My EDC. Does include a multi tool ( Leatherman surge ) because I do outside manual labor ( farrier) and it gets used 10 times a day easy. Not saying everyone should do the same but for me it's absolutely essential. My knife is a spyderco Delica ( straight edge ) . Wallet one of those super thin card type wallet carried in a shirt pocket. My flash light is a streamlight micro stream. ( blue, so Noone steals it) watch is a Casio G-shock 1500A. Ear buds Tozo t12. Cell phone ( Samsung S10 because phones are not important to me so I take my wife's hand me downs) and last is my pistol. This really irritates people. Smith & Wesson M&P Sheild Gen 1 in 40S&W. With a spare 7 round mag. I bought this at a Cabela's on clearance for $199.99 6 years ago and add a hoage beaver tail grip sleeve to increase the surface are so I can get a proper grip on the thing. I get people EDC shaming me all the time. I really don't care. It my set up and I never tell anyone they should do as I do or say.

It's always crazy to me to see posts on Reddit where they pull out a backpack worth of stuff from their pockets. Brennan's setup isn't unrealistic for me compared to the amount of stuff I already carry. I carry keys, wallet, airpods, and a comb in my left pocket and 2 phones in my right and I feel bulky already. Planning on getting my ccw permit soon so I'm trying to be more conscious of what I have room for in my pockets/on my waist.

A lot of it depends on the clothes and other things people wear/carry to help them carry something like the ever present meme the "tactical fannypack"
My pockets on my pants i wear 90% of the time are huge, like I can fit both my lighter and spare magazine in my change pocket comfortably, I look like the guy in Sinbad taking all the weapons off when I empty my pockets, but you'd never notice I was carrying it if I didn't take it out of my pocket (I'm also a large guy so my general bulk helps with concealing everything I'm carrying)
I can comfortably carry enough stuff that a smaller person would need a bag to carry the same amount, it's all about clothing choice, body type, AND the items you carry. Some items are better for carrying everyday because they're thin or low profile, and a good holster can completely change how well you can conceal and carry a gun.

I carry a GIANT edc knife...I carry the Cold Steel Rajah 2 knife.... it's heavy AF but it has been the most useful edc knife that I have ever owned. Plus, after 2 years of carrying, it doesn't seem that heavy anymore.
The other VERY IMPORTANT edc that I don't leave home without is a defensive pepper spray.... the strongest I have tested is "DPS Black Label ".... The stuff is no joke . It's like having an army in your pocket. People can't hit what they can't see

I get asked about EDC constantly because I am an armed self defense instructor. My basic rule is this, carry only what you have a need for and it should be quality goods.
All the other items you think you need or fear you may need are candidates for your go bag or your get home bag. Don’t over do it when it comes to EDC.

Check out the „Swiss Card“ by the people that make the classic Swiss Pocket knife. Small but a helper in so many not so „manly“ situations which I need much more often then having to defend myself against agressors.

Hello, very good podcast! I have question. Which model of optic would you recommend for .223. Fox hunting, and target shooting. Up to 200m, and budget is not an issue. Tomorrow is a big hunting fair, so I would like to buy one. I know there is a different level of quality between a models, but I am just not sure.

Brennan's is a realistic EDC. Unless you're walking around like a fool doing grocery shopping or getting lunch in a damn utility belt with a million pouches like Batman, that's about the limit of what a normal civilian can conceivably and comfortably EDC carry. There are some parts of the EDC community that have completely gone off the deep end and have lost sight of what "Every day" means. No one's rocking a full harness and utility belt every time they're stepping out of the door unless it's their job.

I know he mentioned he didn’t use his multitool, but if you’re going to carry a knife anyway, imo it may as well be a leatherman multitool. 🤷🏻‍♂️
