- Coming up next: Two more songs from Midian! One is quite disturbing, and the other is a brilliant commentary on our world. Guesses?

You are the ONLY other person ive found who picked up on EVERY facet of how masterfully written and beatiful this song is
Thank you, glad to hear that!
Mine was “her ghost in the fog ” back in 2005 , I received a DVD “peace through superior firepower “ was hooked since .. 🤟🏽🖤
First ofc was Her Ghost, i remember so vividly, middle of night on VH1, there used to be block with havy music every friday 10-12pm en once a month till like 4am. Was watching it religiously back to back....in kitchen to not wake family (lived ina 2 room+kitchen flat) on an 8'' black and white portable tv
Oh lord, good old times
Haha that sounds awesome!
Midian is the city hidden to protect the all so "fearsome" monsters. This song is derived from the 1990 movie 'Nightbreed'.
Danny is simply a masterful lyricist his use of Shakespearean literary mechanisms is quite exquisite even his music videos are extremely tasteful
I agree!
My first Cradle song was "From The Cradle To Enslaved". I made a tape recording from a radio station that played heavy music one time per week. I immediately went and got Bittersuites.
I have bought every album multiple times.
I traveled hundreds of miles to see them live in Anaheim. I really enjoy your insight and interpretation of one of my favorite bands. Seriously, great work! Thank you.
Wow, that sounds awesome! It wasn't easy in those times to get a hold of music, for better or worse. Thank you for watching and for your great comment!
my highschool bf introduce COF to me and the first song was Her Ghost in the Fog. after that I fell in LOVE with the band. I was really into writing and poetry at the time and the Lyrics with Piano? that was the first time i ever heard a band use a piano and "strings" in their music. I was just like "why haven't i ever found this music before!?!"
That's lovely! Their lyrics and sound are very inspiring for someone writing poetry, especially at that age when you're still discovering and experimenting with your own lyrical voice.
I was writing poetry in high school too, influenced by CoF and Romantic literature, and though I gradually realized prose was more my thing, I still "used" them as inspiration for their themes and wording (and sound, of course).
I could listen to you talk all day!
Thank you, that is lovely to hear!
Hi!
I love your videos about CoF because you make me appreciate them even more.
Midian was my first approach to CoF so for me is a very important album.
I think your content is unique and you really deserve more subscribers.
Keep going!
Thank you so much 🖤 Same here, and I see Midian was a lot of people's first contact with them.
My first song was dusk and her embrace was hooked first time keep up the good work love this band the darker the better need to do some TYPE O NEGATIVE,SONG LOVE YOU TO DEATH would be cool to do
Love your deep dive into cradle of filth's lyrics! The only channel that really does that with great knowledge. Thank you!
Thank you very much!
I rember at the age of 15 when ''Dusk an her embrace'' came out..i bought the cd which was in a small coffin case...then i put it on,not knowing anything about them..and my mind was blown away by the musicianship..i followed them since then and never regret it
A small coffin case, that's so awesome! Did you buy it because you thought the cd looked cool or had someone recommended the band to you? That's a great memory :)
Well a classmate recommended the band, and at the time in 1996 they only had released 2 albuns,"dusk" and "the principle",so when i had to choose one,the decision was obvious😀
I did the exact same. Bought the coffin. I heard a few tracks, then just bought it. Only other stuff I listened to back then was Samael, Emperor, Enslaved and Dimmu Borgir.
I still have the cd and the coffin 30 years later.. I just wish I had treated it better when I was young.
1:11 my first contact with Cradle Of Filth was with the first album, with _ Forest Whispers My Name_ . Since then, it was a non-stop listening until 2008. _Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder_ was the last album that, for me, made sense.
So you began with the beginning, that's nice! I can relate to that... After Godspeed, while I do like some of the newer songs, I haven't listened to the albums as faithfully as I did the old ones.
YESSSS this is my favorite song ever
Delightful, as always, dear Dr. Metalhead! Thank you so much for sharing your amazing knowledge.
Thank you for your support, much appreciated!
I'm falling for this woman😍
Every single poem in this album is a masterpiece. You would think something that florid and obscure would be overwhelming and...well, just boring, but man, is it hard to stop eating up one verse after the other....
Well put, I completely agree! ❤
That one "dark song" is lord abortion I'm sure and the other is either death magick for adepts or saffrons curse i think?? Am i close Dr?? Lord abortion, im sure but uve got me stumped on the second🤔. If i HAD to choose, it would be Death Magick. Those are my final guesses🫣🧐. Great analysis as always!!!
Ahhh spot on! The first complete guess so far 😁
Thank you!!
Very interesting, thank you. This is a very intriguing song. My first CoF song was Lustmord and Wargasm from a local metal mix CD listening with my cousins, and thus forth I was a fan
Awesome! Thank you!
