Midian is such a stellar album from them. It's so hard for me to recommend music from them because I've been listening to them since I was 13 (so coming up on 13 years now), but I think you'll especially love the video for Heartbreak and Seance. It literally brings gothic artwork to life and is just beautiful to watch, and the album it's taken from, Cryptoriana, is absolutely beautiful.
Great React... Cradle of Filth is my Fave band ever, i look forward to watching you on your journey this week.. Heatbreak and Seance, Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids, Blackest Magick in Practice, Lillith Imaculate, Mannequin, Queen of Winter Throned, it's really hard to pick some songs when they're all so soo soooooo good, i recommend EVERYTHING!!
@@ArsenicAndEspressoPodcast If you want to do the right thing, look out for the uncensored version introduced by Dany Filth himself. (On a throne with a crown of thorns...) Name: Cradle Of Filth - From the Cradle Of Enslave (Uncensored) [Official Video] on Cradle of Filth's YT channel. It might be more controversial, but man, you are missing out something with the censored vid. Seriously. You will probably never see someone playing violin the same way again. (Yes, just one example...) This is THE video that made them probably as big as they are until today. It was something very influential on all heavy musicians of it's time. Unrivaled optics, Dani's vampire vocals, the double kick drum and the very down-tuned bass from other fresh genres of extreme metal, goth and black metal with death metal influences SOMETHING on its own.
Not enough people react to this song. I think it's certainly in their top three, even though I'm sure a lot of early Cradle gatekeepers would skewer me for saying that, sadly. Lyric-wise, I don't know how anyone could not consider it at least top five, and the orchestration is fkn beautiful. And I love how it flips the script on Christian mythology.
His voice is how people feel about dir en grey where you either really love it or hate it which it’s ok everyone has their own taste but I love both Dani not only has a unique voice but his lyric writing and execution is amazing
I learned like 95% of this lyrics and I'm still trying to finish understand it (english is not my first language). But I can tell you is amongst my top 3 songs from them. Loved your video.
I’m actually really excited that you guys did a CoF week. I’ve been on a kick listening to them to work and back (45 minute drives each way) so I’ve been listening to their albums straight through starting with Dusk... and Her Embrace and it’s just honestly so rare to find other people on UA-cam that actually take the time to appreciate their work. Their whole discography is so vast and eclectic. Can’t wait to watch the rest of the CoF week videos and more in the future 🤙🏻
Hi guys. You've just reacted to I believe my favourite Cradle of Filth song. Yeah, Dani Filth's high pitch growl is definitely an acquired taste. I remember being death/black metal fan back in 1990's I heard song Funeral in Carpathia from their Dusk & Her Embrace album released in 1996. I couldn't stand Dani's vocal at the beginning. But slowly they've evolved to being one of my favourite metal bands of all time.
Oh WOW this is going to be a fun week!!!!! I'm not sure how difficult you guys understand it is to narrow down what are the best seven cradle of Filth songs, but you started off splendidly by without a doubt reacting to one of them. My vote for your next reaction is for what many will say is possibly their most legendary song Dusk and Her Embrace lyric video On a side note, I am still itching for you guys to react to Tallah. No one should read this Red Light Overconfidence LED Their vocalist does just as many things with his voice as Dani Filth does, but he has a very schizophrenic nature to his singing. He can switch from weak to brutal and from amusing to making your skin crawl, all on a dime. They are a very promising up-and-comer.
This is from the Midian album, which appears to be heavily influenced by the 80’s horror movie, Nightbreed. The lyrics even mention “nightbreed”. In the movie, Median is where the monsters live. They were freakish beings who were exiled to live “below”. The album cover art depicts such creatures. The movie is pretty awesome.
If you are a devout Christian and semi bible-scholar, this song will both amaze you and put you off. Don't know if Dani wrote all of CoF's lyrics around the time this was released, but I think he did. At any rate, respect to the guy. He combines his Shakespeare-level grasp of English with modern wittyiness, and throws in deep insight into Christian dogma, and all that just to piss them off. Kudos. p.s I find it funny that the video isn't censoring "cunts", "fellatio" etc, but it does censor his "fuckers!".
Yes, Midian. For me their best album, I love the sound and the production of it. Tortured Soul Asylum is my favourite song on this masterpiece. Maybe you should do reaction to some of their live pieces. What about Lord Abortion from the same album? :) ua-cam.com/video/8XGGSoEX4Gc/v-deo.html
''descenturies'' is a made up word by dani (as quite alot), decent + centuries meaning that theyve been decented for hundreds of years :P and there is so so so much in this song you guys missed but really awesome review ! cant wait for more!
I’m an old school COF fan. Everything up till Midian. After that for me the music isn’t as good. I love how they have so many change ups in the songs. It’s so creative and keeps things refreshing and holds my interest bc theres so much going on in the composition and lyrics. If you just read Dani’s lyrics without the music it’s like you’re reading old poems and horror literature.
