanksgiving weekend, I'm also thankful for Bach and those who perform and appreciate his wonderful music hundreds of years later! ❤ AMDG 🕊️
I just can't get enough of these horns! Dark thoughts and sorrows have no chance but to flee from the tormented soul. Bach's Brandenburgs are the greatest antidepressant available. Thanks again, NBS!❤
How I thank God that I was able to hear this sacred concerto played by my favourite musicians! When I listened to Brandenburg No.4 performed by NBS,I was so impressed that I couldn’t stop listening to it. That was the time I started to love NBS.And now,I feel the same as at that time .Thank you so much to release such a great video!
Soli Deo Gloria !! ... Finally, also Brandenburg #1 is online: "All of Brandenburg" is a fact, WOW !! ... Thank you Dutch Bach Society, what a treat ... There are not that many Bach pieces in which the master shows his surprisingly good sense of humor but this is one of them, especially the first movement: at times, the horns are just playing their signature hunting signals in broken major chords, purposefully interfering with the rest of the ensemble, like a bunch of naughty schoolboys (which the great master had to deal with almost every day as long-time Kantor of the Thomasschule, which provided the choristers for the services at St. Thomas´ Church in Leipzig) ... And only seconds later, they harmonically comply with their colleagues by playing fiendishly difficult parts, especially considering the fact that unlike today, horns in those times had no valves and every intonation and detail was achieved by embouchure (lip-tension), with the only slight help of the right hand in the resonator for subtle nuances in the instrument´s sound ... Moreover, it is surprising that in this piece, only two horns suffice to achieve the richness in horn-typical sonority that in later works we are used to expect from no less than three or even four horns ... Also, I am convinced that the part starting at 17:05 musically paints a duck hunt, with the hunting horns scaring the ducks off into flight and the oboes imitating their quacking as ducks do when taking off ... Altogether, I believe Bach intended Brandenburg #1 as a musical parody of hunting scenes which may very well have pleased his aristocratic benefactors ... On a slightly more personal note: I, my sister and my two brothers will forever associate this music with fairy tales: some genious producer had the brilliant idea of using all six Brandenburgs as musical backdrop for several vinyl LPs with the most famous Grimm and Andersen stories ... I believe Brandenburg #1 was the musical scenery for Hänsel and Gretel ... Be that as it may, I cannot possibly think of a more delightful way to introduce this heavenly music to even the youngest listeners, it will accompany and comfort them for the rest of their lives ...
There is never a dull day with the NBS. God bless you all for how much good work you do for each and every one of us! It is most definitely to a wonderful cause!
These are German corno da Caccia, the French Trompe de chasse sound more like kazoos lol Pls go listen to them for yourself! There's a Telemann suite for hunting horns here on UA-cam that uses French Trompe de Chasse instead of these German Corno Caccia!
Danke ! Ich hoffe auf Weiteres !
I'd like to mention that ALL the musicians are looking so beautiful! They are beaming with love, passion, joy, mutual respect- reflecting the God who inspired J.S.Bach. Just beautiful... I'm always stunned to read how deeply people all over the world are moved by his music just like I've always been.
The Freiburger Barockorchester's recording first drew me to this wonderful piece, and now I have a new favorite recording of the 1st Brandenburg Concerto! Wonderful audio quality and clarity, even through UA-cam compression!
Thank you very, very much. The Brandenburg Concert were my first contact to J.S. Bach as a you child. I have never broken off this contact over the decades and love listening to these concerts, especially in this kind of interpretation.
honestly the most beautiful and successful concert of all the other 6. With the horns you can feel a beautiful hunting atmosphere from the beginning to the end.
Thank you for this gift. My heart is bursting with love for NBS and Bach. In these dark times here in America, this music embraces and fortifies the spirit.
This is the most delicious recording of these Brandenburg Concerti that I've EVER heard! There's a certain nuance, a certain je ne sais quoi about it that lifts it from the mundane ubiquity of myriad other recordings!
So many wonderful things about this reading! Fine graces and dynamics, excellent tempo choices, and magnificent playing from everyone. I especially love the little oboe solo at the end of the second movement (I play oboe also), and how groups of instruments alternate playing the Minuet. Well done!
A great performance again, as very often with NBS !! I don't know if I'm the only one who thinks this, but I miss Mr Sato... Mr Cicic is good but I find that the violin lacks color and shine. In my opinion Mr Sato is really on another level, in terms of technique, interpretation and direction. A very beautiful interpretation however and a big congratulations for the horn players, their parts are so delicate...

