Excellent video and Bruce Lee is an apt name for that special juniper

Nice tree to come in the future most would be aghast at the amount of foliage removed but you know better as you have proved. Thanks for demonstrating how to deal with junipers.

I love your passion for art. What is life without the feeling? Bonsai captures a living image for years like no other art. Alive and our companion for life.

Another fantastic project. Thank you Milton. Also, thanks for the idea of analogy for helping describe the project, I have been thinking of the narrative behind my projects, to describe the evolution of the plants natural history, why branches are this way or that, why jins etc. but the Bruce Lee idea, add additional dimensions. Particularly drawing from calligraphy and martial arts. Thank you!

Great video. I am guessing it is going to take a few years for this tree to mature into a great Bonsai

I'd love to see an update on that juniper, TBH I'd be nervous taking so much off, it'll loose a lot of vigour

I will do a progress update on this bonsai in a few months! You are right. Cutting back drastically works for me because trees bounce back quickly, but you can certainly cut back a bit at a time. It's all about finding what works best for you.

Lovely experiment. I’m just about to publish and before and after video of a Japanese maple bonsai (next day or so) and would be interested what you thought please. Thanks for showing, all the best.

I would have considered leaving a few more limbs. It would be very beneficial for we bonsai enthusiasts to see the progression of it.

How is this a good idea for first styling you just took off like 95% of the trees leaves do you know juniper strength come from the leaves you just set the tree back like 3 years you going to have to protect it over the winter or it might just die...

You are right. Everything is a compromise. Cutting back drastically works for me because trees bounce back quickly….never killed a tree because of that. No risk of hurting the tree. You can certainly cut back a bit at a time. It's all about what works for you!
