i can tell you didn't had any info based on your potions, you entered the fight with all of the resistance popped ahah. but hey, this was a great run, specially for the first try!
Good run! This is a great showcase of adapting to a new fight without guides or spoilers, just straight skill and experience. For my first attempt i prepared against possible outside interference from spawned mobs by raising earth walls around the anti-building radius of the arena. I used the dual axes pre-nerf with around 30 or so axe skill, and its dps was roughly the same as yours with the mace doing block-cancel combos. Dual axes against this boss is a bit risky because of the long recovery time for each full combo, which caused my first death from incoming meteors. (where i lost bonemass barely 30 seconds into the fight) The ground spikes aren't fast enough to keep up with non-sprint movement even with heavy armor, so as long as you're moving right before the first spikes come up you're good. The attack frequency under 30% hp gets quite hectic with very little dps openings but it still felt a lot more manageable than the Queen. Fader is IMO, the best designed boss in the game so far. Cool atmosphere, great entrance and clear attack patterns. The attack frequency could use some tweaking though, like a cooldown for the spike attack specifically, or perhaps reduce the duration of the fire it leaves behind. Oh and I prefer stamina potions over lingering/tasty as an emergency button for when i don't have time to wait for regen.
I agree, the queen was just a chore to fight, this fight was actually fun. I think the only thing they may need to tune just a bit, is the dmg of his melee swings, which seems pretty much non existent, even with no bonemass up.
Finally got to him. Got mad and searched it up. Found your video. Got the win. Thank you! Small tip for you: auto pickup off is your friend on those tombstone runs 😂. Thanks again!! Big help.
I am not this good at Melee and I did it with the green new crossbow, ashlands and carapace bolts. Fader is short sighted and if you stay at enough distance he doesn't go for you, when by chance (greedy me) he got nearer as I was wearing complete ferrings outfit I escaped the attack just running then I came back. My crossbow skill was pretty low 20, so I ended 40, around 300 or 400 bolts, but that depends very much on your skills, it took me long time but solo is the only way I found to do it, apart from the 2 trolls method, so a combination of trolls and crossbow should work.
You should show this to the game developers. I have yet to see such a tough, difficult boss fight. Respect to you for your perseverance and the skills you have. I don't know if the developers didn't exaggerate too much with the difficulty of this boss
you can put some of the blame on those players complaining that "the game isnt hard anymore" demolishing the base game and only feeling the pressure when they get moded content that makes the base game look like a childrens game (4 star deathscitoes in packs of 10 kind of dificulty)
i dont think its too hard, its just harder than mistlands so it obviously should be harder, compare meadows to black forest, or swamp to mountains, or even better, plains to mistland. every next biome is way harder than previous one, like it should be. Only thing that kinda triggers me is amount of enemies, i like them being tanky and deal a ton of dmg, but seeing literal raids everytime you enter ashlands is wild, oh and i couldnt forget about morgens doesnt despawn, so when you encounter 2 star one, especialy near your base, you are done :)
@@saunshilu Those mods existing should be reason for the devs to not overdo it. Increased difficulty in new areas makes sense since that's the point of progression but they shouldn't overdo it imo.
congratulations!! I haven't killed him yet because I want to upgrade the mace and the double axes and I'm missing 2 electric gems, but from what I saw of the fight, the spiked fire folder attack follows you wherever you go, and it's the only one of his attacks that eliminate his minions... I saw that one hit from the demolisher kills them, but on some occasions it can be useful to "take" that attack to where the minions are. again very good fight friend!!
i feel like the only thing that could kill you no matter is spikes.. your health went from 200hp to 0hp in literally less than 5 seconds, ig you gotta find a way to counter that or atleast predict that he's gonna be summoning those spikes
I learned the hard way that it's best to turn off auto pickup before a boss fight. There's nothing more frustrating than to do a naked run to grab your stuff that's next to the boss, only to then have to sort your shit from all the garbage you picked up during the fight.
