Alot of Creed's songs had a spiritual undertone but, they said in interviews that they weren't a Christian band. I think they eventually broke up because they felt they we're being put into that category.
Some other songs from them are "My Sacrifice" "Arms wide open" "One last breath" and "Higher". These are probably their biggest/well known hits.

We all have been able to enjoy amazing music from these guys in all their various bands since CREED disbanded in the early 2000s !! You really have to delve into all their different factions whether its CREED, ALTER BRIDGE, TREMONTI, MYLES KENNEDY or SCOTT STAPP'S solo stuff !!

    Higher was the biggest song.
Lead singer had substance abuse issues and mental health issues as well.
Surprisingly he was interviewed by Theo Von recently and it was a great insight into what he had been through. He seems to have really turned his life around.

I am a big Creed fan. Scott Stapp the lead vocal was very straight forward about his faith. The lyrical content of many of their songs is undercover Christianity. Stapp came from a ultra religious family and rebelled. Many of their songs are about his journey back to his faith. My Sacrifice is straight up about Christ... his friend and sacrifice. Probably next on your Creed journey would be Arms Wide Open... it's their mega hit. One Last Breath is one of my favorites because it mirros my own journey in many ways. One of the their lesser known songs is Weathered. Man does that one hit home for me. It doesn't hurt that I could still cover that song vocally. lol

Creed is a band that taught their fans to sing their songs with soul and it's impossible for you to sing a Creed song without adding feeling and energy, this band is divine and Scott Stapp is simply the voice that commands everything

8:55 Creed was one of my first bands getting into music. Along with Linkin Park, Staind Puddle of Mud, Nickelback it puts you in a certain mood as a angsty 12 year old. Then my uncles were into 90's grudge, Hootie & Blowfish, counting crows, Goo goo dolls and 80's metal

    Broken

Scott Stapp said these were never meant "christian songs" though the lyrics reflected some of those things. This song for me was a life line in a dark place in my life. It was soon after I gave my life to Christ and was reborn. Not because this song told me to....but because that was where I was in life and God through Christ delivered me from That prison.

Check those out for sure, but when you go deeper, try "Torn" from the first album, "Are You Ready", "Faceless Man", and "Inside Us All" from 2nd, (Human Clay) album. And songs 5-9 on the 3rd (Weathered) album. (which actually includes My Sacrfice). Then check out Alter Bridge, which is basically Creed with another singer Miles Kennedy who is arguably a better vocalist.

One of the biggest rock bands in the late 90's. Hard to go wrong with their first two releases. Unfortunately, like a lot of bands out there, things went awry for a number of reasons. This song here was played so much on our local rock station, that I eventually had to turn it off. lol Great song, but it was just one of those songs that was played a lot. Continue on with Creed, they have a bunch of good music.
Regarding one of your last comments about you knowing one or two of their songs, With Arms Wide Open and Higher, probably their two biggest songs that would have also been played on more mainstream radio stations.

I have to admit, when this album dropped I considered it the album of the year (along with Matchbox 20's "Yourself or Someone Like You". Sadly, Creed just never followed up with more music that I enjoyed as much as their debut, and then Scott went nuts with religion and all sorts of creepy behavior and the band suffered greatly after that. For a decade Creed was a punchline joke amongst my age group, and the band was on blast far after it lost its relevancy and fans.

  • @sumonjamal1653
    @sumonjamal1653 8 місяців тому +6

Creed were massive by 1999 after just 2 albums... but the band burned out pretty fast. Scott Stapp (vocals) struggled w/ alcoholism... mental issues... The rest of the band were fed up by 2003 and ended Creed.
Mark Tremonti (guitar), Scott Phillips (drums) and Brian Marshall (bass) hired Myles Kennedy (vocals) and relaunched themselves as Alter Bridge in 2004 til today... Creed reunited briefly in 2009 for an album & tour... Plans are coming for a Creed comeback recently.
The 'alternative rock' 90's was winding down by 1997 when Creed recorded their debut album 'My own prison'... They were still a local Florida band, but the record got such a response that they were signed by upstart label Wind-up Records... Creed took 90's grunge and gave it a sonic boost - they were labeled "post-grunge"... MTV and radio put them on the air and Creed became a multi-platinum success by 1998... 2nd album 'Human clay' charted at #1 in the US and sold over 10 million copies... scored a #1 single - the ballad 'With arms wide open'...
However, Creed was internally in turmoil and bassist Brian Marshall quit by 2000... Creed released 'Weathered' in 2001 as a trio...and it was another #1 album... Unfortunately, the 2002 tour was a disaster w/ singer Scott Stapp drunk and performing poorly on the road. Mark Tremonti (guitar) felt like Creed had become the 'joke' of the music industry.
When Alter Bridge launched in 2004, the band refused to play any Creed songs live and built their career from scratch.
Mark Tremonti also launched his solo band Tremonti, in which he was the lead singer.

    Silence now the sound
My breath the only motion around
    Demons cluttering around
    My face showing no emotion
    Shackled by my sentence
    Expecting no return
    Here there is no penence
    My skin begins to burn
.. just helping u find the real song, there r lyric videos with the real song.. what happened is this song was the first big hit.. and the original creed fans have the REAL song, if those 8 lines r not in it, then it is the radio edit, music video version that u get now, not the original song on the cd.. if the lyric vid has those 8 lines then it is the real song

Scott Stapp used to sell the message of faith and Christianity, but he didn't LIVE the message. He himself admitted that he was a total hypocrite. I think that's part of the reason the band got so much hate. Stapp and Tremonti were two of the best from the 90's/2000's era. Stapp still sounds great doing Amusement Park gigs. lol

This song is about God’s grace
The song talks about someone that is struggling with his sin ,believing that there’s no way he can be forgiven and excepted by God, feeling like a prisoner.
On a point of desperation he cries out to God , seeking only His decision . God sends the angel Gabriel saying : You’ve created your own prison. You’re forgiven, you are loved . You are my son. God’s grace is the reason why he will go to Heaven , not because he’s perfect.