You mentioned that it reads like Shakespeare so I might just notice that in case you weren't aware Dani Filth actually received an actual price "for preserving the literature English language" or something like that from the government of England. I crap you not, google it.
Love the fact you done cradle of filth they are way underappreciated and Dani is a modern day poet and his lyrics are exceptional and intelligent. Wow you look so amazing I love goth girl's ( I'm engaged to one) when I grew up there was loads of gorgeous goths about. Sadly their very rare now. I love that you are keeping the goth image going. Goths are the most beautiful of all the women into heavy music and greetings from England 🏴 UK 🇬🇧🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👍
I thank of night breed when ever i listen midian because of the imagery of the album and sound and from the likeness of the movie so is the imagery of the music so nightly done.
I'm a relatively new fan of CoF. Started listening to them... 2 years ago I think. Anyway, I know a lot of their more long-time fans like their older stuff better, but I LOVE the whole Cryptoriana album. Heartbreak and Seance is a good song from that album with a cool music video I'd love to see you react to. Achingly Beautiful has a lyric video and is maybe my favorite song off of Cryptoriana. The other songs on Cryptoriana don't have official videos I don't think..? But some highlights are Wester Vespertine, The Seductiveness of Decay, and Vengeful Spirit. I love your videos, and I'd really enjoy a reaction to any of those songs :)
Awesome Reaction. Long time Cradle of Filth fan here, Just earned a Subscriber. Dani is an Amazing Poet! I would suggest that you all keep with early COF up to 2000 to really appreciate them in their Prime! Bathory Aria, Cruelty Brought thee Orchids, Beneath the Howling Stars, Saffron's Curse, just to name a few. Also Check out their cover of Hallowed be Thy Name, Incredible Cover!
In a nutshell the song is about the monsters (nightbreed) taking back their perceived rightful place. This echoes what Clive Barker wrote in his novella Cabal which tuned into the so-so movie Nightbreed. Dani added his own spin, adding in a lot of the satanic stuff as well as allusions to recurring themes from previous albums (ravens vs angels, the oppression of Christianity, etc). As far as recommended songs I will suggest something off one of their more underappreciated albums Damnation and a Day like Serpent Tongue or Presents from the Poisoned Hearted.
No it is not about that.. It is about the fall of angels...It is basically about lucifer and a athem to every atheist... There are dozens and dozens of writtings telling about this "tale" before even clive barker was born.. It is the fall from grace, as the title says.. 100% addapted christian legend with an atheist twist...The best part of the song is that it inclusive to everyone who doesnt believe in god.. It tells the story in the right way, if you read the bible you realize god is the worst and lucifer fell down from grace because he wanted something "fair"... Even the part where there is an eve in "her knees" is about the same tale. The first eve is lilith, which happened to met lucifer after god pushed her away from eden, the myth says that from this union, all the "demons" were spawned... You seem a bit clueless....
Niiiiiiiiice! This is going to be fun 😈 If you're taking reccomendations "presents from the poison hearted", lustmord & wargasm", "the smoke of her burning" , "honey & sulphur" or "shat out of hell" are some my personal favourites Enjoy🤘🖤🤘
Any timespan of Cradle of filth just makes life 100% Better imo hope you guys do Born in a burial gown, a gothic Romance, from cradle to enslaved, i will suggest if you ever get the opportunity go see this band live
Please react tooo Brand of Sacrifice - Demon King....This band is outstanding. The vocalist is a beast. Many UA-camrs react to this Band because they bring fresh breath in Metal. Don't miss it. This song is pure evil. 😎 You won't regret it!
JK Potter did some of their best album art among many other metal or even post-hardcore bands. MIDIAN is the best example and that thumbnail . Worth checking out. HR Giger and Potter did the best metal art!! COF rule
Not the biggest fan of CoF but they surely influenced my metal journey since I first heard them 20 years ago when I was in high school. My top3 (from 1 to 3): Amor E Morte, Mannequin, From the Cradle to Enslave.
Woooooo Caffeine, Poison and Celestial metal jams!
Midian is such a stellar album from them. I love this song!!!!
Scorched earth erotica is one of my favorite songs from cradle of filth
Interesting you went from Jinjer to CoF. On their first US tour, Jinjer was a supporting act for CoF.
That's actually pretty cool
CoF week! 👀🤘🤘🤘
Dani is simply best lyricist... by far
Great React...
Cradle of Filth is my Fave band ever, i look forward to watching you on your journey this week..

For me it’s on top 5 for sure! I think it’s the most underrated song by cof!
The rape and ruin of angels (hosannis in extremis). Lyrically amazing
Love this band. Everything about them is amazing to me. Especially the lyricism. Dani Filth is my favorite lyricist for obvious reasons, lol.
@Psychotic Phantom hey, nice dude. Yeah, my username is actually based off two of my favorite CoF tracks. Bathory Aria and Dusk and Her Embrace, lol.
