I've always had the habit of some fingers on the pad and thought it was a bad thing. I'm glad to know that it can help in someways and I've always felt more comfortable with my pinky and thumb touching
Same and i thought my aim was better but i thought it was the wrong way so i would always lift my fingers up higher but i would feel awkward and it would mess with my aim.
Exactly how I use a mouse. Have asked friends before who found it weird that i glide my finger tips on the pad, but it gives you insanely higher control especially if you want to play with an edpi that isn't horrendously low in faster shooting games. Much more control with this style.
THANK YOU i was feeling like my habbit if having my pinky and ring finger grazing the mousepad was going to hinder me from further improving (even though my aim is notably better with the added friction) but having a professional say that both are equally affective if you're comfortable with it helped me a lot
I genuinely appreciate this as well. I legit thought Im doing it wrong when extending my pink as the brake since its what is comfortable and doesn't cause fatigue to my hand than curling it and causing my entire hand to stiff
Thanks for point this out I think I did this unintentionally and my aim felt really smooth and controllable but I could never recreate it until I watched this video.
Loved this one Ron, exactly why I've always used my pinky extended with a bit of thumb grazing pad as a litmus test for mouse placement/movement and crosshair placement/flick muscle mem
literally the first person i see that uses this pen/writing analogy to explain aim. I always had good control handwriting and I used to do pretty well with a higher sens, i figured it had to do with this.
i've tried relaaa's grip, you hold the mouse at the very bottom; actually the mouse is hovering- this technique only works with mice that has high LOD( lift of distance)- instead of mouse feet touching the pad it should be the ring, pinky, and your thumb in contact with the mousepad for more stopping power. it'll take a while to get used to.
I have a very bad habit of completely holding my mouse in a way that none of my fingers really touch the mousepad, it's like a no-brake motion and I've noticed overshooting my aim every time I flick, u made me realize I need to pull on the brakes a little
I really appreciate this video! I've been experimenting with fingertip placement myself, and I’ve noticed that when my fingers touch the mousepad (especially my pinky and thumb), I feel more in control, especially during micro-adjustments. It helps me with precision and stability. However, when I don't touch the pad, the movement feels smoother, but I lose that fine control for small movements. I feel like I haven’t given the 'no-fingertip' technique enough time to adjust, but for now, grazing the mousepad with my fingers gives me a sense of control that I prefer, especially when I need to make accurate micro-movements. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on balancing smoothness and control?
Hello Kim I have an interesting question: How do tricep muscles affect aiming? I am a gym goer and I have found that my aim is strongly affected after a gym session when my tricep are involved. This can lasts up to 2 days. I dont usually feel muscle soreness but aiming is almost impossible. Everything feels unfamiliar and uncomfortable. My muscle memory feels completely uncalibrated and disorted. Its like playing on a completely different mousepad and mouse and desk height/sitting height. I would like your opinion and thoughts on this. Do I just completely give up on gaming 5 days a week? Or is there a certain aiming / sitting style that could help?
I noticed this thing too, the push day really sore my triceps out and aiming is difficult and I even get shoulder pain, Fixes i found are: 1. Don't train your triceps till failure 2. Play on a bit higher sens as higher sens are more wrist dependent than lower sens which are shoulder/full hand dependent. 3. Stretch out the muscles well after gym session.
Because when you bend your elbow like when doing bicep curls your so when you bend your arm while aiming you see you put ur hand on mouse pad around 90 degree so arm is bent and when arm is bent tricep is stretched but if tricep is sore and it’s stretched it’s gonna cause pain and instability because you will feel plain which will cause you to shake and if you’re on low sens you will need to extend your arm consistently also causing pain which means shakiness
when I flick my mouse shakes alot. So even if I have a perfect flick onto someone's head it jiggles to the left or right and messes up the shot. I learned that funnily enough, that weird overexaggerated pinky extended actually helped me but its uncomfortable
Hey man, really like the things you said in the video! Although i think that some chill music in the background will make it even better, so consider adding it!
i play high sens (1848 edpi) and when awping i keep my fingers off the pad, but when im aiming with rifle/pistol etc i like to drag my fingers to essentially lower my sensitivity to control spray better or steady my aim etc
I switched to high sens recently (720 to ~1560) it takes some getting used to but I feel I have a higher potential with this, and if I sink another 1k hours with this sensitivity I can argue that I'll be better with it
Hi Ron Rambo Kim. I have a quick question about using fingers for micromovements. It is easy to bend your fingers to move up and down with the mouse because your fingers are built that way. But how do you make finger microadjustments for horizontal movement?
Grip the mouse as you would. Using only your thumb, and ring and pinky finger. Push the mouse side to side WITHOUT using your wrist. Also pay attention to how your cursor moves when you do it. The mouse itself shouldn’t be going side to side more like tilting. | -> / -> \ Mainly the lower half of the mouse should be moving. Think of using the mouse upside down .
Maybe also a point about fingers touching the mousepad is tactical feedback? It could give your brain more information to work with to do the perfect motion. But I guess that's could not be a "realtime control loop" since the tactical feedback is processed waay slower in the brain than the visual feedback from the screen
Technically I do that in Minecraft since I use both index finger and middle finger on both left and right button on mouse to clicking both buttons 10 times per second
Question. Why does it feel unequal to turn one direction. As in turning right feels uncomfortable or vice versa. I’ve tried many grips and readjustments. Forced myself to stick with them for weeks at a time. Nothing feels comfortable. When it comes to look at the screen and moving around it simply feels unequal and an annoyance to even play.
what's better for high sense I use 1600dpi and 1.6 in apex I'm slowly getting used to it but I feel like when I have my wrist and fingers on the mouse pad i drag way to much idk what I'm doing wrong there but ya its been a issue I'm trying to play with my hands above it now but its feels weird
only problem I've found with my fingers touching is it feels like when i need to go quickly one direction or another, a piece of the finger kinda gets wedged between the pad and the mouse and trapped in there just enough to throw off my aim a bit and cost me a life in some cases. like it's inconsistent
I got really good for a period of time when I was grinding hard on FPS games. Came back this week and holy crap I wanted to cry at how bad I was aiming especially my micro adjustments, posture, reflexes, and overall comfortability were. I aim trained for a bit on warmup servers on CSGO but didnt get much progress. My hands started cramping really bad so I gave up. Its been a few days and its getting slightly better but I still went to sleep tn sad asf with cramping hands. But I really dont know how I used to have such good aim compared to how i'm performing now. Its genuinely sad to think about it 😭😭😭😭😭
Great video! Could you also do one with Niko's mouse grip I found some old vids with a better view of his mouse for reference but I can't really get any proper insights
Hi Ron, I was wondering if this was normal for FPS Players. Like, I haven't played a single FPS game for 2 months and when I return I somehow am able to aim better and have a better mindset on what to do.
I find doing 5 min of dm is sufficient enough (when comfortable), if you're not new to fps; mostly because it's all in the mind. One thing I will factor in is cloth pads lol. Some days it's rough.
Will changing sensitivity reduce aim ability temporarily? Is it good practice to change sensitivity in games? Looking at pros that change sens frequently and still perform well(like Shroud), it doesn't seem to be an issue. Please make a definite video explaining this
Whenever my finger slipped off my mouse onto the pad I subconsciously feel like the mouse is gonna eat my finger and my brain suddenly stops moving my hand.
Its like i turn the crosshair to my enemy area so when my croshair near him i kinda like use my pinky and thumb to break my mouse so its like precise aim mode but in little angel not wide angel
