    What a good idea for a series. I'd love a guide on wallbangs, since they're such a rare mechanic in shooters. How to use sound to pinpoint locations and such. I've been killed by some real bs before, but trying to pull off wallbangs based purely on instinct is really hard, since people tend to sound a lot closer than they are.

    • @impossibleironman
      @impossibleironman  2 роки тому +4

      Thank you! Appreciate the suggestion, wallbangs are def a rare mechanic, and even more unique to Hunt when it comes to audio. I certainly understand the frustration, esp since even with the upcoming update they are fixing audio issues when it comes to fighting indoors/on multiple floors. I'll def experiment with this

    • @KingJerbear
      @KingJerbear 2 роки тому +2

      I think the biggest catalyst to successful wallbangs is map knowledge... I say this as a relatively new player. But based on my experience in other shooter games, you have such an advantage when you turn a corner and know a likely spot someone would use to get an angle on you. Wallbangs are a similar idea, if YOU were hit and at low health, where would you run and crouch to heal? I know there's obviously more to it than that, but when combined with the great sound cues we have in Hunt, being able to visualize the interior of a building without stepping foot inside it is a huge tool.

    Nice video.
    One of the strategies that often hurts evasion is uniform movement.
    Many melee charging players will swerve uniformly, and you can just aim in the middle of their pattern, firing every time they pass over your reticle.
    Evasion should be unpredictable.

    • @impossibleironman
      @impossibleironman  2 роки тому

      Absolutely. Melee combat is also a whole other discussion in itself, but I agree I've used the same strategy against knife charges/bomb lance users

    I am by no means expert at the game, so I am not sure what I am about to say is true, but since there is no body penetration to my knowledge then sideways also makes you take less damage, because your typical torso hit can become and arm hit.
    Someone correct me if I am wrong but that's was my way of thinking of why to do that

    • @Bus-In-Ass-Man
      @Bus-In-Ass-Man 2 роки тому +1

      Pretty sure body pen depends on ammo and weapon type. So stuff like arrows and crossbow bolts or bleed ammo (except for maybe nitro bleed ammo) will not penetrate limbs. And other types of ammo will deal damage to the body part with highest priority. So if an enemy somehow hit through your arm, torso and head at same time, it will deal headshot damage, but no extra damage for arm and torso.
      Not 100% certain about the bleed, poison and incendiary ammo, because i don't play with them as much. Though i assume they don't pen, because they can't penetrate any walls. Plus i've been getting consistently more close range 2-tap kills with fmj ammo compared to other types even after the damage update.
      I couldn't find the video from the devs explaining it, but this one at least somewhat demonstrates limb penetration:
      ua-cam.com/video/zDlTFoFNxsc/v-deo.html
      This is why i stopped lowering my head while running away from enemies. I thought i was being smart and saving myself from headshots, but, judging from this info and my experience, all i did was give them easy torso shots mixed with a chance to also hit my head.
      Sorry for a ton of text, i'm too dumb to know how to keep things short.

      The video in this thread answers it well, I wasn't aware that there was something addressing this so that's a great resource. As stated it comes down to ammo type in regards to the damage reduction, but ultimately the swerve is still useful as there is "less" to shoot at when you turn.

  • @johnekare8376
    @johnekare8376 2 роки тому

    This was a wonderful guide! I'm looking forward to following along with the series. Here's my suggestion for an episode down the line: "Why your shot didn't land." or "Why they are still alive." We've all been there I think or, for prides sake, hope: you could have sworn that your aim was dead on and yet no hit registers or you're getting multiple hit markers in a row and still the bastard won't go down. It's easy in the heat of the moment to blame the game but I'm betting the majority of cases are down to user error. It would be great to hear you go through a few of those scenarios and discuss the reasons behind why what might at first glance look like a hit isn't or at least not a good one. Also, in the few cases where the game may have something to do with the miss and there is a way to tell, that would also be an interesting subject to help determining what to practice and what to ignore and move on from.

    • @impossibleironman
      @impossibleironman  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! Also quite the unique suggestion. For this very reason, in my gameplay clips (esp when you can hear me get frustrated in the comms) I try to slow it down and zoom in to see what happened. I have def found more often than not that it boils down to something silly like I shot a part of their outfit that has no object collision, or like a highlight I posted recently I shot just below the elbow on someone wearing a cowl making it look like a torso shot when it wasn't. While Hunt does have some hit reg issues for sure, it's true that more often than not it boils down to perception. Something I could def do a clip reel about.

    To go with other people's suggestions here, since I think you did a great job with this one; Maybe an episode on types of aiming would be worth doing? Could use it to talk about the differences between 'true' aiming and flick-shots, when to stay ADS'd and when to lower the gun between shots, what weapons work well enough to bother with hipfire in a pinch, etc. I find that any time I mention that aiming normally and flick-shooting use different types of dexterity, and people can be better or worse at either type, it ends up confusing people because a lot of people see all aiming as the same thing.
    Edit: Another one might be 'how to win a knife fight', or just a general guide to melee weapons. Most people know what melee tools are good for what enemies, but nobody really talks in specific terms about how to win a melee fight without dying. Might be a shorter episode, but could help some people.