Just beat this fucker after like 3 hours of grueling combat. Should have upgraded my melee weapons before starting it 😭. Ended up using the troll, nature and fracturing staff with pure focus on mobility(fenris, askvin cloak). Once i got use to literally every mob jumping me during the fight. It wasn’t so bad… but gawd damn that first hour and a half was demoralizing. Started with lvl4 elemental and ended up with 25 at the end lmao
Seems like fire DoTs from the meteors are the most threatening thing to worry about for melee users. I’m surprised they killed you even with flametal armor’s resistance and fire mead. Maybe Yagluth’s power would be better then. I’m trying to think of a way to hatch like 20 asksvins around the boss area lol
Gongrats, mate! Really tough fight. I dont know why you have no beds tho, make it all at least one portal (and one loading screen) more than it needed to be each time you die.
you gotta explain how every time you randomly caught on fire for 5 seconds at a time you didnt die cause every time that happened to me I died from full health it was just like oh randomly on fire now and whoops Im dead. and yes of course I took all reasonable precautions
Try Nidhogg and Slayer on him. Stab him with slayer when your health is full, stab him with blood Nighogg when your health is low. It's very effective, took me around 13 minutes to kill it on my first try, you can also use the sword's extended power combo for even higher DPS like my 3 stabs in a row combo: Hold right mouse button -> 1 normal slash -> let your character moves the sword to the initial frame. Immediately afterward, hold down left mouse button (normal slash) + hold down the secondary attack = Extended power combo (3 normal slashes but with the stab/secondary attack damage). Though, this combo is kinda slow to prepare so you need to used it wisely.
i don't agree with you there in part about the extended power combo, mainly because it drains your stamina so fast i would rather use dodge double power attack since it only counts one of the attack stamina usage meaning that you get two secondary attack damage with around 36/30 stamina depends so this is even more damage but all of this assuming you master'd it since it's really difficult to used to it.
my sword skill is too low on this character but i agree about the sword secondary combo. fader has wider openings than the queen. sword roll exploit combo is too difficult to rely on without macros, at least for me.
@@GhxstDz Then i have some answer for you: -First, extended power combo drains stamina kinda... fast, but really worth it. The dodge counter used to be very OP but only when you playing pre ashlands. Cuz now the invincible frame from dodge counter is reduced so you will have less time to react to enemy's attacks to do this combo. Also, due to new patch's bug fixing and probably some new animations were added, you cannot perform dodge double counter anymore (only normal dodge counter is available). -Second, sword's extended power combo drains stamina, but not that much, i tested with Nidhogg sword and it just consumed 59 stamina in total to perform that combo (on 3 last hits, it just consumes stamina from the first hit and not the 2 remaining attacks). Those 3 last hits were so fast and powerful, imagine a series of normal slashes but with the damage of secondary attack, that combo alone dealt 1000+ damage to the training target (the damage is even scarier with staggered targets), staggers even some 2 stars creatures without parrying, can be effective when used in group of creatures. -Any combo in this game has it's own pros and cons, i respect your opinion, dodge counter can be stamina effective but it's really hard to get right especially in real combat since you can easily mess it up by pressing wrong button or press the combination too slow. For extended power combo, it's easy to perform but requires higher amount of stamina than normal combo but i have to say this combo is good when you use it on bosses, since you might have prepared well from foods to potions, buff so you have more potential to do this combo.
@@sera7284welp i'm waiting for ashlands to come out after public test to try, kinda sucks that they nerfed the dodge attack eventho i've never failed to do it, it's no longer worth doing especially with lord reto.. but yeah i dont agree with you there that the extended power combo is good, i mean i myself was doing it in yagluth fight since he gives a lot of time to do it but for like queen, bonemass, moder aren't really the best since they can suddenly hit you right before you nearly done it so gotta be careful but for fader it seems safe to do since fader takes so long to attack
@@GhxstDz Uh yeah, i thought you weren't tried the public test yet! I have to admit the extended power combo sometimes sucks with some kind of targets. Looking at this I'm pondering methods to simplify / cheese this boss. It looks like you could use something similar to Bonemass and use earthen pillars to constrain movement. Would the Asksvin be of any help like wolves and lox against Yagluth? The fire carpet does seem very brutal ... do you think that is intended or maybe a balancing bug / choice? Maybe the Yagluth power would be useful as a fire suppressant for a mid battle melee blast. p.s. I've really enjoyed your videos and your very competent playstyle, thanks ;-)
jeez thanks for spoiling the boss in the title and thumbnail. literally couldnt NOT see it as it was at the top on my UA-cam homepage... update isnt even out yet
I feel like they make mistlands with no energy at all. I mean 50% of the new biome is finished and good while other 50% just looks like concept. For example fortresses xD They're lame same as the Fader. He looks awful, his model is awful. It would look better with him being skeleton dragon with green fire or zombie like dragon, not a dragon from mud, with cube ripped from his chest and poor mouth model. Moder look way better even the Queen. Mistlands were made asap also, we didnt get Yggdrasil wood beams... what Im talking about, any of yggdrasil pieces! Only stairs XD yeah... i know... my english is bad

Any adds can be destroyed by the flame dot that follows the spikes, which is pretty hilarious, and the lightning axes absolutely shred him.
