How can they be friends when Batman has to be a paranoid doomsday prepper and and Superman has to be a holier than all god who can't understand what it means to be human /s.
I kinda like how in the 2004 Batman Show it was Batman who taught and told Superman to be more open accepting of others. Usually, it's the opposite and imo it is a good showing of how different that take on Bruce Wayne was from the other ones.
That was kind of freaky. Batman being more emotionally open and Superman being a little bit more closed off... They switch personalities for a hot minute
I love how this theme is carried in young justice where Bruce tells Clark that he needs to be a father to superboy. Bruce the adoptive father is a dynamic I always love.
That's the tragedy of DCAU Batman, @@SyrEmilonhe's not able to open up. YJ Batman makes the revelation that he took in Robin to keep him from becoming Batman 2. And then we see Dick does not want to be Batman. I'd love to see a Crisis interaction of Batmen talking about their lives. DCAU would be absolutely tragic in their eyes
I was respectfully never into it, because it felt like a really off take on Superman that only existed because to make their Batman look better by comparison as the main character. I dunno, I don't like it when a character with their own history and presence feels relegated to being a side character in someone else's show that blatantly. And I do think that The Batman had a running issue about Batman being always right about everything, like they were concerned that him being wrong at any point would make him less cool.
Couple of things. 1. I think “the Batman” is a cross between BTAS and Batman 66. A Batman that is dark but light hearted. 2. We are overdue for a Worlds Finest cartoon.
The Batman's (2004) take on the World's Finest dynamic is quite interesting because it sort of flips their personality. Batman is a team player who's open to a partnership, while Superman is a lone wolf who doesn't value teamwork initially. It's a pretty refreshing take on their friendship without compromising too much of their character.
I've kinda always like how The Batman portrays batman. He seems like a generally well balanced person. He is driven to fighting crime due to his parents death but it's not an obsession. He's not always grim and unfriendly. He only goes full obsession in that flashback when the future GCPD finds the cave when trying to fight freeze
It's also kind of interesting to think about why that makes sense: Superman is literally superman, why would he think he needs help? And Batman is a mere mortal, so he knows how helpful and important others can be.
The Batman/Superman Movie (which were the World's Finest episodes put together) was my very first introduction to Superman, Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn and Lex Luthor and the DC universe as a whole when I was 5 years old and I remember just being mesmerized by Tim Daly's kind and passionate voice and Kevin Conroy's intimidating and deep yet calming voice.
I just love how Batman actually judo flipped _Superman_ ! That's freaking hilarious! Also, "The Batman" was an underrated cartoon, and I still stand by that.
I love how Batman working with Robin makes him open to collaboration and working with others which in then makes him trust Superman which opens Clark to work with the Justice League and not having to carry the burden of working solo as a hero for Earth the League can share the burden together
I love the Batman from this iteration, he doesn't downplay that he needs help and collaboration with others. He's a happier batman and Bruce Wayne and its a great change of pace.
I’ve always loved the Batman. Absolutely one of my favorite versions of the bat-family (especially in the future episode) plus the joker in this one is frustratingly underrated.
I don't mind Batman and Superman fighting each other, as long as there's a good reason. But, Batman and Superman as bros? Those stories are even better.
Batman and Superman. The foils of these two. Batman is human and yet because of what he does, some people have considered Batman to be more than human; hell Amanda Waller once said that Batman was so skilled and powerful via mind that she considered Batman a meta human. While Superman on the other hand is an alien among earthlings but yet wishes to be viewed as a human being and not as a god. Not to mention that unlike Bruce, he had a childhood.
Additionally (because I’m not a fan of the Batman is the real persona schtick) The faces of Clark and Superman are both equally Clark showcasing who he really is in different ways, Clark his hometown values & love of the simple things and Superman showing his heritage, history and what he can do for others While on the other hand bruce has to constantly play a front in and out of costume, the aloof billionaire playboy socialite civilian to throw off suspicion and the role of the vengeful spirit in order to strike fear into the criminal world of Gotham. He has to fake himself in someway or another
Yeah, it’s kinda like OG TAS before the new adventures & JL/JLU changed it to the emotionless, “cold is cool” personality to many writers try to make him. Originally Bruce could be friendly, make genuine connections and have Batman smile or laugh. I wish more stories actually bout care into the Bruce Wayne side of the character instead of the dumb “Batman is the real persona” schtick” But honestly this video and seeing how open & just not the “I work alone, despite me consistently having people I work with” (gordan, alfred, fox, multitude of bat family) bs with other heroes, has genuinely made me interested in watching the show
I like the dynamic they have in the batman (2004). I'm not sure of the timeline but I get the impression that batman has been working as a hero longer than clark and he already has his partnership with batgirl and robin. Superman on the otherhand probably hasn't worked with many others and if he has, he was probably too worried about their safety. Batman being portrayed as the loner type even after he has worked with robin never made sense to me, like wym you're a loner, you have sidekicks and in this case multiple! I love this portrayal because rather than just sticking to the perception of how they would act the writers instead stayed true to the characters and where they were at in their journey
honestly 100%, this interpretation makes way more sense in general (both for show & comics), like the bat family is probably larger than most superhero teams and yet batman still acts like "I work alone" or "I can't get too close to people" just feels like the equivalent of a teen acting needlessly edgy. The show just removing that and deciding since he has the sidekicks it makes more sense for him to be more open and friendly
I will never get tired of their relationship. First they’re both skeptical of each other and after a couple of team ups and they’re best bros. If anything they become brothers
There isn't many videos you have done that I have seen the source material for. But the way you put them together is always a joy to listen to. Please keep up the amazing work 🙏
In a way, my favorite superbat relationship has to be in dan mora's run of world's finest. They managed to show the relationship between the two men without bringing one down or making one look like the dumb one who doesnt even have common sense (which a lot of iterations make supes look like 😭 funny considering how kryptonians are naturally smarter than humans). It shows supes helping bruce when he's in a pitch and bruce doing the same, it also shows bruce slowly but surely opening up to people outside his family and finally accepting Clark as his best friend (heck one of the rare times he does smile is when clark wakes up after a tough surgery)
I will always like how Batman and Superman will always be the best of friends despite their differences. While I do like the Batman Superman story two part episode, I still think that Batman and Superman's personality roles were reversed in those episodes. Superman should be the one inviting Batman, not the one who feels he works better alone, just as Batman should be the loner rather than him trying to teach Superman the importance of teamwork.
It's not that far off. In Justice League, the team are doing training drills and Supes is arguing with everyone about how he just does whatever he wants cause he knows the best thing to do in that moment. I believe he said something like 'Every hit I take is a hit someone else doesn't have to.'
yeah thats what I like most about the batman & the pre-"new adventures" BTAS, bruce was allowed to live. he could form relationships, act friendly, and be genuine instead of "playboy persona", he can interact with people positively. Now, most media just want him to act overly edgy and wallow in his own misery about (like a My Chemical Romance song should always be playing over him except minus the energy)
Back in the old days, wot easing two of the best Super heroes meeting for the first time and working together? It was great. Seeing how well those two play off of each other was so great that I see them both as brothers. So imagine how painful it was decades later that when the injustice games came about, these two had to fight against each other; the scenario really hurt to witness.

