- Let's learn how to select and model a bass reflex enclosure, also known as a vented box. A vented enclosure is by far the most popular design regardless if it is for home, car or pro audio applications!
The extra bass extension along with the simplicity to design make a bass reflex design a very popular choice, while a bass reflex is not the "best" the trade offs for some extra oomph vs the negatives over a large horn are worth it.
Thanks for this series! A lot to take in and I'm sure I'll be referring to these vid's a lot in the future :)
When you say 'subtract the port/driver volume' I take it you mean if the port and back of driver are internal to the box you will lose that volume so you either need to update the box volume in the settings or just add the port and driver volumes when designing the actual box sizes? Or to put it another way, add the port and box volumes as designed together and then add driver volume as well to get final box dimensions to suit volume. Cheers.
@mickduprez9598 you are a 100% correct, hornresp does have the capacity to calculate cone volume. The tool lets you adjust the shape of the cone, this can be helpful say with a bandpass where both chambers are considered the front and the rear chamber.