    One thing I've found is communication is meta especially when playing random trios if you don't tell your team your plan then usually one person ends sat outside compound in a bush while the other two fight the boss and then that person 9x out of 10 gets picked off which gives the enemy the upper hand play with confidence and if you can't then practice on the solo mode until you feel upto a more rewarding challenge, plus see the map more like a chess board no move guarantees a pay off but if you can up the odds then its your move to make also sometimes the chess board is set against you so sometimes leaving before the odds are stacked against you can be the best outcome just play the map is my advice- 5 years of mathing it up 😂

    Nice vid, Thats a thing I dont like in Hunt like any FPS for that matter where it becomes a jumping simulator ( was the same for crouching before they nerfed it ) I understand the tactics/strategy behind but lets be honest have ever see anyone fight for real like that, maybe in a meme comedy movie that could be featured :)) . Also I dont play on console but you do land some nice shot with a controller, GG to you man !

    This swerving should just be embarrassing from a developer standpoint. You made this AMAZING game where people can set up a trip wire trap by an oil barrel while one hides up on the ledge of a dilapidated building 150 meters away waiting for the trap to be sprung and take the player out while he's frantically trying to put out the fire in his face. Instead your game is played like this... Two people at point blank, jumping and shooting at each other until one dies. Good job

    • @impossibleironman
      @impossibleironman  2 роки тому

      While I understand it can be an immersion break for some, my question is this: what do you propose they do about it? Pretty much any game will be subject to some mechanic like this that goes against the developers intentions. This is a consequence of Hunt having slow firing weapons, obv you can't do this in games with more automatics. Also if you're playing optimally, the scenario your describing won't happen often. You're either getting sniped at 150M+ or one tapped by slugs/nitro at close/medium range respectively.

      @@impossibleironman what could be done is to increase the weapon sway dramatically if you aim with the weapon shortly after moving. You could also increase the sway dramatically when aiming while moving.
      Make it so that the game detects when you move too much within a very small area (swirwing) and decrease your moving speed dramatically - sort of like they did with the spinning while reviving a team mate

    I first played Hunt on console before quickly moving to PC and I don't know what it is but the sensitivity is completely messed up. going from high tier 6Siege to Hunt was wild I can do well on 6Siege on console or PC using controller for both even but Hunt is nearly unplayable with a controller, for me of course, to the point I can't tell if it was a purposeful design choice or just bad implementation and seeing 5 stare combat relegated to who can strafe shoot better and not who can actually aim with the right joystick is just horrible to see I hope they actually fix it because Hunt is one of the best games out there.

    • @impossibleironman

      The console mechanics are def a secondary consideration. The port over is poor, as can be seen by the menu UI that isn't designed for console in the slightest. They added a few shortcut buttons but beyond that it's riddled with issues because a console isn't meant to handle things like multiple windows in the way a PC is. Carry this mentality over to gameplay and I'm sure a lot of things were looked over there as well, as you're correct I've def had smoother console shooters.

    So THIS IS WHY I SEE SO MANY ELITE FPS PLAYERS SWERVE AWAY (in long ttk/non-hitscan games) AFTER TAKING UNLIKELY POTSHOTS‽
    I know it probably doesn't work in all games but this feels like it's got to be a staple emergent strategy in some gamut of titles. The way we gamers live & respawn by the saying, "when all you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail", is always an entertaining thing to me.

    • @impossibleironman

      I've tried this in some other games, some of it absolutely does work. The stagger stepping is a little more specific to Hunt where each individual shot matters, serpentining is more useful in games with a lot of automatic weapons tho. Fake peeks and things of that nature are great however, I use it in stuff like Overwatch all the time.

    • @impossibleironman
      @impossibleironman  2 роки тому

      I do go over the movement penalty, it's all about spacing it out. I'm used to the timing from practicing it, and I also throw in other movements like swerves if I know it might penalize me. I used to get killed all the time by my hunter suddenly slowing down and not knowing why until I messed around with it.

    as a console layer this guy really needs to play this on PC. We cant do half of this. we get movement penalty for turing too fast and also for crouching to often. so the spinning to lot is not possible. as well stagger step and jump and crouch. all we got is serpantine and feint

    • @impossibleironman
      @impossibleironman  2 роки тому

      The looting spin is the only discrepancy between PC and console, otherwise it's about spacing out the movements and putting in different types of movement in between to avoid penalty. There's a section in the video that displays the difference between what will result in penalty and what won't. You can see players like Gunsmackk and Rachta use movement like this a lot without difficulty, and Huuge even does 180 degree turns mid fight without issue, all on PC. If there was a significant difference between the two, I would have made that clear