(I am not making this up. This is the canon way they met pre-New 52. Superman/Batman Annual Vol 1 #1)
A recent Batman Superman World’s Finest Comic story reinvented how the two heroes first met. Written by Mark Waid, in this take we don’t see Superman and Batman throw punches or insults. They respect each other’s boundaries. Ironically, Bruce invites Clark Kent to Wayne Manor and reveals his secret identity to him as a show of trust while joking that Superman would have eventually peaked using X-ray vision. Clark states he would never do such a thing and Bruce simply states that this beats wearing a lead cowl.
Finally, someone talking about The Batman 04; actually, I'd be very interested in seeing a full retrospective from you on that particular version of Bruce
Thanks for talking about The Batman it was my Batman animated series growing up as I was old enough to remember when to watch it and to keep up to date on it.

You say this like superman is a f*cking idiot. He isn't lol. Have you read comics? He can be smarter than batman if he needs to be. He's not just brawn.
@@ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΑ-ε1ω 🤣 Ha!!!!! I don’t see that about intelligence with Superman.
I am always entertained to watch Jor-el and General Zod not for their powers but for Jor-el’s scientific expertise and Zod’s intelligence of strategy. Superman on the other hand bores me.
I love Jor-el, Zod, Lex, and Batman for their brains.

Yo
4:54 this scene has been bothering me for a long time. The dialogue sounds like it should be the other way around for the two.
Why did Clark keep Superman animated series design but Bruce was changed from his BTAS design
On order
To be in Sync
With Superman the Animated Series 😊
So it'd sync better
Wow. You're on a churn of late. 3 essays in less than a week?
Hot take but I always disliked Lois not loving Clark but more superman it always felt off as if u loved the guy you'd love Clark Kent more right I think the new superman show fixes that problem with Lois not fond of superman but fond of Clark which is neat