My first cradle of filth song was her ghost in the fog as was for many other people. The difference for me is that i was 9 at the time. cof pretty much defined my personality style since
That's awesome! I didn't hear them until 13.
My first Cradle Experience was “The Forrest whisper my name” blew me away, been with them ever since
Beautiful one! 🖤
That was my first album that i bought.. my first song was Malice through her looking glass though
Fastest click in a long while when I saw this video was up. This deserves a much bigger audience, though I suppose extreme metal lyric analysis is a fairly niche subject. Nevertheless, I hope you continue to do them, I look forward to many more! Your level of insight is simply not found elsewhere. Thank you.
The first Cradle song(s) I heard was a play-through of the Principle of Evil Made Flesh album, which I didn't like much at the time. Later on, I heard Malice Through the Looking Glass which got me hooked, and I started going through the back catalogue and continue to follow the band.
I''m guessing the upcoming Midian songs are Lord Abortion and Death Magick for Adepts.
My introduction to Cradle Of Filth was, when i was around 12 or 13 i was at a local record store. And i seen the album "Cruelty And The Beast " and i remember just staring at the cover thinking " This shits gotta be good". Bought it and i was not disappointed.
I certainly hope you do Queen Of Winter Throned. That song has a darkness like no other.🖤 (and certainly a lot to dissect in the lyrics. I call the song “Vampyre Theatre”)
Phallus sea fallacy is so good wth.
Dani's puns are brilliant :D
I could listen to you all day. In love with your commentary, I’m surprised this channel doesn’t have more subs. Please keep doing what you do.
Thank you very much, that's wonderful to hear! ❤️
@@dr.metalhead5452have you considered doing book reviews? What other hobbies do you have? I have some original prints of aliester Crowley, eight lectures on yoga I can send you
thanks for another analysis of a great song by a great band
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fuck yeah, thank you!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
First song I heard from Cradle was A Dream of Wolves in the Snow which instantly grabbed me into vampirism followed by Dusk and Her Embrace album.
Wow that's a great one to hear first, very magical and atmospheric!
@@dr.metalhead5452 Absolutely, and so ever since then I became a big fan of Cradle of Filth.
🔥 🎸
🤘
Commenting to help with the algorithm sharing your content with others. Great stuff. I missed the Serpent Tongue analysis. Going back to watch it now.
Thank you!!
Great analysis! I love how the camera is zoomed out and we can see more of your outfit and expressions. It makes the experience more immersive, like you’re talking to us in person!
Great summary of what Satanism is and how it came to be! Lol yes the album cover does look somewhat cringe. Very 90s and early 2000s in terms of aesthetic!
I love the imagery used here. The sunset, Eve serving Satan in that particular way!
Yes lol the background isn't cringe, I love the city and the running woman, but the 2 figures in the foreground, edgy teenage girl and scorpio guy... 😅
Thank you so much! I think I'll do that from now on, though it means holding the mic (which I don't mind, since I always feel the need to do something with my hands while talking).
Mine was Mannequin ! I was like 10 or 11yo, quite now to any metal scene. I quickly shifted onto older albums though !
Magnificent as always.
Thank you 🖤
Tortured Soul Asylum is easily my favorite track off the album. My favorite overall though is definitely Funeral in Carpathia.
I love Tortured Soul, it holds a special place in my heart. I need to analyse Funeral soon, too, it a lot of people's favourite track!
thankypu, refresihreah
One thing I like about the album cover is that they still used real models for it. Instead of using CGI or cheap artwork, like in Godspeed, I wish they'd still have real people on the covers, like the first few albums
That's a good point, indeed. The Midian cover is a very iconic one in spite of its flaws.
Please Funeral In Carpathia, Queen Of Winter :) love your Cradle videos
On my list! And I might do something more special for Funeral, since a lot of people requested it and since I'm, coincidentally, from "Carpathia".
Beautiful woman.. ☺️
Cruelty and the beast and battory aria
i dont know what song was my first they were recommended by several friends so i bought the EP from the cradle to enslave. lucky to see them at ozzfest for a few reasons 1) before or just about when nymphetamine came out and they turned to shit 2) saved all my lunch money from normal school year plus summer school was still $100 short. 3) still had to go to summer school that day got there right when they started 4) my buddys dad who drove us wanted to tailgate all day until ozzy went on 5) marilyn manson was banned from playing the "family friendly" venue, but black metal bands like C.O.F. and dimmu borgir played lol thank you dipshit organizers
Haha that was a series of lucky events indeed! It makes the moment all the more epic. Thank you for watching!
Be careful I like this 1
Lord abortion & Amor e morte!
Almost 😁 But yes, "the disturbing one" is indeed Lord Abortion, Dani doesn't shy away from deranged things in that one XD
haha tu much pause
Sweet video 🔥🔥🔥
Looking forward to your next one!
Thank you ❤