Whoever your sound engineers are, know that we appreciate their excellence! Stupendous recording! And, yes, the trills in the horns gave me goosebumps 😂
Thank you. Deserved praise for Bart Aerbeydt and Milo Maestri, and for sound engineer Guido Tichelman and his team
@@bach incredible work
I am so impressed at the depth of range on the horns! Amazing!
Stupendous !! Many thanks to all
Those trills in the horn are 🔥
It's difficult to comment on this Bach masterpiece, all I can say is that the performance and interpretation are superlative.
Dank

The best performance of this concerto that I have heard. Another triumph from the NBS. Can I just give a special mention to the horns.

Bravissimi!!!
And for those who are wondering... Those horns are called "Corno da Caccia"
They are referred to as hunting horns in the description. Is that what the name you give translate to in English? In what language is your name?
These are German corno da Caccia, the French Trompe de chasse sound more like kazoos lol

@@slomo4672da caccia translated to "for the hunt"
holly shit ! best version i've ever heard!
Isn't it telling of the times we're living in when not a single rich person is funding things like this. Worth the wait great performance
I would say the people funding this are showing that being rich is not at all about money 😊
I've been waiting for this recording for a very very long time. It didn't dissapoint. The horns sound so magical.
Thank you NBS for a beautiful and joyful Bach performance👏👏👏👏
Deze muziek vrolijkt de luisteraar op.
Och, wat is het weer mooi!

Whenever I listen to Brandenburg concerto #1 Allegro, I am enveloped by an inexplicable nostalgia and reminiscence, much like Proust’s madeleine.

Finally!!!! The full brandenburg!
Un interpretació insuperable!!
Les trompes de cacia son una meravella de perfecció i que dir dels oboès i fagot ❤❤❤❤❤
They have made a general pause before uploading this wonderful recording after all other Brandenburg's. A gesture worthy of this great music!
Prachtig weer, heel hartelijk bedankt NBS!
¡Estupendo dueto de cornos! ¡Maravillosa interpretación! Muchas gracias.
Thank you very, very much. The Brandenburg Concert were my first contact to J.S. Bach as a you child. I have never broken off this contact over the decades and love listening to these concerts, especially in this kind of interpretation.
fascinating! He managed to sound like a symphony orchestra, with only a few instruments.
Awesome piece! I love this one. Excellent work!
Your level of expertise is simply astounding.
I thought you're not going to upload it. And what flawless!
honestly the most beautiful and successful concert of all the other 6.

Our humans lives are fleeting , less than 100years.
However,
Bach‘s music has an eternal life and popularity and attraction
A wonderful Xmas gift...😊❤
Where do these incredible musicians come from??? What a pleasure for us🙂 Thank you again and again.
Those musicians are part of The Netherlands Bach Society: www.bachvereniging.nl/en
Bravi tutti! Magnifique!!!
I waited too long for this song ❤
Glorious.
BRAVO
Bravo!❤

1.14 basso continuo inspired by Gustav Leonhardt, I use the same approach!
Hard to believe Bach didn't get the job after hearing this and the other 5 as well.
MY MAN !!!
Sato, a great loss, Standage a great win!
Cicic ?
Happy thanksgiving!!!
Let's hunt for some good black Friday deals with those hunting horns!!!
The horns... baby...
Bachs Horn-Prophezeiung geht hier in Erfüllung.

This time without Shunske Sato. He will be missed!
Verdade…finalmente…pena sem o Sato….
